“OK location, so so service, comfortable room”

It is within walking distance to the capitol hill, a little bit more walking to most of the museums. The sweet suite even has kitchen and all cookwares, very thoughtful. But there is really no good place to eat nearby. We'll have to call for delivery after a tired day of traveling.

Our stay in this hotel was very pleasant. It is a block from the metro, and only a couple blocks from the mall and capitol buildings. Easily walkable to East Mall area. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable, especially since we stayed a couple weeks. The full size refrigerator was convenient, as well as the small kitchen area. Free morning breakfast was the best we'd seen with enough variety that even though we stayed a while at the hotel, we didn't mind eating there every morning. Free dinner Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday was also convenient--nice not to have to worry about going out after a day at the museums. We didn't use the free grocery service--but it was nice to know it was provided.

Only draw back--the pool was small and crowded. But still better than nothing for the kids at the end of the day. Also, not close to any restaurants (other than McDonalds!). And the parking garage was nightmare to get into, and quite pricey to use (luckily we only had a rental car a couple days). The parking situation is typical for DC--better to use the metro or walk, if you can.

This is a great choice for a quick sightseeing trip to DC, of business meetings at government agencies in the area. The only downsides are 1) train runs by the hotel, so if you are on that side of the building you may hear it rumble past, 2) the hotel is sandwiched between two office buildings, so many of the rooms look directly out into office windows, and 3) there are not many restaurants in the immediate (short-walking distance) vicinity. The hotel does not have a restaurant/bar, although they serve complimentary breakfast and snacks on Monday-Wednesday nights. There are lots of restaurants in the Gallery Place metro area, which is a long walk/short taxi ride away, and there is a new Safeway grocery store about a 10 minute walk towards Waterfront. And the metro is a short 5 minute walk away. The hotel has a fresh, new feel to it, and it is clear the management is trying to make the hotel as accommodating as they can to their guests. I would stay here again.

We just returned from a two night stay at the Residence Inn in DC. Our first surprise from arriving at the Federal Center Metro Station, was how close the hotel was. We were carrying our luggage so this was wonderful. The distance is 2 blocks at the most. It was an extremely easy walk, and the Inn is located in a quiet section of DC - Just south of the Mall area. The staff were very friendly and stored our bags for us since it was about 10:30 am and our room wasn't ready yet. They also have ice cold water with lemon or fruit in it in a dispenser in the lobby. We were there when the temperature reached the high 90's and we really appreciated this. We stayed in a two bedroom suite on the 11th floor. The room was very spacious with two bathrooms. It was great for our family of 5. We enjoyed having the complimentary hot breakfast in the morning. There was plenty to choose from, and unlike most places that offer this, plenty of seating. The light dinners in the evening were great too!
The only negative comments I would have about this hotel would be about the pool area and the location. The pool was pretty small and very cold. The area around the pool needed spruced up a bit and updated. The location is great to getting to the things at the mall, but it isn't very close to many restaurants and things north of the mall. It still worked out, we just ate while we were out at the many attractions. You could easily take the metro to restaurants if you wanted to. There are a few options within a block of the hotel and a starbucks near by too.

The positives far out-weighed the negatives. I would be happy to stay here again.

PROS: 1. gr8 location, convenient to airport/museums/monuments 2. unbelievable customer svc----go out of their way to help in any way possible 3. free daily bkfst, never were out of food 4. free dinner reception Mon/Tues/Wed, never were out of food 5. clean, quiet, secure except for train noise on north side of hotel 6. gr8 gift shop in lobby with all the essentials, even a postage stamp machine 7. starbucks, Subway, 3 deli's within 3-5 min walk 8. metro subway station 3-5 min walk 9. free wireless internet, also have pc and printer in lobby for guest use 10. plenty of hot water and good water pressure for showers, high quality toilets and bathrm fixtures

CONS: 1. rates kinda high but it is a gr8 location with lots to offer 2. daily parking fee ($30) high but not outrageous given the location, and the fact that parking just about anywhere in DC is expensive 3. food served at bkfst and dinner receptions was usually not kept warm so if you didn't dish it up as soon as it was put out it got cold 4. soap purchase dispenser in laundry rm usually on the fritz----they gladly refunded money lost in it but having to do so was a hassle, especially given that they would gladly sell it to you at the desk instead 5. very small pool and hot tub for a hotel this size (13 floors) 6. commented elsewhere in reviews about train noise, esp. in rms ending in 14-16 thru 20, gotta believe it to be true----we were in rm at opposite end of bldg (401 then 1201 on 2nd trip) and even we could hear the trains 7. only grocery/other shopping is at Safeway/CVS pharmacy about 3/8-1/2 mile away, solid brisk 10 min walk thru a somewhat suspect part of town (wouldn't do it at night myself)----could take subway but won't be able to get there directly because of how train lines are routed----would prob take 15 min or more oweing to need to transfer to different line than one running by hotel
