I'm sorry you experienced what you did during your stay. We are indeed finishing up a major renovation and have many different sub-contractors doing many different things as part of the renovation. Some of the sub-contractors are more thorough than others. Again, I apologize about the drapes and that no one answered the phone in reference to them. I will look into the matter.
Stayed two nights recently - only planned on staying one, but a snowstorm postponed plans I had in the area. The front desk staff was extremely helpful in accommodating my last minute change. Starbucks was handy for meeting up with people in town, breakfast was fine. I didn't eat any other meals at the hotel, but it was a short walk to Hill Country BBQ (delicious) and to the Air and Space Museum, which was one of only two museums open on my "snow day." My room was gigantic and comfortable.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to Trip Advisor about your stay with us. I'm sorry your flight was cancelled, but it does sound like you had the opportunity to enjoy DC a little. I appreciate your comments about our hotel and the staff. Please come visit us again.
My friend and I stayed here for two nights for our first time visiting dc. The rooms were clean and modern, the front desk staff was really nice and helpful. The major downside to this hotel is that it is located litterally nowhere near any restaurants aside from the Starbucks located right outside. If you are planning on walking to dinner, then plan on at least a 20-30 minute walk to any decent restaurant or take a metro ride. We decided to try and eat at the restaurants in the hotel for convinence one night and it was by far the worst service I have ever recieved at any hotel/restaurant. The Capitol bistro food was practically inedibile and was about 13-19$ a plate. It tasted like bad cafeteria food and the waitstaff was very rude. My friend ordered lava cake and it tasted like soap. When she sent it back the "waitor" argued with her then grabbed her fork and inspected the cake himself. Then when another waitor finally brought a new dessert, the bread pudding, she stood there and had my friend take several bites of it to make sure she liked it. Once the waitor walked away we discovered green specks in the dessert and at that point just payed and left. Decent hotel, but HORRIBLE RESTAURANTS.
I appreciate all comments about our hotel. Thank you for your very favorable comments on the guest rooms and staff. I am surprised by your restaurant comments and am forwarding them on to our Food & Beverage Director. I am also e-mailing you separately because I would like to find out more about what you experienced, about both your service and your meal.
Nice, clean, newly renovated room. Front desk staff courteous and efficient. Excellent food served at conference I attended. Self-parking very convenient and elevator from garage connected to hotel. Wish it was less expensive but it is in a great location.
I really appreciate your comments about the hotel and staff and your rating. I do hope you will visit us again.
My boyfriend and I spent one night here last week while we were visiting DC. We chose this hotel because of how close it is to the air and space museum. We arrived before our room was ready, and they held our bags for us so we could go explore DC right away. Our room was clean and our bed was comfy. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our stay.
We appreciate you and your boyfriend staying with us. It sounds as if you had a nice time in DC. I hope you will return and stay with us again. Thank you for your great review.
I stayed here for one night at the end of November last year when a cold snap went through, the reflection pool by Lincoln Memorial froze over.
Check in was really quick and efficient. As we arrived early in the morning our room wasn't ready, but was easily able to store our bags at the hotel until we came back in the afternoon. Also had no problems leaving our bags the next day when we checked out.
Our room was large and easily fit the four of us in without it being cramped. The room, and hotel for that matter, was heated nicely which was great due to the cold outside. It was clean and quiet, had a room overlooking the courtyard out the back of the hotel.
Due to the cold we came back to the hotel once the sun went down and decided not to venture back out so ate at one of the restaurants there. The food was really nice (we had a really fussy eater with us and he left quite happy. The only down side was the service due to a poor waiter.
It is in a great location for the Mall and museums. The only disappointment was, after reading their website and seeing that you can go to the roof and get a great view of the Mall, particularly at night with it all lit up, we were looking forward to it but were unaware that it is shut during the colder months. It is only small but none the less we were a little disappointed.
The water pressure was not great it could have been a fair bit stronger, but we were all able to take a warm shower.
Other than the 3 small negatives it was a great stay and would stay here again if I were to ever go back to DC.
I appreciate your detailed review of our hotel. It sounds as if you and your family enjoyed your stay with us. I hope you will visit us again when the pool and roof top are open.
