“Great tour!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2008

The 6:00 tour was the last thing we did after a long day of walking around D.C. and it ended up being one of the biggest highlights of our trip to D.C. Our tour guide, Brody, was great. He was able to keep our older kids (10 and 8) interested and involved in the tour with historical facts and funny stories you might have never heard otherwise. You start near the Washington Monument and end at the Lincoln Memorial...it's a long walk but you hardly notice because the tour is so entertaining and educational.

No tip is required but I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to leave one after seeing how well done the tour is and how hard these guys have worked to make it fun and educational. We will definitely do this tour again on our next trip to D.C.

“Well worth the tip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2008

We can see why TripAdvisor has this as the number one attraction. Ben was a wonderful guide, engaging with our group and took special interest in the small boy in our group and incorporated him into his tour. He was outgoing and joking, but very knowledgeable. We were very impressed with his facts about the Vietnam Monument, and that he showed a great deal of respect as he described all the details and thoughts of what went into the design of this monument. Two in our group were Vietnam vets so it made an impression. This tour is definitely worth the price of the tip.

“Adds color to the gray monuments”

Excellent tour. Not really "meaty" in the sense of information, but there are some good tidbits. Mostly it is a great way to check out the Mall with some entertainment thrown in. Our guide was clearly having a great time, and the price is certainly right! Leave a good tip, he's working hard for it.

“Great City, Great Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2008

We were in DC for 1 and a half days roughly, so really we had only 1 day to take advantage of the city, so as you can imagine we took advantage of this and were out roughly for 12 hours on foot looking around prior to this.

We decided to do the 6pm tour and met up with Broady on Constition Av. He was really helpful & sociable and helped us plan our way back to the airport the following day.

The tour itself was excellent, even though we had already seen some of the sights earlier that day, he told us little facts / stotories that we didn't know and were actually quite interesting. He made the group laugh which is always a good thing and even showed us a few things the guide book didn't have in. It should be noted that we absolutely tired when getting to this tour but it was really worth it.

The tour is free and these guys purely reley on tips - so take the tour, learn a few new things, have a laugh and just take in DC.

“Lived up to its #1 ranking!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2008

I was drawn to this tour because while I have visited the DC monuments many times, I hadn't seen the monuments with a guide since elementary school. I'm a sucker for guided tours because I love learning facts and trivia that might not be picked up from reading plaques or brochures. Our two tour guides, Ben and Brody, did not disappoint! It was Memorial Day weekend, and I think even they were a little surprised to see a crowd of 100+ gather for the walk. It was no problem, though - I think everyone was able to hear and stay together (thanks to the guides' neon orange hats), and I am pretty sure the entire crowd made it to the end besides ithe tour taking about 30 extra minutes due to the crowds everywhere.

The tour began at the corner of Constitution and 15th (very close to the White House), and we walked to the Washington Monument, the World War II Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. The tour group was given the chance to walk through the WWII Memorial and up close along the Vietnam Wall. While we didn't get close to the Jefferson Memorial, the guys did talk about it during one of the stops between monuments. They talked about the White House and Signers' Island (monument to signers of the Declaration of Independence) as well.

There was certainly no shortage of trivia or laughs on this tour! Ben and Brody were both very enthusiastic, entertaining and intelligent - they really knew their stuff. I highly recommend the tour, even if you're in DC over a crowded holiday weekend!
