This is a very nice hotel. Service is great. The only downfalls of the hotel is that the bathrooms are not very private, the sink is in an open area and the toilet and shower are behind a frosted glass door. So if you want privacy this isnt for you. The other is on the internet it has a pool, when we asked where the pool was we were told it is at a sister hotel on Connecticut Avenue, not very practical when the kids want to swim. The hotel sets in a good area as well. When we were looking all the hotels seemed to look nice but wasnt sure about the areas. I am so glad we stayed in Dupont Cirlce. The hotel is close to many eateries and stores and the metro is across the street. We seen some of the other hotels when we were there and on the internet they were beautiful but the areas of some of them not so good. Actually got to see a motorcade go into the White House.

I spent a very hot weekend in DC for the Fancy Food Show.
The Dupont Circle Hotel was great.
From the moment I arrived at reception I was greeted by a wonderful young lady who grew up in Boston near me and could not do enough for me. The room was really nice with all of the amenitys that I could possible want. Everything was very clean. Plenty of room for 1 or 2 people. Bathroom was interesting with an open shower like in Europe. Very comfortable bed and large flat screen TV. I used the business center for checking my emails and printing off my return boarding pass. Very convenient.
Hotel location is in a great area with lots of good restaurants and close to the Metro. I look forward to staying there again.

Room Tip: Just be nice to the people in reception and ask for an upgrade if possible.

We have stayed in this hotel through several iterations over the years, so it only seemed right to go back for our 40th anniversary. We find the latest re-do true mimimalist decor - but the beds were comfortable, the shower was fine and the location remains superb! A warning for contact lense wearers....the bathroom counters and floors are not conducive to retrieving a dropped lens. It disappears, and you are reduced to the old "gently pat the surface" method.

I was in Washington, DC for a seminar. The hotel was accessible to a lot of stores and activities. Easy access to the Metro. Hotel and lounge were very nice., Concierge very helpful in arranging a group for us. The rooms have wireless internet service which is helpful.

Rooms average around 250 a night. However, the money is worth it! This hotel has a great staff and awesome amenities. The location is also pristine.

The rooms were well sized and nicely appointed. After reading other reviews I was anticipating a see through shower space--not the case. The bathroom door is frosted glass and then the shower is past another marble half wall. I thought it was plenty private.

However, the two issues I did have at the hotel were with the temperature in the room and the blinds on the windows.

The windows had wood slat blinds that may as well have been open for how much light was streaming into the room. I am not an early riser and even after a late night there was really no way to sleep past 7:30am. There were no curtains or even rods or hooks to try to diffuse the light with a sheet or towel. If you're up early or stay in the winter when it's darker in the morning you may be fine but if you're on vacation and want to sleep in you may want to look elsewhere.

The temperature in my room fluctuated between 73 and 78 degrees--yes that's right, nearly 80 IN the hotel room. After calling the engineer because it wouldn't dip below 73 we decided to move to a new room. The new room (west facing) received afternoon sun through the closed blinds which heated the room to a whopping 78. Though we had the thermostat set for 67 it never dropped below 73. We called the engineer in again to try to remedy the problem. Hotel staff informed us the thermostats didn't individually control the rooms because it would fluctuate too much room to room so it was controlled centrally by the hotel. When we complained it was too hot they apologized but said if it was changed then other rooms would be too cold. Needless to say I saw staff delivering box fans to guest rooms.

If it were an inexpensive or discount/travel hotel you could probably write off the problems but for a nice hotel I expected much more.
