The gardens are beautiful, the area surrounding the hotel is full of nice little restaurants and it is a minute to the subway - fantastic location! My husband and I loved this hotel. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was small but adequate. Robert's restaurant served delicious food by lovely staff - a very nice experience each time we ate there. The valet parking was somewhat expensive at US$28 per night. The hotel was full of magnificent long stemmed roses. Our morning beverage was delivered on time and with style. Staying at the Omni Shoreham was a wonderful experience and one I would certainly love to repeat!

Location, location, location. This is so close to the metro. Fantastic to find this gem at this great price, with its historical background so close to the metro. Felt very safe here. Close to everything. Husband and I have stayed here each time we visit Washington DC which we do once a year. The Beatles once stayed here (huge Beatle fans). Room was huge, king bed extremely comfortable, bathroom nice (not too big, not too small). Book thru the website, we always get a good price that way. (internet specials). We belong to Omni's club and so we got drinks and paper each morning. Very nice. Never stayed here and had the food or tried the pool but definitely go to the Open City Dinner across the street. Fantastic meals there. Oh, lastly, they rent bikes! We rented the bikes, rode thru the park straight to the monuments area. Absolutely best thing we ever did in Washington DC. But be forewarned, be in shape. I was not in the best of shape and getting back to the park was up hill. Had some trouble on the way back. :)

This is a beautiful historic hotel in a park setting and our stay was as perfect as possible. The purpose of our 5 night stay was to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary as well as visit our son and daughter in law who live in the area. Nicole checked us in and was extremely friendly and when I told her we were celebrating our anniversary, she took pains to find us a special room. It had a beautiful view of the gardens from the balcony.
The day of our anniversary we were surprised with a beautiful and delicious plate of chocolate dipped strawberries and grapes with a bottle of champagne on ice in our room, as well as being treated to a glass of champagne at dinner at Robert's the night before. We ate dinner at Robert's Restaurant twice and both times I ordered the T-bone steak and both times it was done perfectly, as well as all of the orders of my family members.
I also noticed the great care that the staff takes with attention to small details that made our stay very pleasurable. One example is the flower boxes that are on the roof that only guests can see. I took great delight in noting one of the staff members tending to them and plucking out the dead flowers to keep them beautiful. The gardens and all of the flower arrangements are exquisite.
I would like to thank Nicole and all of the staff for making our 40th wedding anniversary perfect.

Nothing to complain about.
We had a queen room, large, clean, comfortable and it wasn't even one of the newly refurbished ones.
The restaurat was great as well, both food and service.
The standout was the concierge service.
During our stay, the big snowstorm in Feb 2010 happened.
The concierge was on top of the situation, aware of all the airline issues, road closures etc. Really impressive.
They even posted a parcel for us after we left as the USPS services were interrupted.

Just returned from a three night stay at the Omni. While it is not in the heart of the city, we had no problem with the location. It is close 1-2 block walk to the Metro. The hotel is very large and was busy with several functions during our stay but we did not feel swallowed up the size. The little "extras" were great, a gift for the children, water bottles on arrival and milk and cookies delivered at night. Plus, sign up for guest select and recieve a choice of two beverages in the morning. Got coffee for the grown-ups and hot chocolate for the kids. We arrived very earkt (10am) and were allowed an early check-in. The room was a nice size and the bed was cozy. My only two minor complaints- the pillows were a little hard size (but I am fussy about bed linens) and the ac was kind of loud. But, the pluses outway this. The lobby, restaurant and grounds are beautiful. The staff was very nice and the buffet breakfast was terrific. The pool has a large low end -great for kids but got very crowded when we were there. Sometimes, there was almost no place to sit by the pool at 5 or 6 in the evening. All in all, we have a positve impression of the hotel and would return.

I’d have to say I am “on the fence” about Omni – I wasn’t blown away and it wasn’t entirely bad either.

I booked at the Omni based on its status on Trip Advisor and joined their rewards program to access free in-room internet, paper and also the morning drinks. Great offer to simply join their rewards program. Internet was greatly appreciated and the morning drinks were also excellent, 2 choices per person – coffee was good and the hot chocolate was great (they also supplied marshmallows and cream which I thought was a nice touch). My tip is on check-in make sure they know you are in the program as they didn’t know I was and took a little while to work it out – make sure you walk away from check-in with your door hanger things for drinks.

The hotel itself is not in the centre of town, it is a few of metro stops away – the metro itself, as others have said, is literally a couple of minutes walk from the hotel, not far at all.

I had asked for a quiet room but somehow ended up facing the main road and also where the buses wait for guests who might be at a function at the hotel. On one night I had to ring reception at about midnight to ask them to possibly move the buses who were in the parking lot with their engines running. One bus might have been “sleepable” but the 3 buses with their engines running was a bit much.

The set-out of the room was weird and not a very good use of space. We had 2 beds, desk and tv in one room, a separate (quite large) closet with safe and then quite a small bathroom – we were normal sized people, but if you were a little larger then you would have difficulty getting in the bathroom – the gap between the sink and the door was quite small.
We also found the air conditioner quite noisy.
It is an old hotel and we found our room door had quite a large gap down the bottom and around the sides which was quite annoying as quite a bit of light flowed into the room while we were sleeping. Lots of door slamming during the night too.

The pool looked nice but it wasn’t pool weather while we were there in April 2010. The gym was very nice and had lots of machines and equipment. Others have mentioned the cost of the gym however we went a couple of times and were not charged.

We needed some stamps one day and were charged twice the ticketed price of the stamps by the hotel shop.

We didn’t eat at the hotel, the breakfast price was a bit pricey. Instead we ate at the cafe literally across the road (it seemed very popular with lots of people doing the same thing) which was nice.

Would I stay here again, probably not, I would pick somewhere closer to the centre of town – one day the weather turned quite badly and by the time we had jumped on 2 different trains to get from where we were to the hotel and back again a couple of hours had passed.
