Description: Blue Duck Tavern, a contemporary neighborhood restaurant, invites its guests to gather and celebrate in good taste with a menu focusing on the freshest ingredients available from local purveyors and artisans. The menu notes every farm where the main ingredient for the dish was raised before its journey to the table. Dishes are genuine, time-honored and traditional -- slow roasting in wood embers, braising, preserving and smoking techniques bring the true flavors of America's great, simple and wholesome foods to the Blue Duck Tavern. The restaurant has an elegant residential feel through the open staff pantry and kitchen, wood-burning oven and the showpiece Molteni range.

An absolutely exceptional lunch at Blue Duck Tavern. One of the best meals of the year. They just seem to keep getting better every time we go. We may need 6 stars. Service was perfect. Nice wine by the glass list with healthy pour (at the table) and the opportunity to taste your wine first. Honig Sauvignon Blanc was our preference. The menu is always changing a little which makes every visit somewhat unique. Wife had the flatbread app and the shaved Cabbage Salad with Scallops. Perfectly prepared and the scallops were huge. I had Beet Salad for an app and Wood Oven Fired Tuna for my entree. Large, cold beet wedges with crumbled goat cheese and tasty, spicy peanuts(liked those!). The tuna was perfectly rare and a nice warm chorizo stew complemented the dish exceptionally. We visit DC once a year. Can't wait to come back next year!!

Just order the short rib hash and you can thank me later. A savory, delicious way to start the day. We had breakfast every morning of our stay and the service was impeccable throughout.

We had an amazing lunch for 2. The food is worthy of a michelin star restaurant. It's not cheap but worth the splurge. We shared the bone narrow appetizer and the starters (hearty but sophisticate comfort food) were plentiful so good thing we did not order too many sides. we were looking forward to dessert but we were so full that we decided to skip in he end :(

It's one of those restaurants you go to splurge or if in the area (it's in the Hyatt hotel).

Unusual and highly appreciated in details they go to provide source of each product. Good wine selection with generous fillings and we were offered to try before deciding. Interior itself is more formal but fine. There is outside seating available but not in shade when we were there otherwise we would have loved to lunch outside.

Would recommend for special occasion and be ready to splurge.

I have visited the Blue Duck with business colleagues three times now and each time the experience has been outstanding. Excellent design and ambiance, great service and of food that has always met expectations. The menu offers plenty of variety and the wine list comprehensive. The design of the restaurant is slightly unusual. Its not a small place but has been laid out so that if you arrive early and there aren't many other guests around then you don't get agoraphobia. I like the kitchen which is visible so you can see the frenetic activity going on in there.
Can't wait till my next visit.
