We visited DC for 5 days during our spring break. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great every morning with a good selection of items. We got back in time to do the nighttime meal one night and it was delicious also. The area is surrounded by a lot of office buildings so it's a little deserted on the weekend, but even getting back late we never felt afraid. The metro is close by and there's also a CVS and McDonald's. There are some other restaurants nearby, but most don't stay open late. We did eat at the pizza place next door which stays open later and it was very good. The way the room is set up is very handy for families. Having a seperate area to sit, relax, and watch TV is nice when others are ready for bed. The kitchen area was handy also.

This is a great place to stay. 3 blocks south of independence avenue. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Pool and washing machine all good. But very few restaurants within walking distance and after a long day of touring that is what is required.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights on our recent trip to DC. We wanted something close to the mall and not too expensive. Unfortunately the time we booked most hotels within half mile of the Mall were at least $200. We got this hotel for $250 a night.

Plus:
- Free Breakfast. Always changing and ample food selection of hot, cold, make your own waffles, and juices. Wife and kid didn't like pancakes. Oatmeal, Sausage, and Yogurt/granola/fruit were great.

- Free Wireless. No complaints.

- Good Service. Our HVAC rattled and they came up and fixed within 1 hour. We needed towels/sheets and they were provided within the hour. They also called us a Taxi which arrived on time. Concierge was helpful and provided suggestions for dining and museum visits. Good suggestions.

- Rooms were clean. We didn't see any bugs or have any complaints. There was one louder family one night we heard but not during sleeping hours.

- Two blocks from the Metro station.

- NASA HQ is right across the street and they do have a little shop there.

- Only a 10-15 minute walk to the Mall Area. This is the biggest PLUS.

Minus:

- The $250 a night was overpriced for this hotel. I would expect closer to $150. This is probably due to high season for Spring Break.

- Someone in another post said this area was a food desert. That is 100% correct. There is stuff open for breakfast/lunch but forget about dinner. Choices: Pizza, Potbelly Sandwich, Quiznos, and McDonald's. Also a QVC and Starbucks nearby. The Deli's and other were closed for dinner. This ended up being a huge inconvenience for us when it was night time and rainy and we didn't want to go anywhere. A Thai takeout will deliver but food is below average for Thai.

- Windows can't be opened for those who like "fresh" air or to hear the sounds of the city.

In booking another trip to DC I would try to get something surrounded by more food options (within 2-3 block walk)--I was okay with walking and taking the Metro for more options but the wife and kid were not. If it did cost $100 more a night elsewhere I probably would land right back here again.

Here were the great things about this hotel - we loved the family movie nights with popcorn and soda, it was so close to the capitol and air and space, concierge was really nice and helpful, free breakfast was plentiful and varied, decent size room, kitchen facilities. Only issues were the hot tub which was broken throughout our stay, and the neighborhood which shuts down at night, though with small children that wasn't an issue.
I've already recommended it to friends and will be back for another stay!

The hotel was clean, the employees were very nice/helpful, the rooms were perfect for the over night stay. The breakfast in the morning was also very nice and they make you feel welcome. Will stay again and recommend this hotel in the local area for Spring break and for traveling into the DC area.

We picked this hotel because of its location to the metro and the mall museums. It was a wonderful location and very convenient to the blue line metro and to the east end museums and capitol, quick ride to the Smithsonian stop for the other museums. The staff was by far the greatest asset, Niko at the front desk was wonderful, he helped arrange a birthday party for my son at the hotel and made him feel so special. All the breakfast staff were great, especially Patricia. There were lots of option each day, waffles, eggs, oatmeal, fruit and pastry selections with juice and coffee. The pool worked out well for the kids and they enjoyed it several nights. We had eight in our party so had two rooms, both the studio and the one bedroom were great with kitchenette fully stocked and a kuerig with coffee. Only draw back was the laundry which had almost every washing machine broke. Evening receptions were nice, we met a nice family from Iowa. Nice to have the elevators secured by keycards. Front desk staff arranged tickets for a night monuments tour and we were picked up right at the hotel. Overall every staff member we encountered were so nice and helpful and made our stay great, thanks!

I stayed at this property this past weekend while I was in D.C for a good friend's book launch party. I choose hotels I stay at based on 3 things, Location, Pool & Spa amenities, and how nice the rooms are. In that order. I chose this hotel because I wanted to stay at a property that had an indoor pool and hot tub as I knew that I was going to be touring the monuments and museums and would be sore from walking all day long. We were very upset to find that the hot tub's heater was not working. I made my displeasure known to the front desk staff and management. As annoyed as I was that the spa was not working, EVERY SINGLE staff member that I encountered and spoke with couldn't have been nicer or more apologetic. Instead of having an non caring attitude as I've experienced at other properties, this staff was golden. Down to the people who worked in housekeeping, the people that cleaned up dirty plates at breakfast, and the hotel engineer. In the face of my displeasure, I still couldn't have asked for a friendlier staff.
The rooms were very clean and very roomy!
