I stayed here with my partner in Jan 02nd -05th 2011 for a couple of nights.
I paid an incident deposit of £133 on top of the actual stay costs, which I was assured would be refunded back onto my card at the end of our stay, I had no problem with this at all.
We are now on 3RD Feb, I left Washington 5TH Jan, have still had no refund despite several emails and phone calls to America assuring me Id be refunded. Im now finding that my emails are not being answered at all and am disgusted with the service, and the amount of time and costs incurred at chasing this up.to still not reach closure on this matter. £133 is not a small amount to just lose or ignore.
WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL NOW???? NOT A CHANCE.

Room had two queen beds, free internet, fridge, microwave, free breakfast - which was wonderful and varied each day, There was a business centre and pool. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The only problems we had was with the hot water. We were told it took a while for the water to get to our side of the hotel!!! It did take a good 10 minutes of running the water before it became hot. Also one day the rubbish was not collected and after phoning housekeeping were told someone would collect it straight away - this never happened. Other than that the hotel was excellent. Juice and fresh baked cookies were available each afternoon. The hotel was very central to all of Washington's attractions.

First time stay.
PROS: comfortable layout, clean linens, room and bathroom, comfortable beds (but not pillows), nice and helpful service at the front desk and all the other workers, swimming pool and whirlpool were clean and nice (but a bit too small and had no place to change). Quite efficient free breakfast.
CONS: noise from the street (which could be eliminated with the closing heavy draperies on the window) and noise from the heater/air conditioner (particularly when it goes ON and OFF). Light sleepers will only “survive” with the earplugs.
Still I would stay here, but next time with earplugs.

We, family of 4, stayed here for 5 nights a week before Christmas. Our first night there the concierge tried VERY hard to get us to purchase tickets for the hop on hop off tours, got the feeling he would get a kickback if we paid through him, cash only.
Not knowing the area, we asked the concierge for advice about the best way to get to the white house and the only option he suggested was catch a taxi, however, after some self guided research we worked out it was less than 2 miles walk so opted for this much cheaper option and saw heaps more on our beautiful 20 min walk! In the end we didn't buy the hop on hop off tour and were SO glad we didn't because you REALLY need to see Washington on foot and the hotel is so close to everything you'd want to see and if it's too far for you to walk, take the train, it's really cost effective and very efficient! It's also an option that was never mentioned to us at the hotel, it pays to do your own research and it's disappointing that the concierges never once suggested the public transport option. The breakfast was always nice and adequate and the Brekkie staff VERY friendly and helpful. Pool small but my kids enjoyed the daily swim. Fitness also small but you can usually find some time when it's empty and you have the place to yourself. Laundry was typical hotel laundry. Overall, great hotel but didn't think much of the concierges. Would consider staying here again unless I could find a place with same value closer to museum strip, however, I didn't mind the walks to the monuments and museums.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn for 6 nights over the New Year period. We arrived from the Amtrak train around 11am and we were greeted warmly by the front desk staff who had us checked in within minutes.

Our room was a good size and the beds were the most comfortable beds that we have every slept on (we wish we could have brought these beds home with us!).

The hotel is located in the Chinatown district and is only 2 blocks from the Verizon Centre. Public transport (including the circulator) stops nearby.

We have stayed at this hotel before and have never had a problem. This hotel makes sure they do the "little things" to make it extra special. For example: Calling our room a few minutes after arriving to see if everything was up to par? Providing warm/soft cookies at the front desk during the evening hours and always having coffee/tea available at any point in the day. The breakfast has always been outstanding with servers constantly and consistently replenishing food/drinks/cutlery. It is perfectly situated to the D.C. Mall and the pool/hot tub was clean and open until 10 pm.
Bottom line......do NOT hesitate to think twice about choosing this hotel, because you will be treated like royalty throughout your stay.
