Great location. Take Blue Metro from Reagan Airport, look for the Macy's sign to know what exit. Within two blocks of the White House, Within two block of Ford Museum - where Lincoln was shot (free - just need to get tickets at the window). which is a block from the Spy Museum. What is nice is being right next to the Metro you can get to any attraction - Zoo, National Mall, Capital, etc... quickly. Plus our two favorite restaurants Capital City Brewery a half a block up and Matchstick pizza 4 blocks towards Chinatown. For breakfast, two block up and one block left to get to McDonald's. Also remember to bring swimsuit. Nice pool and workout area. Nice beds and staff.

Room Tip: We normally stay on 11th floor.

My wife, daughter, and I recently stay here for two nights while visiting the white house, capitol, and museums as tourists. What an absolutely perfect location. It's a three-block walk to the white house down energized streets that have much to offer in terms of shopping, fine dining, or budget dining. It's literally on top of the metro stop, and not just any metro stop but a transfer station where every train line but one services. You can get anywhere easily. It's a few blocks to Chinatown, the museums, or fine dining. Despite being a hub of activity, it's quiet in the rooms. I appreciated the spaciousness and the amenities (wifi and fridge in particular). The only thing I didn't like was the $6 bottles of water, but that can be avoided by going to the CVS two blocks away (H at 14th) or the Starbucks in the lobby.

The place was very clean and fast paced. I absolutely appreciated the chili lobby every time we returned from a walk through the humidity. The elevators were fast, as we were on the 11th floor and never spent more than one minute waiting and riding the elevator up or down. The staff seemed nice, although we didn't interact much. The only complaint, and this is not the hotel's fault, is that the courtyard of the building next door really smells bad, and you need to hold your breath when you walk by. But somehow once you are in the building, that smell is completely gone.

Room Tip: I'm not sure this place has a bad room.

Stayed 3 nights in early June. Previous stay was is in Aug 09. The redo of the rooms is outstanding. Everything looked brand new! I also liked the key entry, like a subway/transit pass, tap on the door.

Fires and Sage was very good. We had the breakfast package in our room rate, up to $22 for breakfast. Also ate dinner (scallops and a flatbread pizza) that we still talk about!

Like everyone says: Great location, easy Metro, easy walk for sites.

If you are looking for a hotel which is accessible to lots of attractions in DC, this is the hotel for you. The Washington Marriott at Metro Center is just a 5 minute walk to Chinatown, 10 minutes to the Natural History, American History and Art Museums, 15 minutes to Ford Theatre and if you're brave enough, a 25-30 minute walk to the White House.

Bed are cozy though double beds are a little small. The toiletries are fantastic (Thann toiletries) and when you ask for anything (room service, extra toiletries), the front desk is really good about calling you to check to see if you've received what you're asking for.

The hotel is a little expensive ($210 a night) and parking is at $42 plus tax per night so be prepared to spend a bit more if you want the location.

From the minute we arrived on the 4th of July until we left on the 5th, I felt cared for and tended to. The staff went above and beyond in spite of being busy. We came just to be close to the mall and see fireworks. There is inexpensive 24 hr parking across the street the bell man told us about. The lobby restaurant breakfast was reasonably priced and delicious. The indoor pool is saltwater so no stinky chlorine. Towels and linens were brought to our room right away. Front desk was courteous and helpful. Location to mall was an easy walk but the metro station was convenient. For $8 we got a cab for a tour spot at the Capitol. Great trip. ID stay here again for sure.

I have stayed here many times and can truthfully say that I have never been disappointed. The central location alone makes it a great choice, sitting right next to the Metro Center stop. This makes it even more attractive to solo travelers since you never want to walk far from the metro to the hotel, especially late at night. But this is also a very clean and well managed Marriott. The beds, the linens, and the bath towels always meet my high expectations and the rooms are maintained well. The front desk staff has always been courteous and responsive to my needs. And the bellmen have always been more than helpful making sure I have a place to keep my luggage whether before check-in or after check-out. TWO thumbs up!

We (my Mom and I) stayed at the Marriott Metro Center for four nights (Fri-Tues) in July. Originally I was planning on staying at Dupont Circle, but was very glad that we chose Penn Quarter and, specifically, the Marriott as the location ended up being perfect for our needs. The hotel itself is pretty standard for a Marriott -- good, not amazing. Overall, great value considering that similar hotels in Penn Quarter were going for much more that weekend (US $175/night + taxes, except for Mon night which was $207 + taxes; free high-speed wi-fi included with our package.)

LOCATION:
Not only is the hotel literally on top of Metro Center station, it was the best station for us because it services the three most convenient lines for sightseeing and getting to Dulles airport (red, blue and orange). No pesky changing of lines required, ever, and it was so easy to take the Washington Flyer shuttle bus from Dulles airport to West Falls Church station on the orange line, shoot across to Metro Center and walk straight up into the hotel, no cab required.

The location was also perfect for us from a walking perspective. We wanted to stay in the heart of the tourist action, close to the main sights, restaurants and shopping. It was an easy 10-15 walk South to the Mall, West to the White House, or East to the great restaurants close to the Verizon Centre/Chinatown. Within a 10 min walk is the Ford Theatre and National Portrait Gallery, as are a multitude of shops (Macy's is across the street, close by are TJ Maxx, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Barnes and Noble, Anthropologie, LOFT, J Crew, Marshalls, etc.).

ROOM:
We stayed in Rm 831, a double queen with a view of 12th St (some street noise, but nothing unbearable). The ice machine near the elevator is noisy as people have mentioned, but luckily we were about five doors down and had no issues.

- Comfy beds, though the pillows a bit too soft for my liking
- Closet had ample hangers though only one luggage valet; also equipped with iron
- Room was about average size and had a desk and chair and reading armchair
- Good flat screen TV and decent wi-fi (included in our room price, otherwise it is about $15 a day though free in the lobby)
- Single serve coffee machine (not pod-style, loose grounds) and some tea bags
- Lots of counter space in bathroom, though no drawers; make-up mirror; good towels and hair dryer (not wall-mounted); basic amenities (shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, only one bar of soap, had to call down for shower cap)
- No automatic turndown service (though can be requested)
- Strangely, the room was missing its safe which was supposed to be in one of the drawers! I mentioned this to the hotel and they were rather surprised to hear about it
- AC is decent, though because the single vent is off to one side of the room it was a bit chillier sleeping in front of it; no issues with it turning off as others mentioned -- you simply turn off the "eco" feature so it stays on even if you are not in the room or during the night

SERVICE/AMENTIES:
We were able to check-in early and the staff, overall, were quite friendly and helpful. The concierge was very kind helping me with some printing problems I was having. Upon checking-in I called down to request a fridge which was delivered within 20 mins. (My key piece of advice about this Marriott -- if you need something, call their At Your Service line and you will get it; don't assume things aren't available, they just don't provide them until you ask!).

In the lobby there are two free computers for checking email, printing items, boarding passes, etc. There is also a Starbucks, convenient for the mornings, though they seemed to close rather early every day.

The gym was quite large, with lots of decent equipment, towels, a bowl of apples and disposable headphones. The pool was attached -- pretty small, in a windowless room though lit by a huge skylight. Seemed humid though quite popular with families.

Would I recommend this hotel? Yes, if only for the location, especially if you don't have a car! Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Room Tip: Ask to stay away from the loud ice machines! Call the At Your Service line whenever you need anythin...
