“On Duport Circle--convenient to Metro and all of DC”
Reviewed 27 August 2011

We normally stay at another hotel close by, but decided to give the Dupont a try. We were pleasantly surprised, but it is not for everyone. I would stay here again if my favorite hotel is totally booked.

Pros: Great location on the circle, close to Metro station, free wi-fi, and we were able to walk practically everywhere. The wall-to-wall windows on the lobby level give a great view to all the action outside. The entire hotel is very modern and stylish, but the atmosphere is still warm and inviting with great service. There is coffee in the lobby and many places to just sit and lounge, and The Cafe was convenient for a nice weekend brunch. We were impressed by the large bathroom, which was spacious and modern, with a heated floors and an actual functioning window (in the shower area). The beds were also very nicely dressed with triple-sheeting and cozy duvet.

Con: Stayed in a double-bed room with 3 people and it was very tight. With 2 beds and a huge desk, the room size was better suited for a single king bed. As stated in other reviews, there is no door to the bathroom area--the vanity area is open to the room--and the only door is a frosted glass door separating the vanity area from the toilet and shower. People not comfortable with sharing their personal space may look elsewhere. Poeple looking for a bathtub will also be disappointed. There is only a glass partition separating the toilet and shower, meaning a lot of water everywhere. The plantation shutters on the windows look nice, but not very functional as the sun started shining through the slats--a huge negative for anyone wanting to sleep in.

We stayed at the Dupont Circle Hotel while in town for business and pleasure and stayed on Level 9. The floor is very nice. A private elevator brings you to a lounge area on teh 9th floor where you may help yourself to snacks, coffee tea, appetisers, beer, wine, champaign, liquor, etc. all day.
Our room was down the hall and was an average size with king bed, sitting area, huge marble bath with shower and seperate soaking tub (no problem with the bathrooms, all quite private). We also had a comp. full bar in our room.
The staff was so helpful and very nice. We'll be back for sure - gotta watch for those Groupon deals!

Room Tip: Look for online deals though Groupon.

Just a couple short blocks from the Metro station, this place has been recently renovated with stylish tho smallish rooms. One side of the hotel overlooks Kramer Books (an old fave) and Firehook Bakery (ditto). Our room, which was on that side, also caught sirens and dumpster-loading noise, didnt sleep all that well as a result. The bar downstairs is great, happy hour 4-6. Staff was very helpful.

I spent 3 nights at the hotel and had a relaxed and nice time. Despite the fact that I went to DC on business, I did nit feel like that at the hotel. It has a great atmosphere and the bar is very popular. The hotel is modern and clean and the staff is very friendly. I will go back.

The good: convenient location, near metro, nice, safe area, with good restaurants, things to do.
The bad: the noise, from Dupont Circle, and the street; the small, crowded rooms (closet was size of my high school locker), and the glass wall between bathroom, and room. Sink has no vanity area. Other reviewers wrote there are no doors between bathroom, and room. It is true. No door. Worse, the glass panels don't meet, so anyone in the room could view almost anything going on in bathroom. No privacy when sitting on the commode.
Fitness center looks modern, but lights are dim, the floor has carpeting, and did not seem clean. It smelled of pesticide and mold.
The ugly: cockroaches, and other bugs. I hope we didn't bring any home with us. Staff was friendly, but not helpful, making promises, and having to call front desk numerous times to get results.
