Omni Shoreham Hotel

We stopped off in Washington DC on the way back from visiting family. I had booked the Omni Shoreham based on the online reviews and on the great rate we were offered. We were not disappointed. We signed up for the Omni rewards programme which was great value. We checked in before standard time but were given a room on the 7th floor with views of the park and the Washington Monument in the distance. The room was huge, with two large double beds, a walk in closet, dressing area and a small but neat bathroom. The room was bright, very clean and had a wall mounted air con unit which, with unseasonably high temperatures, was very welcome. The staff we came across were all helpful and friendly. The reward programme offered us free beverages every morning, free pressing of two items, free newspaper and free internet. The hotel is grand but not stuffy. We were in shorts every day because of the heat and no one batted an eyelid! We did not eat in the hotel at all, as there are some great, reasonably priced restaurants and bars nearby. We had a leak in the wash basin, which was fixed within 20 mins of reporting! The hotel has excellent transport links with Woodley Park metro just five minutes walk away, and many buses including the circulator stopping almost outside. The beds were really comfortable, and the large screen TV and many channels was welcome after a long day sightseeing. The rooms are equipped with coffee machines, hairdryer, iron & board, small bar fridge. We would highly recommend this hotel and are looking forward to visiting again in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor on the side to get good views.

Gorgeous old building with modern amenities. Service oriented (lots of people to tend to details). Was a great prices, and top of the line products. Stayed here after another big name conference hotel filled. Wished I'd have stayed the whole trip here. Family came to see DC, and they brought milk and cookies to the kids. A class act from the moment we stepped in the door.

This was great hotel to stay at. Rooms and pool was very clean. Bed was unbelievable!!!! Staff were very friendly. Henry, the hotel concierge was amazing; he provided us with accurate information. Hotel is close to a CVS so you can buy cereal and milk for kiddos. Frig was available for use.

Beautiful historic hotel in Washington DC located by the National Zoo and Metro Station as well as walking distance to great restaurants and shopping.

The rooms are huge and include a number of amenities. The little touches included crystal doorknobs, water bottles and a beautiful view. One of the areas I most appreciated was as an Omni member coffee was delivered to my room early in the morning.

The history at this hotel is amazing and includes being the place many congressional dinners are held, presidential inauguration parties, Frank Sinatra performed here, the Beatles booked a wing of this hotel...you get the picture.

The artwork is beautiful that is hung throughout the hotel.

My only caution is the hotel is huge and would be tough to navigate for an individual with a handicap.

Stayed here for 6 nights in May 2014.
This hotel is located on the edge of Rock Creek park just steps from the Woodley Park Metro access. Washington Zoo is within walking distance.

The rooms are large and well furnished. Large ensuite and walkin wardrobe. Beds are great. All the staff are welcoming and the vibes in this very large hotel are warm and not at all stuffy.

The public area is huge and furnished in country house style. In these areas wifi is free but expensive in room. Some of the public area furnishings could benefit from an uplift. The restaurant we used for Breakfast and the buffet breakfast is excellent. About $20.

The hotel has close proximity to the Metro. We have been to Washington DC 9 times and this is our 3rd stay at this hotel. No hesitation in advising people to stay here.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. Hotel is nice and rooms are good. Food is average. Overall I had good experience except for the valet parking. During checkout, when they got my car, there were 2 big scratch marks on lower right back door. I was pretty upset as it is my new Mercedes car. The person who identified himself as a supervisor of valet parking was of very little help and just wrote up a claim form saying that someone will contact you in 2-3 days. We left. Today its been 5 days. No one has contacted me. I had called two times and person on the other end said that someone will contact you soon. Valet parking itself was so expensive and on top you get your car damaged. I did not expect this. I would have expected someone to resolve this issue right then and there. Since I was from out of town and had to leave, I had no other choice but to take a copy of claim report and hope that someone will call me. But I am still wait to receive that call.

I love this hotel! It is quite nice, with its beautiful chandeliers, finishes in the room, the views are (mostly) breathtaking. And its Historical guest list was a surprise and fascinating. The beds were comfortable, the towels large enough, room service yum! Staff were all friendly, helpful, happy. Definitely do not miss the gardens in the rear of the hotel, even though we had a late winter, there were a few flowers blooming and the grounds are well maintained and comfortable, quiet.

Room Tip: The first room we were put in was in the "addition". It was a ridiculously long walk and t...
