I booked this hotel last minute when a day trip to DC to tour colleges was extended to an overnight trip. From the moment my reservation was taken the staff was helpful and polite. They made sure we had the hypoallergenic pillows we needed and sent someone up quickly to fix the heater as it got really cold at night. We asked the staff for a restaurant recommendation which we we thought would be difficult since I'm on a GF diet and my daughter is a vegetarian . The hostess from the restaurant next store was in the lobby and quickly announced that she could accommodate us. The meal was fabulous.
The location is great . Right near GWU and the Foggy Bottom metro.
The room was spacious with a king bed which was very comfy, a kitchenette and a sleeper sofa.since we were touring GWU we got a great rate. I highly recommend this hotel.

Dear MSRLK,

Thank you for posting a review of our hotel on Trip Advisor. We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay. I am glad to see that the colleagues gave you the hypo-allergenic pillows and heater in your room.

Our restaurant, Notti Bianche is excellent. Of course I am bias, but I am so pleased that one of our servers caught you in the lobby and the kitchen was able to create a wonderful meal for you.

If you find yourself back in DC again, we would love to have you back as our guest.

We stayed at the GWU Inn for a conference and family vacation. The hotel is quite outdated. The room was small and the bathroom was tiny and very outdated. It is not that handicap accessible for my 94 year old grandmother. To get on the elevator you have to go outside through the garage. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful however.

Dear Minniapples,

Thank you for your recent review on Tripadvisor. We always like to hear from our guests so that we can celebrate our success and work on our shortcomings.

We were sorry to see that you thought our rooms were small. When you checked in, all of our accessible rooms were occupied. Due to te age of the doorways are smaller then newer builds and the hotel is grandfathered out of many of the currently laws. In an effort to enhence the building and accommodate our guests, we recently had a study done of the hotel to see what improvements we can done. Once we recieve the report we will review the recommendations and take any necessary action.

Our colleagues here are what make this hotel so special and I know they will be pleased to see that you commented on their friendliness.

We headed to downtown Washington D.C. for the day and I was looking for somewhere that would give us walkability in the city. As with any city, the closer you are to the center the more expensive the hotel. I really like the Georgetown area and was excited to find deal on bookit.com for George Washington Inn and less than $100 for the night. This was great since having a hotel within walking distance would allow us to avoid excess parking fees. The deal with bookit.com came to a grand total of $116 including hotel rate, taxes, and free parking.

When we arrived on Saturday morning around 11am we weren't sure what to do with the car so we pulled into the drive. GWI is located in a somewhat residential location in Foggy Bottom so there were no parking lots and pretty full street parking. I ran inside to find out the details and she said I could go ahead and pull my car up to the garage and leave it there and that they already had a room available for us. The lobby was small but open and pristine and there was a table with cookies, candy, and a flavored water pitcher throughout the time we were there. The bellman helped us take our bags out of the car and carried them to our room for us.

The room was a great surprise, it was HUGE. We walked in to a very spacious living room with small kitchen, table and chairs, desk for computers, sleeper sofa and arm chair and television inside the armoir. The kitchen included a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and all dishes and utensils. The bedroom off of the living room was also spacious and had a huge king bed right in the middle as well as a tv and full-size closet. The bathroom was older but in great shape and roomy enough. Even the extra toilet paper was wrapped in green ribbon.

We chose this hotel because it was a little over a mile from the National Mall and that was the reason we were there. After checking in we started our trek and arrived at the mall around 1pm. We had such a great time and I was so grateful that we didn't have to worry about limited parking or paying to park at all. After a full day, around 8pm, we walked from the Lincoln Memorial back to the hotel to look up places to get some food. We asked for a recommendation at the front desk but he gave us the name of a casual restaurant and we were so worn out we really just wanted fast food. It turns out there were quite a few restaurants within a few block radius so we settled on the college campus Potbelly just two blocks away and bought a 2-liter at the attached campus convenience store. Down the stairs from Potbelly was also a whole food court. We took the food back to the room and had a comfortable night's sleep before the long drive home in the morning.

At check-out they wanted to charge me for parking even though it came free with the reservation but they weren't hasty and said they would look into it. I called a couple of days later and between that and a simple email communication with bookit.com, the issue was resolved and we were not charged for the parking. I think this was just an error in the translation of the 3rd party booking.

I would definitely recommend this as a clean, comfortable, and convenient place to stay when visiting DC attractions. Even DC cupcakes was only a mile away in the other direction but we never had time to go there.

Dear Aubrau,

We are so delighted that you enjoyed our hotel as well as a majority of the sites our Nation's Capital has to offer. Our location does make it easy to get around town wether you are walking, biking or taking the Metro. We are also pleased that you liked our large rooms. It does offer plenty of room for our guests to make themselves to feel at home.

The next time you are in town, we certainly hope you will stay with us again. We will try and get you over to Georgetown cupcake!

I stayed with my Aunt 2 weeks ago and this hotel was perfect! She is on a wheelchair so it is not easy to find a place that makes her feel comfortable without stress or problems. The hotel is located very close to everything, museums, bars, hotels, lake, everything!!!

The Front Desk staff is very friendly and helpfull, we stayed for 3 nights and they made us feel welcome and home with nice and warm words... The shut down was taking place and we were not able to see anything we planned to see but the front desk staff helped us find other places to visit and that was great!

Rooms are very comfrotable, full kitchen and nice bathrooms. I slept in a sofabed and it was pretty comfrotable, even for a plain sofa, It was very good!! Kosta, a great guy who was always on top of anything we might need and specially anything my aunt needed... a gold person for that hotel, dot you ever loose him!

Thank you GWUINN for all your attentions.

Dear Laupa28,

Thank you for your recent review on Trip Advisor. We are so happy that you and your aunt enjoyed your stay with us. Our location is very nice since we are a short walk to most memorials and the Metro. Our sofa bed mattresses were just replaced a few months ago and it is nice to know that you had a good night slip on one.

Kosta is a true gem and we will be sure to pass on your shining praises to him. We hope the next time you are in the area, you stay with us again.

I had a reservation for an air bnb for parents weekend. When the person unexpectedly cancelled a week before, I looked for an available hotel. There was a room at the GW Inn. I wanted a place for my daughter to stay with us, if she chose to. The staff was fantastic. Although the hotel needs some updating, the rooms were large. We got a king suite, which had a sofa bed good for one. The bed was comfortable, the temperature adequate, the provisions good. I would easily stay there again, especially if they continue to have staff like Sarah and Brian.

Dear Robin S,

We are very happy that you enjoyed your recent stay with us over Parent's Weekend. This is a weekend that we look forward to each year. Our suites are spacious and the sofa beds make it easy for you to have a guest. We are looking into changing a few things in the rooms over the year such a carpeting and lighting.

We take great pride in the colleages we have here at the hotel and I will pass on your kind words to Brian and Sarah.
