“Beautiful, convenient and well located hotel for Conference and Sight seeing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

Easily located, within walking distance of the Mall with the Washington Monument, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln memorial, WWII memorial and many others. The entrance is beautiful with large crystal chandeliers. The staff is phenomenal, welcoming and ever so helpful. This is the best staff I've ever noticed in a hotel, even remembering my room number and name at the front desk. The room we were in had a magnificent view of the Washington Monument, the snacks in the room were well stocked, the room was large and comfortable. The dinners at the hotel during the conference were delicious, well served and well labeled as far as nutritional values.

Not too much to say about this well located, large convention hotel.
Standard Marriott in almost every way.
However, a word of caution:
Someone (most likely in "revenue enhancement") has placed the always annoying trip wired selection of overpriced snacks immediately by the desk phone on a small surface adjacent to the desk. (Others are crowded in a mini fridge with almost no free space...very unfriendly)
It is almost impossible to ignore the unattractive display of junk which looks like a mini set of (expensive) bowling pins, and it is quite difficult to avoid unintentionally knocking over one or more of the items.
Please, somebody who actually must live (temporarily) in a hotel room, inform the management that this is both unwelcome and incredibly annoying.

Room Tip: Some rooms face Pennsylvania Ave with a partial view of the Washington Monument. There are some int...

Green Features: They say that they are "green". A plastic recycling bag is provided in the rooms. A nice touch.

Spent two nights while in DC, June 19 & 20. Highly recommend the hotel because of the location. For best prices, book far ahead. At check-in, we asked for a higher floor, facing the Washington Monument, and they were able to accommodate us with a very nice, clean room with a terrific view and everything we needed. Hotel is walking distance to most downtown sights, monuments and museums along the Mall. Really appreciated hotel having cold, fruit-infused water in the lobby each afternoon. JW Marriott is across the street from the historic Willard Hotel and only 1-2 blocks from the White House, so we felt very safe in the neighborhood - even after dark. Wasn't much happening at the JW Marriott bar, but we found a great happy hour menu around the corner at Chef Geoff's from 3-7 p.m. (Get there early for seats!) We also enjoyed the Corner Bakery for breakfast on the same block. Old Ebbitt Bar & Grill is only a block away, and is a lively place for dinner - advance reservations recommended. A Metro station was in the next block, which took only minutes to get us to Arlington Cemetery. So much to see and do in DC - wish we could have stayed longer!

Room Tip: Higher floors facing toward Washington Monument have best views.

Spent 1 night here while in DC on business. Got a room last minute with Marriott Rewards points. Only 40,000 points when the rate was over $400 per night!!! I got a room on the concierge level with an awesome view of the city. I wish I had the time to enjoy, but didnt get to the room until almost 7.
Overall comfortable room, friendly staff, well equipped business center (although the computer on the concierge level didn't work) and GREAT location (steps away from the Reagan Building where my meetings were held)
Hope to come back again.

Spent two nights during July 4th weekend. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Clean, safe, pleasant stay. Convenient to restaurants, the mall, Smithsonian and other sights. Trolley stops near here. Metro isn't far away. Corner Bakery in the same block--great place for breakfast.

Room Tip: Our room didn't have a great view but we were rarely there and they did offer a view at a higher...

This location is great for sight seeing, the rooms were clean (small bathroom for a JW) and the pool was decent for the kids. We didn't have much interact with the staff, but when we did, we found them all to be friendly. The cost per night + tax is overpriced in my opinion and you can definitely find a more reasonable rate. We had concierge access and figured we saved about $100 per day with the breakfast, snacks and water that is provided. We did have dinner in the regular restaurant and thought it was fine and priced reasonably. If we were to go back to the area I would look into staying at the Courtyard that is downtown vs. the JW. You really are busy and not spending much time in the room and the Courtyard isn't that far away. This JW is perfect for using points rather than paying the regular nightly cost.

Staying for a family wedding, I was very impressed with the extra effort taken at the desk to get everyone into the best rooms. A mix of family wanting to be close together, some with special accessibility needs, different bed type needs, and it all came together as the staff checked all the options. Service throughout the stay, from housekeeping, the concierge, and the bar staff was exceptional.

The rooms are well-sized, a bit rare in DC, and scrupulously clean. The one drawback is the refrigerator, packed with bar items on sensors so you can’t remove them without being charged. It seems the target market is business travelers and events participants, not families on sight-seeing visits. The restaurant is pricey, and parking is over $40 per night, so it can be quite a strain for the budget-minded. Wi-fi adds another $13/day. It is an excellent location, however, two blocks from the National Mall, and it has a pick up hop-on, hop-off bus. Only a 10 minute drive to Reagan National Airport.

A great place if you can spare a few dollars, not recommended for the weekend family trip due to price.
