All the best,
This brand new hotel was quite the find. Very nice property with amazing staff who always went the extra mile to ensure all guests were very happy. The neighborhood was very nice and a lovely walk to the mall area. Easily accessible to the Metro or quick taxi service to many locations. Our group stayed three nights and enjoyed every minute. I would highly recommend for all types of travelers!

All the best,
Our stay there was wonderful, we checked in July 4th and checked out July 8th. The rooms were beautiful, spacious and trendy.
All the staff was excellent, a special thank you to Teemon who took extra good care of us and up graded our room to a spectacular view of the Capital lit up at night. Also the gentleman who kept the breakfast area stocked in the morning was such a delight. He (I'm sorry I did not catch his name) always had a smile on his face and greeted everyone with a cheerful "good morning", he made you feel like you were a joy to him just by being there ! You could tell he was a genuine people person.
If traveling back to DC we will definitely stay there again !!

All the best,
This is a brand new Hyatt in the shiny, new, fast-gentrifying part of NoMa. We stayed there for 6 nights in July 2007, and found out as we checked out that the hotel had opened just 5 days before we arrived. It is very accessible, just a five-minute walk along N street from NoMa station on the red line. The rate we got was really affordable for DC. Our room was immaculate -- it seemed like we were the first people to stay in it! We were a huge fan of the room: it was beautifully designed, well laid out, and cozy. The bed was supremely comfortable. We also enjoyed the brand new treadmills in the fitness room. It was really nice to stay in a brand new, gorgeous place.
That said, there are downsides to staying in a new place too. As another reviewer has mentioned, they are still working out the kinks. The elevators were down one night, and the AC went down another evening. (Both were quickly fixed.) But there are two big things that would really have improved our stay:
- Improved traffic flow at breakfast. It is one giant traffic jam, with food constantly running out, and no clear line-up or traffic flow. If you want food, it's a ruthless free-for all and you have to elbow small children out of the way. When you finally escape with your scraps, you realize the cutlery is back over in the toaster area and you have to dive back into the fray. The free breakfast had been a big bonus for us, but it was so chaotic that after 2 days we decided it wasn't worth it and went to Starbucks for the rest of our stay.
- Improved hot water & pressure in the shower. In our room, we had a hard time getting hot water and the water pressure was very low. On the weekend, when the hotel was busier, it took about 15 minutes for the shower to even get WARM. And in our 6-night stay neither of us had a shower that was consistently hot. We mentioned this at checkout and they seem to be addressing it.
Despite these two big downsides, I'd recommend this hotel as a pleasant place to say. Just don't count on the complimentary breakfast.

All the best,
This hotel opened at the end of June and we stayed the first week of July. Everything was nice and new with a beautiful modern look. The hotel had a few minor kinks but that is expected. They had to work out the issues but it didn't bother our stay. They only problem I had was with the free breakfast. I was very pleased with the breakfast brochure I downloaded from the hotel website but was slightly disappointed when I arrived for breakfast. The brochure showed fresh Belgium waffles but they were absent from the breakfast display. After the first morning I stopped going down to the lobby for breakfast because I was disappointed in the selection. We stayed for 6 nights and finally on the 3rd morning my mother asked for some waffles and Stacy quickly made her three hot and fresh waffles. I loved them when she brought them to me. Now, if you eat breakfast cereal and breakfast sandwiches then you're in luck. Plenty of breads and sandwiches to go around but I'm not a fan. On our final morning I went to check out and kindly asked for a waffle and was told that waffles aren't apart of the breakfast menu at that time. My mother can only drink decaf coffee and Stacy made sure that she had it brewed or would quickly get her a cup to start her morning, I know they had a problem with people taking too much for breakfast. They can't monitor the portion sizes but people should have the common courtesy to take only a few items.... not 8 breakfast sandwiches and 10 french toast slices for one person. This happened!!!!
Be honest when you reserve your room. If you plan on having four people in your room during your stay, make sure you reserve the room for four people. You might be charged more but you have more people staying with you. The kitchen staff receives the guest number and only cook for that many people each morning. If every room has two extra guests in their room without the hotel knowing then the kitchen won't have enough food prepared.
Hotel is a quick walk to the Metro station and the hotel staff was also eager to offer help with travel reservation or directions.
The rooms were huge! Two queen beds and a sitting room with a pull out couch. I don't know why anyone would say the rooms were small because the room has more space than most rooms in a big city. It is so hard to find a hotel in any city that offers two queens bed alone but Hyatt Place also includes a pull out couch.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience as we always like to get feedback both good and bad. I am delighted you enjoyed the first Hyatt Place in Washington, DC. A good stay starts with receiving everything you expect from a clean crisp room to being greeted by well trained staff that put the guest comfort first. You can be sure we will address your concerns so that others are not disappointed as you were.
We look forward to your next visit to the Hyatt Place Washington, DC/US Capitol
All the best,
