In our many travels, seldom ventured off the "known" brands and chains. The reviews were pretty good, but everything about the stay so far, far exceeding my expectations. Location, service, amenities, room quality, getting an accessible room so that our family of 4 had a bit more room...something you seldom see in large big city hotels. Have 3 more nights here and hoping it will provide for the respite we were looking for.

Room Tip: Handicapped room allows for a bit more room.

We stayed at this hotel over the July 4th weekend. Found a great deal on Priceline for this hotel, but I accidentally booked from July 3-6, when our flight was actually July 2nd (big oops). I was able to add an extra night through Priceline. We arrived to the Dupont Circle Hotel and was pleasantly greeted by the Bellman. Walked to the Front Desk and was greeted by Deandre, who was very professional and serious (didn't really crack a smile). We explained our hotel booking situation to him and we requested a room on the higher floors (thanks to a few tips from other reviewers) and double beds (our son is 10 and can't sleep in the same bed with us). Deandre told us he would have to give us what was available, which was understandable. He managed to put us in a room on the 8th floor with double beds and it was a perfect room for us! The view was to the side street, same side as the Bar Dupont (located in the hotel), but since we were on the 8th floor, there was no noise to be heard...so quiet! We went out to dinner, but when we came back, there was a letter stating that since the double rooms were already booked by other guests, they would have to move us to a different room for the remaining nights. We were upset by this and my husband went downstairs to discuss this with them. He was told that we will have to check for possible cancellations in the morning, but the manager could waive the rollaway bed fee due to the inconvenience. The next morning, there were no cancellations and the Bellman held our luggage for the day.

We returned later that day and we were checked into a King size room, which turns out to be right next door to the room we stayed the night before. We asked for a rollaway bed and explained the conversation about the manager waiving the fee and was told by one of the female front desk staff that they would check with Housekeeping to see if there were any available. The king room was a good size and glad that they kept us on the higher floor. After waiting about 30 minutes, my husband called the front desk to ask for extra towels and to check on the rollaway bed and was told that they didn't have any beds available. We were upset by this because they knew that morning that we needed one! We started thinking that maybe it was due to booking through Priceline that they were treating us so poorly. Housekeeping brought up the towels about 10 minutes later and my husband took a chance and asked him if they had any rollaway beds. He said "yes, I think so. If I have any, I'll bring one up". We waited about 30 minutes and decided to step out for dinner. On our way to the elevators, we saw a rollaway bed that looks like it was being set up, but there was no one around to ask, so we left. When we returned, to our pleasant surprise, there was a rollaway bed set up in our room at the foot of the bed! We were able to walk around the bed, so it worked out perfectly! We didn't get a call from Front Desk about an error, so we are still unsure if the gentleman from Housekeeping did this for us, or if the front desk did.

After these few "bumps" at the beginning of our hotel stay, the rest of the stay was really very pleasant! The hotel provided us with eye masks, which really helped (our son used this every night), since the light comes through very early! The first room (double room) had a blind that pulls down, but didn't really help the lighting too much, but the second room (king room) didn't have one. The double room did not have a shower curtain, so water would splash out of the shower, but the king room had a shower curtain, which really helped! The shower in our king room had an additional shower head, about chest level, which is probably why they installed a shower curtain. My son shocked himself with a good face splashing when he was turning the shower off, but turned the handle too much the other way (pretty funny). I'm guessing the additional showerhead is so the hair doesn't get wet or intended for the back.

The hotel is conveniently located across from the Metro (Dupont Circle) and convenient to great places to eat for breakfast. On the Sunday that we were leaving, there was a really nice Farmer's Market set up, a block from the hotel (by the escalator to the Metro). Many young people staying at this hotel. The Bellmen were super nice and held the doors open all the time with a big smile. Water bottles were complimentary in the room and by the Bellman, which was great for us, on our touring of the museums. Free wi-fi in the room and complimentary coffee (7am - 9am) was also a plus! For coffee lovers, there is a Starbucks right next to the hotel and enjoy that with a hot, fresh Krispy Kreme donut, located across the circle (another entrance to the Metro right there too)! Also convenient to the DC Circulator (bus travels to Georgetown and Rosslyn for $1).

Room Tip: Three elevators move quick, so it helps to stay on a higher floor where it is definitely quieter...

I chose this hotel for its location mainly. It was around the corner from the Dupont Circle Metro, and the White House is in walking distance. The hotel is very nice, well decorated and the beds are comfortable.

However a few things...we asked for a coffee machine for the room. This was brought up very quickly; however there were no instructions regarding use. We gave it a go, but gave up in favour of sightseeing. The next morning, it was removed by the cleaner and not replaced. We decided not to approach the front desk about this, as we weren't that convinced it was worth our time. The staff were not oozing with friendliness.

We did have a drink in the bar the first night; drinks aren't cheap as you would expect, and the bar was heaving. It was a Saturday night, so it was busy until late. Unfortunately our room was directly above the bar. I would have asked to move rooms for our 3 night stay, if I wasn't already using ear plugs to block out mum's snoring! It was the weekend after all, though was still noisy on Monday night.

We ate breakfast on our last morning in the restaurant; it was nice but over priced. The worst thing, besides my headache that morning was the service. The waitress just looked fed up to be there..no smile, and everything was a hassle. It wasn't the sort of service I expect when in the States.

Unfortunately I wouldnt choose to stay here again, if I return to Washington. Luckily the service received elsewhere in this great city made up for this.

Truly enjoyed our stay. We were close to the metro stop so we could get anywhere in the city easily. We arrived very early (10am) and to my surprise we were able to check in without a hassle. The woman working the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The gentleman at checkout- not so much.
We stayed on the 5th floor in the back of the building which was very quiet. Eye masks were provided incase you were bothered by the light that came through the blinds early morning.
We ate in the bar Sunday night. The service was fine and food and drinks were great. I plan on staying in this hotel again soon.

During our stay in Washington DC we stayed at this stylish hotel. Upon arrival the staff gave us a warm welcome and were very friendly during our stay.

The room was very clean, including the carpet and the bathroom. There is free wifi and water in the hotel and in the room. Unfortunately we had a early wake up on the first day because of water coming out of the ceiling. After informing the staff they took care of it very soon. It turned out that one of the airconditionings on the room top had some maintenance going on and leaked water. Also the shutters let quite a lot of light through so it also caused a early wake up. Other then that it's a very nice hotel and I would stay here again when visiting Washington DC.

Room Tip: Keep the shutters shut during the day to keep the heat out. The hotel is located a 20 minute walk f...

Thank you for being a guest of our hotel. When we had one of our engineers check the A/C of your room, it was working, but we definitely are sorry to hear it didn't meet your comfort level. Due to the room capacity of the busy 4th of July weekend, we wanted to try and accommodate you any way we could and that's why we offered the fan. Although not an ideal option, we wanted to be able to offer something to create a more pleasant stay for you with the options available to us.
