“Very modern hotel - w/large rooms”
Reviewed 13 March 2012

Very modern hotel and very large rooms. Lots of red and stainless steel and the bathrobes will be an experience you wont forget (ours were leopard print LOL)
Had a room off the main bedroom area that could be used as a seating are if you wanted.
We stayed on 8th floor directly across from the elevator and never noticed any hotel noise.
Staff very polite and helpful. Wife said the price point was a good price for DC. There are 3-4 hotels in the same area. A straight 15 minute walk down to the White house. Metro Trains are also 15 minute walk. Lots of Starbucks around DC, 5-10 minute walk to a couple of these depending on which way you are headed. Quite a few restaurants that are with in the same 10-15 minute walking distance. Hotel is located in more a quiet area, so walking to some of these other amenities are to be expected.

You wouldnt know how kid friendly this hotel is because it is very chic and adult looking. At the front desk is a toybox and little kids can pick something which was my three year olds dream come true. She tried to live in the box. The staff goes out of the way to help and are super happy/ friendly. Plan on being dropped off because there is nowhere to park nearby and valet was super busy. This was my first time in DC and the location was the only tricky part. It is dupont circle and there is no close shopping or restaurants. About a $8 cab to national mall. My room was huge for A queen and a stylish typical Kimpton design. Kimpton scores again.

Im a big Kimpton fan and frequent traveller to DC but this was first visit to the Rouge. I will definately come back. Typically I got complementary upgrade to King deluxe room. Lots of room, light and very clean. My only request was for "quiet" room and my upper floor room on back side of hotel was very quiet. Good location. Few blocks to shops and restaurants on Connecticut Ave and 17th Street. About 4 easy blocks to Metro. Staff were super. Good value and I highly recommend to business travelers and anyone else for that matter.

First off, as has been mentioned ad nauseum the location is outstanding. It is one of the more secure sections of DC within walking distance of nearly everything you would expect on a business trip. It is about 5-7 minute walk over to the White House and then mall just beyond. There are a number of dining options in the trendy district just 2-3 minutes along P Street.

As for the hotel, it works its trendy tone from the lobby into every room in the place. It is funky & fun but not something I'd prefer on a regular basis. As a oddity, it work for a few nights.

The room was spacious and the bed comfortable.

Room Tip: There is some street parking in front of the apartments next door that can help you avoid the costly...

This lives up to the quirky fun ambiance of a Kimpton hotel. Not the most elegant but very boutique feel. Staff is quite friendly and helpful. Room was good size and in good working order. Love being a Kimpton member and getting the mini bar pass. Makes you feel part of a club. Location is great for getting to much of DC although not very near a Metro stop. Lots of restaurants near by.

Lovely hotel! Very accomodating and service oriented. Nice extras such as water with oranges and water with cucumbers in the lobby at all times. Afternoon cocktails and coffee in the am. The rooms were clean, bright and comfortable. Conveniently located.
