“Best food and dancing !!!”
Review of Habana Village

Habana Village
Reviewed 10 March 2014 via mobile

The food was amazing! The service was amazing. Our waitress was so nice. They have lessons for salsa dancing. After the lessons, the club opens up to anyone. It's a little small but it's worth the trip. Overall, an awesome time and a must on a dc trip.

I went here to learn how to salsa. The instructor was very nice and awesome. She teaches you the correct way to do salsa. I had enough skills to hang with the big league dancers. I really enjoyed myself.

I did take a little while to warm up to Habana Village. You have to go a few times to really start appreciating it (especially after you've tried some of the other salsa spots in DC). Usually no cover for women and only a small cover ($6) for men on weekends (everyone is free on weekdays). They have really great mojitos and margaritas. The dancers are amazing here but don't seem to be annoyed by beginners. I like the fact that they play probably 70% salsa music (the rest being bachata and merengue) unlike some other clubs that bill themselves as salsa joints.

The place is really tiny for dancing, which is the major downside. This is usually not a problem if you come early (right after the lesson). However, many women don't tend to show up until later. The later it gets, the harder it is to dance because it becomes so crowded. I generally leave when it gets to this point.

Still, Habana Village beats the only other true salsa club in the DC area (The Salsa Room) because it's more laid back and doesn't try to be pretentious at all.

My wife and I have been going to this club in Adams Morgan regularly for the last two years. Needless to say, we enjoy Havana Village a lot. This is a great place for Latin dancing, excellent Cuban cuisine and the best mojitos in town. The crowd is absolutely mixed, friendly people, young and old, of virtually all creeds and from all corners of the globe come together here for a good time. The bouncers are big and scary looking and won't admit disrespectful or drunk patrons. However, like the other staff they are actually professional and friendly and can be seen on the dance floor when business is slow.
