Location is the best thing about this Hyatt. Close to Chinatown, Verizon center downtown. Easy access to the Metro from within the hotel is a plus. Wanted to like this Hyatt as I am a fan, but this property pales in comparison to other grand Hyatt properties. Rooms are on the small side with "public" style bathroom/toilet. We had room facing inside atrium (10th floor) which was noisy and lots of echo noise late at night and early morning which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. Bed was comfortable but heating/cooling vent blew right on you in bed (expected in a lesser hotel, not a $300/night Hyatt). I have stayed at nearby JW Marriott on Pennsylvania ave which was comparable in price but superior overall. Smallish fitness center but functional.

Enjoyed my recent stay at the Grand Hyatt. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient - check in and check out were both easy and quick. The doorman was always attentive, helping us get a cab when we needed one. The hotel location is great - restaurants and shopping within walking distance of the hotel.

My room was spacious and clean. The bed was made sharp and tight each day and the bathroom was spotless. I appreciate having a mini-fridge in the room.

Will definitely stay here again if given the opportunity!

Room Tip: My room was on the 10th floor so it was quiet.

A friend booked this hotel for us last minute so we didn't know what we were turning up to but the Grand Hyatt staff could not be more friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Travelling with children can be tricky at times and when you get the impression that the kids are an inconvenience to staff your trip can be ruined... that was definitely not the case here. On arrival they presented a trolly full of toys that the kids could each choose two from. We were given a map of the local area and metro and they bent over backwards to ensure we had everything we could possibly want. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Our youngest toddler got ill when we were there and made a (runny poo) mess of the cot... they brought clean sheets, helped sort out the mess and called up to check if we needed anything else at all. All the staff have been so sweet with the children and helpful at every point. There is a good selection of restaurants and room service and the location is perfect for exploring Washington DC. The only criticism I could give is that the breakfast is really expensive... it is also the best breakfast buffet I've ever seen but it would be nice to have a price scale or something so you could just have some toast and cereal without paying so much. The kids eat free too.

Really though, it's the staff that make the Grand Hyatt... they really are lovely.

(NB. we didn't try the spa so I don't know what it's like or if kids are allowed.)

The grand Hyatt was an excellent stay, and had many, many positives.

You certainly can't beat the location .....with a Metro stop literally attached to the hotel lobby, and in the heart of downtown, there is very easy access to dining, entertainment, and attraction venues.

The hotel itself looks inviting, with a large open lobby/atrium area. The check in process was very easy, and the staff very friendly and helpful.

Based on other reviews, I asked for a room with an inside view to minimize the "outside" noise. The view of the atrium turned out to be very pleasing, and the glass atrium ceiling still provided some outside views.

The rooms themselves looked to be recently updated. The chairs were comfortable, and the lighting solutions at the beds superb and well thought out (the lights inside the head boards are near ingenious!). The "power points" in the room were also excellent, and very adequate for all of the modern "travel warrior" needs.

My biggest complaint was that the beds were relatively uncomfortable. They looked comfortable, the pillows were excellent, but the mattress ended up being too hard for my liking, and not leading to a good couple of nights sleep.

Overall, a great place superbly located, and good for business stays. I would only have hoped the beds were more comfortable for better nights' sleep.

I recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt for a conference and visits to the Hill. I had a great room and the meeting space was very adequate. Ate lunch in the cube restaurant. The food was great and ingenious way to do small plates ordering 3 or 5. The best part is being over metrocenter which is so convenient for getting to the Hill.

HOT is a good thing at Grand Hyatt. It was excellent. On a wintry day in DC, this Texan welcomed the special and timely attention to detail. The front desk was calm, friendly and efficient. The room was great. Even a double-standard was filled with amenities that make the business traveler prepared for a full day that depends on tech essentials. The only drawback was the very long walk from the elevator to the room. It felt like a mile and for a punctual person, it meant leaving the room a bit early to be sure the long walk didn't include a long wait at the elevator. And, watch your step at the Grand Hyatt. The meandering corridors on the lobby level, plus a water feature a floor below make for some dizzying experiences. I don't know HOW the piano player gets to his perch without soaking his tuxedo. And, for persons afraid of heights, every step across the bridges is a test of courage. Overall, don't miss the Grand Hyatt for service and excellence.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the elevator.

We chose the Grand Hyatt based on other reviews, and we were not disappointed. The location is absolutely fantastic, with public transport adjacent (literally off the lobby area) to the hotel, tour bus pick up just around the corner, and a few short blocks to China Town and other attractions. We upgraded to the club floor for an additional fee, and it was well worth it. Breakfast in the morning has a vast selection of items, and the evening happy hour has reduced price adult beverages, and high quality appetizers. Benjamin was particularly helpful as the host, cheerfully offering help with reservations, and suggestions for nearly any activity in the D.C. area.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and the linens were of high quality. The gym and pool area were rather grey and without windows, but the equipment was acceptable. The restaurant/lobby bar provided refreshing beverages late night, and the front desk staff was very pleasant and professional. We would definitely choose this hotel again.

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces outside, unless you do not mind people seeing you from atrium facing rooms.
