“Great updated room - service could have been better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2013 via mobile

Our room was newly updated and overall clean. However, when we arrived, there was no toilet paper (took more than 30 minutes for some to be sent up), 1 bar of soap to share between the shower and sink for the first 3 nights, 1-1.25 oz bottle of shampoo for 4 people to share for the first 3 nights, no privacy sign, and no hotel guide. On our last day, housekeeping kept slamming the storage door next to us starting at 8:30am. At 8:45am she rang the bell to make up the room - although we hadn't checked out. The door bell was so alarming it sounded like a fire alarm. We left something behind in the room and called a couple of hours after we checked out. We were promised a follow up call from housekeeping - but it has been more than a couple of days and no call back. All in all - the room was lovely (although) the automatic drapes were falling down and the room was clean.

We stayed here for 4 nights, while sightseeing in Washington. This hotel is FABULOUS! It's in a great location. The Metro Center Metro stop is accessible through the lobby. Lots to see and do within walking distance, and also easy to get to with the Metro. The Metro is very easy to use. The hotel staff were all very personable and helpful. We had the "bed and breakfast" plan, so breakfast was included daily. The buffet breakfast was superb!! The room was big, very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Will definitely choose this hotel again next time we travel to DC for vacation.

It is a pleasure to read about your recent experience at our property. I am delighted you found the location to be great and the staff to be very helpful. It sounds like you really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. We have a great buffet offered in The Grand Cafe with a variety of food options for guests to enjoy. Your recommendation is very much appreciated. We look forward to your return the next time your travel brings you to D.C.

We arrived at the hotel around 11:00am, and checked-in; as it was early, our room was not ready - not a big deal. We went out and saw some sights, around 3:00 (normal check-in time) we called to see if our room was ready - it was. Figuring we might as well grab dinner while we were out, we didn't end up getting to the hotel until 7:00pm. Upon trying to check-in, we hit a snag. The desk clerk spent the next 45 minutes trying to figure out if our room was ready....ugh. This was not fun as my 2 children and my husband were waiting on the couches, having been traveling and sight seeing since 5:00am. After finding a manager who supposedly checked my room for readiness we were finally given a key. (Keep in mind, there are 4 of us). The room was nice, but only had 3 towels total, a bottle of conditioner (no shampoo) and none of the other toiletries that normally equip the room. I asked a maid in the hall that night for towels and was told that she didn't have any, couldn't get any and had no idea when some might be ready. I was tired and ready to give up, so I just tried calling the front desk - we tried for 15 minutes to get someone either at the desk, concierge or room service. No calls were even answered. I gave up. The next morning, I was able to find someone who was able to rectify the towel/shampoo situation and they also gave us a credit for our inconvenience, but it was a horrible impression to make on a guest. The bright star of the trip was Gladys from the Grand Slam sports bar/restaurant in the lobby. We mentioned to her what a debacle it was checking in, and the next afternoon when we stopped back at our room, she had sent us an ice bucket with four beers, two bags of chip and some dip with a little card telling us she hopes we enjoy our vacation!

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt this past week for the Craft Brewers Conference that was being held in DC and it was one of the properties that the conference promoted due to the fact it is a very easy walk to the convention center. On a beautiful day, it would be a very a very, very pleasant walk.
I was in one of the newly rennovated rooms, which is quite lovely. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and it is a nice room layout. Shower is quite nice and the bathroom is quite spacious. They have full length mirrors, which I'm finding more and more hotels do not have, and brand new furniture. The team at the front desk were extremely pleasant upon check in and the bellman was extremely helpful.
Unfortunately, the day we arrived I had a pounding headache. When I reached my room, got settled in and was actually going to take a nap, the Chipmunk's new movie came on full volume in the room next to me to the screams of the very excited children who sang every song. The walls are quite thin and you can hear much of what is happening up and down the hall.
The next morning, the construction began both inside and outside the hotel promptly at 8am and made it absolutely impossible to sleep. The construction outside the hotel is in no way the hotel's fault, however, both sets of construciton- every morning for the four mornings we were there, got to wear quite thin after a while after combining it with the kids that stayed the same amount of time in the next room over that really liked the Chipmunks.
I will say that we ate at Cure, the restaurant in the bottom of the hotel and what a neat concept and very, very good food! I love the idea and the drinks are so outside the box and neat! I would give it a try if you like to try new things - especially the bubble teas!
All in all, this was a good hotel. The rennovations are very nice, once they will be completed and it is in a fantastic location if you have a conference.

We had a newly renovated room at the Grand Hyatt. We found the hotel to be quiet and very convenient to restaurants and attractions. The main benefit of this hotel is the on site Metro station. If you arrive from DCA via Metro, you need to go to the Red Line level and head towards the 11th St exit. You will see a sign for the Grand Hyatt. I will definitely stay here again.

Stayed in DC in march, this place is GREAT well located and super staff. Transportation was easy since the metro is right there . Believe it or not this hotel is family friendly and actually does movies even though I was here on business, wife and kids had a good time.Netrate helped us with all the details and got us a great package. If your going to DC I would think this is a great place to stay for all occasions.Check it out for yourself

This hotel is in a great location for getting to everything within Washington. There is a metro station located under the hotel. The staff were very helpful at every point and the room was clean and comfortable. Ideal for families and they have film evenings with popcorn for the kids! I would definitely recommend this hotel to any one visiting the city.
