I travel to DC on a regular basis but typically stay closer to DuPont Circle. It was a nice change of pace to stay at the JW for a business meeting at the nearby Reagan building. The hotel is close to many different museums and tourist spots. I don't often get the chance to walk around and enjoy the city but on this trip I was able to visit several museums and monuments. The hotel staff was very friendly and were quick to change my rooms when the air conditioner in my first room made a strange sound.

Room Tip: Try to get a city view room on a high floor.

I was travelling with my wife and 2 kids and we chose this hotel due mainly to the location.

First the pros: very massive multi-level lobby w/bar-restaurant, staff (valets, bell hops, front desk, etc.) was great, location is 2 blocks to white house and Metro (which you can take to Capital or Smithsonians), w/in 1-2 blocks of many indoor/outdoor restaurants, very clean, liquor store right next door, great big indoor pool and large workout room, and about 15 minute walk to Washington Monument.

The cons: I have to say for a family of 4 the room was challenging due to its small size. The bathroom was the size of a broom closet. The door practically hits the toilet when you open it into the bathroom. You can't in and out of tub without closing the door or use the toilet and good luck trying to get more than one person in the bathroom. The overall room size was small too as the space between the end of the bed and the dresser was probably about 2 feet making it hard to walk around with a family. I stayed at a JW Marriott in New Orleans and experienced the same issue, it was like a cookie cutter room. Next the refrigerator in the room-it is stacked full of beer, pop, etc. for purchase with no spare room for your own drinks and you can move the drinks out because if you move them they charge you some ridiculous price for them. So these rooms have no fridge that you can use. Also they put candy and drinks on top of the dresser and again you can't move them because they will charge you (they have some contraption that detects if you move any candy or drinks and then automatically charge you). So you have a small room to begin with and then they take up the fridge making it useless and then take an entire section of the top of the dresser. Valet parking $50/day seems high to me. No breakfast included unless you pay $25/day. My final comment is think twice before staying here but the location is very good.

Room Tip: If you book on the Marriott website make you check other websites to see if the price is lower becau...

We took a family vacation to DC this month. We loved this hotel's location. Close to lots of great restaurants, casual and nicer, easy access to Metro, walking distance to the White House, the Mall, monuments, and Smithsonian museums. Highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed here overnight for a little getaway. The location is superb. We had a room on the 10th floor and had a great view of the Washington Monument. The bar was a little pricey but the drinks were yummy. Close to all the attractions-we especially recommend checking out the International Spy Museum-a short walk from the hotel.

The JW Marriott in Washington DC was terrific! It was in a perfect location. Two blocks from a metro station, two blocks from the White House. The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The hotel staff was incredible! They could not have been more helpful. Having the Metro stop two blocks away was perfect. Just hop on the metro to get to the Pentagon, Arlington Cemetery, the Eastern Flea Market! Everything else was within walking distance. The only negative would be that it is $50 a night to park at the hotel. So, we decided to park at the National Airport in Long-Term parking... $14 a night! Then hopped on the Metro at the airport and took that to our hotel. And, we didn't have to drive into Downtown DC. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and will definitely stay there again.

I had a meeting in DC and was supposed to stay at another Marriott but book this one because of its location. We paid extra to have the view of Pennsylvania Avenue but it was really worth it. It was so nice to wake up to sunrise over the Washington Monument. Lots of lovely cafes to stop by and an easy walk around the White House. We walked to the Newseum one afternoon viewing all on Pennsylvania Avenue up to the Capitol. I'd definitely stay again.

The lobby, bar, and service was excellent. Our room although clean, was overlooking a courtyard with an office building on one side. We visited in May and made the reservation in October so we thought we would at least have some kind of a view. The bathroom was TINY. And if you move anything from the fridge (which we did to store drinks, etc.) you will be charged at the desk. I believe that is unreasonable. They did adjust the bill but it was still unfair to advertise a fridge but not be able to access it. Otherwise, I couldn't think of a better place to stay
