Description: Blue Duck Tavern, a contemporary neighborhood restaurant, invites its guests to gather and celebrate in good taste with a menu focusing on the freshest ingredients available from local purveyors and artisans. The menu notes every farm where the main ingredient for the dish was raised before its journey to the table. Dishes are genuine, time-honored and traditional -- slow roasting in wood embers, braising, preserving and smoking techniques bring the true flavors of America's great, simple and wholesome foods to the Blue Duck Tavern. The restaurant has an elegant residential feel through the open staff pantry and kitchen, wood-burning oven and the showpiece Molteni range.

Ordered the bone marrow, charcuterie for starters and the combination was just perfect! Yes I willingly went for the delicious (albeit unhealthy!) bone marrow and it was a delight! My wagyu steak was beautiful, charred on the outside and medium rare (bit on the rarer side) on the inside. My partner ordered chicken he said it was delicious.. Our server was quick, attentive and not too intrusive. They say that the sides of greens come in large bowls, but it wasn't large enough for us so we ordered two different sides, green tomatoes and the daily greens. Reminds me a bit of cumulus in Melbourne Australia but minus the creativity..

My son had stumbled across the Blue Duck recently with some friends and insisted that we stop for a unique appetizer of roasted bone marrow. On his first visit, he asked the staff what the best dish was to order and they said the marrow was by far the most popular. He was sold and two days after that experience, he was dragging me there.

The staff was accommodating for a Sunday lunch crowd and with less than 20 minutes reservation notice, they found room for us on the patio. Drinks were a bit slow in delivery but we were well taken care of and the recommended appetizer was terrific. The only disappointment was that at high noon, breakfast was the only option since it was a Sunday. The short rib hash was tasty but there was quite a bit of oil lying in the bottom of the skillet. Certainly some good hangover food for those trying to recover from the night before.

I would definitely return but be sure to bring your wallet, as you could expect to pay a bit extra for any fine dining in DC.

Our children gave us a gift certificate for the resturant for our anniversary. We arrived a little early but were seated at once. Waiter came over introduced himself and left wine list. Because of the night we ordered Champagne, which came out immeadiately. First course of butter lettece head was very nice, main course arrived, my Tuna was very well prepared and presented. My wife ordered a vegtable plate that had a widfe assortment and they were hot and crisp! We had the wild mushrooms and for dessert we had the cheese board. A VERY PLEASANT evening.

We recently stayed at the Park Hyatt and finished our business meetings rather late, so we decided we would try to get into the Blue Duck without a reservation. It was a Monday night so we were hopeful. The seating hostess was a little put off but a manager came up to hostess station and let us know that he would be able to seat us shortly. Our table was near the kitchen and I could watch what was going on in there as well as the expediter. Since I am a real foodie, it was my pleasure to sit there.

Our waiter, Alex, was very informative and attentive. He made excellent suggestions for both wine and food choices. For our entree, we chose the suckling pig and duck. Both dishes were very good, but I wouldn't call them exceptional either in taste nor in creativity. I have had better food for the same price, but don't get me wrong, really exceptional food isn't being served at every corner. I would suggest this restaurant to those who want a really nice meal in a really nice restaurant with a really nice atmosphere.
