“Nice hotel”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

We stayed at the Hyatt a few weeks ago and the hotel is lovely. It is clean and new and the rooms are a good size. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. While I did not use the free breakfast, my husband and son did and LOVED it!!!

The only negative (and I use this term lightly) is that you may have a bit of a wait for your car with the valet as they are very busy and the hotel is on the outskirts of downtown so it is a longer walk to places. However, we used our car and always found parking except near the Holocaust Memorial Center.

I would highly recommend this hotel in general.

Room Tip: I did not know that they have rooms with a view of the Capital and National Monument. This would be...

Great hotel, courteous staff, affordable, and very close to attractions. The area is up and coming, so there are some signs of its previous state, but overall it was a very pleasurable stay. They also offer a free breakfast buffet to guests which fueled us for a big day of sightseeing.. One thing though ... They told us to use the metro but cab rides were much easier and a fraction of the cost plus the cab drivers offered so much information...

I stayed at the Hyatt Place at the end of July. I loved everything about this hotel. The front desk staff (Ashley, Loubna and Sara) were great and very professional. The General Manager Stacey Smith is wonderful, accommodating and very knowledgeable about places to go and explore in DC. When I arrived (booked my room through priceline.com) I found that my name was not sent to the hotel by priceline but the GM (Stacey) called priceline and straightened out everything with one phone call. Thanks again! My sister and her family were also staying at Hyatt Place and we all had a wonderful time. The rooms are specious, super clean, modern and new. The location may not be be bang in the downtown area but the metro station is just a block and half away from the hotel and 3 metro stops away to the downtown area. There is Starbucks, CVS, Walgreens, a supermarket and good sandwich places within 2 - 3 blocks from Hyatt Place. I highly recommend Hyatt Place to those travelling with children. The complimentary breakfast in the morning is so convenient with good selection of breakfast items (including cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, bagels, muffins etc.). We took my niece to the hotel swimming pool which was super clean and well maintained where she had a good swim while my sister and I relaxed on the deck chairs. All in all I don't have any negative thing to say about this hotel. The staff were very helpful, pleasant and lively bunch. Will def. stay there again.

This hotel was only opened three weeks when checked it. It is located in a rapidly changing neighborhood called NOMA. The hotel is only 11/2 blocks from the metro red line. The room was great. We were on the 14th floor with a view of the Capital and the Washington Monument. The room had a king bed, a sectional sofa with a pull out and a mini frig. The also offered a full breakfast with what I thought early hours-6:30 - 9:00 a.m. Mon-Fri and 7-10 on the weekends, The food was good but they had a hard time restocking items.
The gym is nice and pool though small was pleasant.
The staff is incredibly friendly and very eager to please.
We will be staying there again.

We’d never been to a Hyatt Place concept before, but we definitely liked the cool and casual vibe. You can’t quite call it boutique, but it’s a step in that direction. Maybe it was still the honeymoon period, but all of the staff seemed well-trained and enthusiastic, with helpful smiles everywhere we looked. We didn’t end up utilizing the valet because parking overnight just seemed to work out on N Street behind. The neighborhood seems to be gentrifying bit by bit, and there’s a strip with Starbucks and McDonalds on First Street not too far away. Floor-to-ceiling windows make for impressive views; it was just a bit awkward opening the blinds since you have to basically clamber across the bed to access the chain. With the exception of some dust build-up on the bathroom vent, the place was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We heard our neighbors through the suite-share door, but luckily they weren’t too noisy. Wifi was a little glitchy, but there were plenty of plugs in all the right places. We weren’t too unhappy to miss the 9am breakfast cutoff since it gave us a chance to discover a great coffee place in Georgetown. Without our sweet hotels.com discount we might have been more critical, but overall we were pretty happy with our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing N street seem like they're probably quieter

Heard from the GM how great the area surrounding this place will be one day. Good for Hyatt - they got the land for cheap. Auto mechanic is next door, nowhere nice to walk to unless you want Falafel. This is my 6th Hyatt Place and although its clean & smells nice, there are some things lacking. WiFi was down all night (What is that?). Plus, all HP's have a "connection center" to hook up a DVD player, charge an IPOD, etc.. Not here - you've got to call Engineering to hook up your DVD player to the TV! What is this, 1980? The breakfasts are OK, but the quality is so-so. How many times can you eat buscuits & gravy? Dinner is not complementary and pretty expensive. My little one & I ordered dinner, she a pizza and me a breakfast sandwich. The wrong item was ordered, prompting the right thing being ordered. When the right item came, the server rinsed the silverware in the capuccino maker's water spigot. Best part is the new Hyatt Grand beds and got to see the Capitol dome lit up all night. What a place!

Room Tip: Dinner was too pricey and tastes terrible. Lots of kids because the rooms are cheap. Not close to any...

Teemon in the bar area was so amazing. She was helpful, warm, friendly, had loads of personality. She is an amazing asset to Hyatt, the kind of employee that you come back to a hotel looking forward to seeing again.
