We really enjoyed this hotel. The bell hops went above and beyond by asking if we needed anything, and by greeting us with a smile whenever they saw us. We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was clean and comfortable. We faced the atrium, which was a beautiful large open area in the center of the hotel with shallow pools, dining areas, a grand piano, and the service desks. We easily obtained free Wi-Fi in our room from logging into the lobby Wi-Fi. Why pay the fee they charge? There was a bit of noise from the hotel restaurant at night, but we were able to get a good nights rest on the comfortable beds. The location can not be beat. We were able to walk to the White House and the other monuments. The Metro was also right there. We were very happy with our stay.

Room Tip: Get room facing the Atrium. We stayed on the 4th floor and were happy with it.

The hotel was clean and beautiful. The meeting rooms were unimpressive. Lack of free internet and microwaves in the rooms was very inconvenient. The staff was friendly. I would have preferred more amenities.

It's our second stay at the hotel. Would return anytime!
The lobby is impressive, rooms are nice, modern. Can get a bit noisy with the room facing the inside of the hotel. Bed is really comfy. The breakfast place downstairs is awesome but a bit pricey. Good location - 5min walk to the White House.
Our 1st stay was for NYEve two years ago.
Still the same great service and staff!
CONS - valet parking $45 and self around $35. You can find other parking lots around the hotel with a cheaper rate.

The hotel itself was very nice and clean. I have no complaints about the condition of our room at all. The staff was very helpful in tips on getting around and it was very nice to have a Starbucks right in the hotel. We didnt eat at the hotel because the prices seemed a bit high. Plus we had children with us who didnt like the menu. We did however eat at a cafe that was 2 blocks from the hotel that was fantastic! They even had vegan and vegetarian options. I would recommend eating at the local restaurants since there are a ton close by. I didnt like that we had to park in the parking garage which costs us over $60 for the weekend. If Im staying at the hotel I think my parking should be included right? That was the only major downside of our stay there. The hotel has an entrance to the Metro in it but we needed an elevator entrance which was was located only a block from the Metro station.All the museums were located 2 trains stops from it. So it was only a five minute ride on the Metro. For people with strollers or handicapped persons: since my son was in a wheelchair and the elevators only go down to one side of the platforms, the metro was a pain. If we got onto the wrong elevator we had to go back up and walk around a fairly large block in July to get to the proper platform. There is only one elevator per side as well and we were competing with strollers and bike riders to get onto the elevator. Please keep this in mind when visiting the museums and plan ahead of where you need to go to get on the right platform. If you are visiting the DC area in the summer, it can be very hot. Most likely you would be exhausted from all the walking and sightseeing, plan breaks in your day or spend some time at the hotel's pool. It will really help you get though your stay without everyone becoming to exhausted to see everything.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the street. We were told they do not have handicapped bathrooms but I am n...

While the hotel & rooms are not as luxurious as other Grand Hyatts it had a great ambience, beds were very comfy, room good size and quiet. Cure Restaurant lived up to its hype as the best lunch spot in Washington. We ended up eating all meals except one night at this restaurant or the more casual bar as we enjoyed the quality, service and price so much. Only downside was no free Wi-Fi in the rooms. Check in was seamless even though hotel was very busy. Location closer to the White House, monuments, shopping and other attractions preferred to the Capitol Hill end of the City. Highly recommended hotel.

The overall stay was very nice. I would like internet to be included in the room rate. High driveway-hard for low wheelchair vans to access. The price of the room was costly-but the service was GREAT. Easy to walk to places to eat and shop. Parking deck too steep-put ALL parking on your hotel bill-not just valet parking.

We started out on Friday, 18Aug2014, from Baltimore, MD. We arrived in Washington, D.C. in the evening after visiting Dover (DE), Annapolis (MD), and National Harbor (MD). Spent over 5 hours visiting Lincoln Memorial and other well-known sights before checking into Grand Hyatt Washington ~ 3 AM EDT. The female Front Desk person was kind enough to offer us a late checkout of 2 PM, especially since we would be driving over 9 hours back to the Wolverine State.

The lobby is definitely "grand," spacious, and luxurious. We were upgraded to a room facing the atrium, which reduced possible noise from the outside. However, we were awakened when noisy children walked past our room in the hallway.

Room 467 positives included:
* Energy efficient lighting
* Plentiful outlets to charge our electronic devices
* Thermostat to set a numerical temperature with auto shut-off of fan
* Large, flat-screen TV

We were puzzled why Room 467 bathroom did NOT have an exhaust fan to remove water vapor during showering.

Although we had no time to take advantage of the location, hotel positive is that Washington Metro Red Line station is connected to hotel.

Hotel negatives, which prevented an excellent rating, are:
* Charging ~ $10/day for room Wi-Fi internet access
* Outrageous rates to print pages from Business Center computer
* Parking costs up to $45/day for valet and $34/day for self-parking in adjacent underground garage (which is operated by independent business - cannot charge to your room)

Nevertheless, we were able to refresh our bodies by sleeping over seven (7) hours.

Including 14.5% occupancy sales tax, we paid $153.34 for one night, which is very reasonable for this hotel's "grand" location during summer travel season in Washington, D.C.

Kudos to the very friendly service from Grand Hyatt Washington staff!

Room Tip: Rooms facing Grand Hyatt Washington atrium should be less noisy than rooms facing busy streets.
