“Good location but busy hotel”
Reviewed 1 April 2014 via mobile

Stayed here for a conference and was well-located from the convention center with no more than 1 mile walk. But it rained so much that I learned how much taxis hate the drop off/pick up location. So congested and the staff parks cars seemingly intentionally to not make the flow good there. Now but busy hotel with little sense of personal service. Nonetheless any staff I encountered were kind people without any attitude so the culture there is obviously to treat anyone with respect, which was really the nice part of the hotel. I just wished they would change sheets. We were here for 4 nights and even though we may have eaten on our bed and spilled a little (I know, our fault for eating on the bed!) I would have appreciated them actually looking and seeing that the sheets should have been changed. They don't keep a little thing to request sheets be changed so you rely on them to notice. One day they made the bed with our pajamas under the sheets so they really don't pay attention to details in the cleaning the way I have come to expect from most Marriott hotels so that is why I rated it lower. But ultimately in DC you need to be where you need to be but I might chose another hotel if we have our meeting here again.

We stayed at the JW Marriott for business and pleasure last week and it was delightful! We have stayed before but this time, the convenient location was very helpful due to a leg injury I had with limited mobility. The room and bed was very comfortable and quiet (we prefer the rooms that face away from the street - not a bad view down to pool/outdoor area).

Restaurant for breakfast was fine and only problem we consistantly had was the concierge service not following through with restaurant reservations, not familiar with Old Town Trolley or other tour companies which makes your D.C. visit much better when you have a limit amount of time.

We would definately stay here again on our next trip to D.C.!

Room Tip: If street noise bothers you, get a room that faces the interior courtyard - there are many of them!

Green Features: Did not change sheets and reused towels, rooms are well insulated so did not have to use heater or A/C during our stay.

Other less expensive options were sold out, so we got a room here paying almost $600/night. The hotel fulfilled our request for a high floor and we had a nice view of Pennsylvania Avenue. As they did not have any king beds left on a high floor, we got 2 double beds which made the room feel somewhat small. Very comfortable beds and linens and a pleasant looking room. The bathroom is rather cramped but it has all the amenities. I didn't like the stocked refrigerator or the tempting snack items displayed out on the desk to tempt people, though. The staff was very good and extremely friendly. As it was our anniversary, the hotel sent us complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, in addition to a card signed by 6 people. That was a very nice touch. The location is superb. We didn't eat there as there are plenty of fabulous restaurants within walking distance. There is an in-room coffee maker and a Starbucks in the lobby. For those who can afford it, I would recommend it for its fabulous location and comfortable rooms.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor looking out onto Pennsylvania Avenue.

Green Features: The hotel had one folded plastic bag that you could use for your daily recycling. I've always liked having a designated recycling trash can in the room, but the bag probably prevents people from putting non-recyclables in it.

i was there on business
pretty consistent with the hotel nameplate.
great location.
quiet enough and clean.
buy pricey, reducing the value.
and, for the cost, the internet should be faultless, not intermittent....

Green Features: usual "green" maneuvers and interesting elevators. passengers are assigned to a particular car. quick and efficient.

Thank you for your feedback on your stay here at the JW Marriott Washington DC.

We understand that paying for amenities can add up on a trip and we try to provide options for our guests. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in our hotel lobby and in Starbucks for all of our guests.

I've also alerted our internet technician to check our bandwidth to ensure all of our guests are getting adequate connectivity.

The pluses: this hotel has a fabulous location on Pennsylvania Avenue, two blocks from the White House. Some rooms look out on an open plaza (but some rooms are on an interior courtyard--be careful).

While the location may be "luxurious," the rooms and bath are generic convention hotel. The bathroom is in fact cramped, if that matters to you. The room I had had a window facing the park -- but the window was on a jog in the building. You had to walk to the corner of the room to see the full view.

So, this is a perfectly clean centrally located hotel. I would not recommend it for a romantic visit to DC.

I stayed for two nights on the 11th floor in a double room. While the location was good, I can't say I would necessarily return. My room was expensive, a bit tired and my room service breakfast was lacking. This is fine for business travel (as was my stay), but if I were visiting DC for leisure I'd look elsewhere.

This hotel is very centric to everything, The rooms are very nice and you can tell the quality of service that they offer is top notch. Would recommend it to anyone. I had a government rate so I cant tell how much a regular room cost.. but if your willing to spend a little extra $ go for it.
