“Wonderful hotel and excellent staff”
Reviewed 2 October 2011

Just got back from 5 nights at the Park Hyatt, it was a great stay. The front desk and the bell staff were very helpful and provided excellent service. Great location - 10 minute walk to the Georgetown restaurants and shops and about a 5 minute walk to the metro. The room was spacious with a flat panel tv and a nice bathroom. Large comfy bed with reading lamps. The one unexpected item was that there were dust bunnies under the tv cabinet area that I guess the vacuum cleaner couldn't reach. Probably should not have dust bunnies on the carpet given the caliber and cost of the hotel. Free internet for platinum Hyatt members and free sedan service in the Capitol area which is first come first served. We used this service several times and it worked beautifully, the drivers were very friendly and helpful.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple times over the past month and each stay was excellent. The staff is extremely friendly, but not over the top, and all of my requests were handled promptly and politely.

I had a park deluxe room on one stay and a park suite on the other and each room was very large and tastefully decorated. The hotel is modern, but not over the top. I had breakfast each morning in the Blue Duck Tavern and the food was great. The service was a little slow, but after mentioning I was in a hurry the service greatly improved.

This is my new favorite hotel in DC and I will definitely be back.

Positives:
Large rooms
Luxury hotel without a stuffy feel
Friendly Staff
Amazing Restaurant

Negatives:
Far from the metro if you are taking public transit
Not enough outlets around the desk area
No HD channels

We stayed at Park Hyatt Washington DC for a night, and while it was slightly disappointing compared to Park Hyatt Beijing that I stayed at a year prior, it still lived up to its stylish luxury theme. We were also offered the opportunity to upgrade to a suite with extra $25 which we gladly took. Bathroom was great, loved the ceiling shower. Bed was super comfortable. Since we booked the room under the corporate rate, it was of great value too. The restaurant in the lobby, Blue Duck Tavern, has amazing food and service; I'd definitely recommend a dinner there if you want to have a nice (and rather pricey) dinner. Overall, a good stay and I would return again (only if under the corporate rate).

This place is beautiful to look at. And the service is excellent, literally every person we ran into was amazing, especially Chris the Bellman. But beyond looks.... let's see. The bed is uncomfortable, and there are not enough outlets (we had a suite). The room is dim, and boy is the lounge/bar dim - no reading in there! The bathroom in the suite had a walk in shower which I've enjoyed in many other hotels but it was SO open, its like you're showering in a great big empty room. Except the tub, the sink, the toilet and the CLOSET are right there. Very noisy in the morning. Light switches hard to figure out - we had a lamp that was positioned with the globe just directly on the floor, and you had to turn it off seperately - no switch turned it off. The worst part is the price of food/beverage. The bar has a very limited menu. So how about this: $30 (not including tip) for a cup of coffee and a bagel. Then $65 (not including tip) for a chicken caesar, glass of white wine and a diet coke delivered via room service. And a tea room? Please... give me a Starbucks or some kind of coffee shop any day. I just... don't think there's much value here. Even considering I expected it to be a high end hotel. Oh - and 2 nights in a row an unexpected knock on the door in the evening when I was already laying down. First - someone to scan the mini bar. Second night - someone to get my room service tray without calling ahead. So - the people were outstanding but I dind't much care for the rest. Have travelled quite a bit, and stayed in many Hyatts. This one is not for me.

Dear Akgambler,

Thank you for your feedback and I'm very disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your overall stay to the point that you would not consider staying with us again. While I'm glad to hear that our "staff was outstanding" and the "service was excellent", its still a big concern for us to hear about the other design & pricing dissatisfactions. I'd love to have the chance to speak to you directly in regards to those so please contact me at cornelia.samara@hyatt.com at your earliest convenience. Your feedback is very helpful to us so I look forward to chatting with you.

With Warmest Regards,

Cornelia Samara

I've stayed at the Park Hyatt for work a few times and really love this hotel. Every single space in the building is lovely, the staff are professional and friendly, and the rooms are luxurious. The breakfast table (the selection of breads, yogurt, fruit, ch1eese, etc.) available in the morning is the perfect way to start the day. Great fitness room, too

Not unexpectedly, the Park Hyatt is directed at people travelling on business so the breakfast room is filled with people on laptops and cell phones and there is a distinct rush to the bar from 5pm onwards. However, the hotel is not souless as is so often the case with business hotels.

We had a spacious suite which had most of the things that were necessary for a pleasant stay.

The buffet breakfast was ordinary. However, the food served in the evenings was much better.

Staff were helpful and efficient.

The hotel is conveniently located on 24 and M, right in foggy bottom, and close to georgetown and dupont circle (although for this last area there are many closer choices). Rooms are quite nice, and the service was efficient. In the mornings, the very nice pool this hotel has was empty (can't understand why!) and the fitness facilities are more than ok. Elevators have seats (unusual!) and contrary to other Hyatts (Hyatt Kiev, Hyatt Churchill in London, etc.) they work well and are fast. In my second stay, I was lucky enough to have enjoyed a free upgrade to a room on the 9th floor, which was quite big and comfortable. Overall, this Hyatt DC seems a very solid choice to stay especially for business. Something negative? Apart from the restaurant of the hotel, there are not many good restaurants in the area. And 24 and M in the evenings (i.e. 10pm) is extremely quiet and boring (even more than regular DC, which is a lot to say!).
