We stayed here for 5 nights and were thoroughly pleased with everything. We had a king room, which was plenty roomy, with a desk and chair and a upholstered chair and ottoman. Be sure to join for free, the Omni Select Guest Program. You get free wi-fi, otherwise it is $10. per day, you also get your choice of a beverage delivered to your door every morning. The grounds here are beautiful, with a nature viewing area in back. The only negative was our TV, which was a nice flat screen HD model, it just didn't always work. Sometimes it was acquiring a signal, sometimes it just went in circles with their promos. We had to call the desk for someone to come up and work on it once, not sure what they did, since we didn't wait for them to arrive. Be sure to take earplugs, the doors close very loudly, even when you are careful. This hotel is very convenient to the Woodley Park Metro station.

Room was clean and big, staff was absolutely wonderful. very friendly, helpful so nice. However $28 a night for valet parking and you really had no other option, you couldn't self park even though the information they had in the room said it was available and unless you wanted to try parking on the street you had no choice. The food was delicious but expensive- $7.00 for cereal. We spent $50 every time we ate at the hotel but the food I had was delicious. The fitness center wasn't free for hotel guests. No indoor pool. The television didn't have ABC nor any televsion guide to tell you what was on. The support staff were well worth the visit. Our room was big, bed was comfortable, we could hear people in the hall but it is a hotel, food was served hot and with a smile by room service, restaurant staff was very nice, food was great, room was cleaned at our convenience, door man, bus boy, etc were very friendly. We were concerned about safety as we were able to enter the hotel by a back door and once you were off the main floor you didn't always see other people on the other hand, we didn't see have any problems.

Wow. Best hotel room I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. If you want a luxurious affordable stay -- consider the Omni Shoreham!! A member of the National Historic Hotels, they were running a great Spring special, stay two days and get the third free -- and the rate was very, very good. Allowed me to "splurge" on room service and later car service back to BWI airport.

Single mom getaway weekend -- little rest, few museums, peace and quiet. Simple agenda but the Omni Shoreham took it to a new level for me. Just a block and a half from the Woodley/Zoo Metro stop, nice neighborhood with convenient shops and services. Quick check in. Concierge put me in room 716 (corner w/views of park and Washington Monument) after a card key reader issue. Enormous space, delightful decor, five windows (that actually can be opened to enjoy spring breezes). Deep cast iron tub that had so much hot water I almost fell asleep in it. Flat screen TV and a great desk / workspace. Wireless internet worked like a charm and the bedding....I could go on forever about the comfort and softness of the bedding.

I broke my arm on a Segway tour of the Capitol -- and the staff at the Omni were fantastic. From room service, to the Concierge and bell captains -- all just took wonderful care of me.

Highly recommend joining their program, received two beverages and 3 newspapers delivered to my door each morning at my convenience. (For a few dollars, add on the english muffin -- yummy!!! Hot chocolate came with fresh whipped cream and chocolate gourmet marshmellows too! ) Room service - always hot and prompt as ordered. Good burger and panini. Only odd thing -- room service trays remained in the hallway for several hours and frequently most of an entire day before being picked up. Even when housekeeping staff must have had to step around them to service the rooms on my hallway.

Turndown service included an historical notecard about the hotel with the next day's weather forecast. Plenty of lighting, lovely toiletries. And the walk in closet with safe, padded hangers, ironing board, extra blanket and pillow -- all put to good use!

Not a huge fan of Morsels - the daytime snack/food counter but their gift shop had everything you could possibly need and wonderful service. Always friendly and helpful.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone and look forward to returning again and again!

We stayed for two nights in between christmas and new year and coming from New York was surprised by the size of our room , it was huge. Furnishings definitely old but room was very clean. We were on the top floor and had a balcony with a lovely view. It was out of town but the tourist buses/trollwy's stopped across the road and as we had a two day pass we just caught the trolley bus to get us back into town each day. Close to restaurants if you don't want to eat in. The hotel itself is huge and majestic is the word which comes to mind but defintely needs updating. Staff were all helpful.

After requesting an early check in time and arriving at the hotel at noon my wife was told that no rooms were available and that they could call her mobile phone when a room was made up. After checking back with the desk multiple times she was finally given a room at 4:30pm - with the indifferent front desk agent saying "Oh, nobody called you? The room has been ready for hours." The bell desk then was unable to locate her one bag, which finally arrived at the room after 6pm.

She was given a room on the bottom floor of the outbuilding called Parkview, which had a thermostat, but said thermostat wasn't able to regulate the temperature. By late evening it was 76 degrees in the room when the heat turned on warming it up to over 80 degrees. The only way to cool the room down was to open the ground floor window, but the hotel backs on a dark park area and the window didn't have any security block on it to prevent it from opening far enough for someone to slip into the room, so having the window open all night wasn't a safe option. We called to complain and they sent the building engineer down, who explained that they don't have air-conditioning in that building.

After logging complaints each of the first three days of the stay we were finally given a different room in the main building - while slightly better this room backed on the lower rooftop HVAC system which was so loud that we were woken up several times each night of the last two nights of our stay.

We stayed at the Omni March 28-30for a quick visit over my children's spring break. I travelled with my husband. my 13, 8, and 3 year old, and we all agreed...we love the Omni! We booked the Zoo Package, which gave us free breakfast for two adults and two children, free valet parking and a zoo welcome package which included a stuffed panda, camera, pen and zoo map. Very nice.

Our room was very spacious....two queen size beds but really, there was enough space to fit another. the walk in closet was huge and while the bathroom was small, the anteroom with mirror and table was large enough to fit a Pack n Play.

The breakfast was unbelievable; the usual waffles, eggs, bacon, plus hash browns, and sausages, including turkey sausage; bagels lox, cream cheese, capers, red onion; steel cut oatmel; pastries including delish chocolate croissants; fresh fruit including delicious berries and manchego cheese, ham and bread as well. Coffee and fresh juice rounded out the meal. There was a brief mixup with our breakfast vouchers (honest mistake) but the staff was gracious and accomodating.

We found the staff to be very kind and welcoming; they graciously extended our check out time so we could log another visit to the zoo (4 blocks away) before we left. The metro is closeby and as toher reviewers have said, it is a very nice neighborhood. The Omni is an older property, it's true, but it is elegant and classy and imparts a great sense of history. The grounds are lovely as well; the view out from breakfast was of spectacular patio, fountain blooming trees and flowers...there was even a firepit back there. How nice.

For those of you who like to run, there is a route along a creek below the hotel...very pretty although near the road. Another great run is to run up the 4 blocks (hilly but easy) and into the zoo...while the zoo exhibits do not open 'til 10, the zoo is open early (I think at 6?) and you can run around the zoo. (There is alot of activity including construction of the new elephant habitat.) Some of the animals are out and I got to have some one on one time with a panda. Loved it!

It sounds as if your family had a wonderful trip to DC and we are glad that the Omni Shoreham could be a part of it. We think you shared some great recommendations with other travelers on different places to jog in the area and we have to agree that the zoo can be a very special place to visit before the regular hours. We appreciate all of the wonderful compliments you had for our hotel and associates and we hope that you and your family will return again soon.

I had occasion to stay at the Omni during the first week of April for a conference that took place in the hotel. I brought my teenage son with me for the trip during Cherry Blossom Week so that we could take in some of the museums during my trip. The hotel accommodations were wonderful, and the hotel staff couldn't have been better or nicer. Dolly, our housekeeper, was adorable - she even let us tour The Ghost Suite, which was right next door to our room 871 in the Main Building. She took really good care of us, and gently chided my son for sleeping the days away preventing her from cleaning our room when she needed to. It was pleasant banter, and made our stay seem more like being at home. Our beds were extremely comfortable, and we liked being able to open our windows for fresh air. The bathrooms are small, but adequate and the amenities were good. Two of the 5 nights we stayed there, we were unable to access the movie channel, which sucked. The hotel is also dog-friendly, which had we known, we would have brought our dog along. The food was excellent, except for some asian vegetable dish that was ghastly. The conference was wonderful - one of the best I'd been to - the meeting rooms were absolutely stunning - a great place for any special occasion. The location was good - close to the Metro, and various tour stops. There are some nice restaurants within a block that were good if you wanted to get out of the hotel - I recommend Mediterano and the little cafe at the corner (great desserts!). I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to the DC area for business or pleasure. The only downside of our trip was the traffic getting to and from the Mall or other tourist destinations - we were there during Cherry Blossom Week, and it was so crowded, one could only imagine what it was like during the inauguration. I wouldn't come again at this time of year, especially if you dislike crowds.

We are delighted to hear that you and your son had such a great stay with us. We are very fortunate to have associates like Dolly to make our guests feel at home. Please accept our apologies that the movie channel was not working . That is certainly an unusual occurrence. We do hope that you and your son will return again soon and if you want to find a time when there would be fewer crowds we would be happy to assist with your planning.
