“First rate, by far one of the best in DC”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2012

I don't need many words; great hotel, amazing staff, modern rooms and the perfect location. One word....GO
Actually, TA won't print w/o more words. We have stayed here 4 years in a row and we have loved every stay. Truly one of the best in DC. OK TA did I meet the 200 character minimum???

Room Tip: Just let them know if you want a quiet room. They can arrange to be away from the kids.

Kimpton has put its stamp on this hotel. The property has been through many hands, but the Kimpton renovation and redecoration is tasteful and elegant. The rooms are good-size, the staff has a great attitude, and the location can't be beat. The Dupont Circle Metro is two blocks away. If you don't want to eat in Urbana, the hotel restaurant, many good choices await you within a few blocks. In the morning, you can grab a free cup of coffee or tea in the lobby and prospect for breakfast. The bagel joint across the street is pretty good, and there is a mini-supermarket there if you want juice and yogurt. The swimming pool is one of the best parts of the experience -- and is is rare to find a centrally-located hotel with one. All in all, excellent. The room rates are higher than at other Kimpton hotels, for obvious reason, so if this one seems too pricey, try the Kimpton Topaz or Rouge.

Room Tip: Higher floors are away from street noise. If Kimpton e-mails you to ask if you want a cheap upgrade...

My husband and I recently stayed here for one night while we were in the city. We were greeted by very polite staff and check in was quick - when we got to the room it was beautiful and also had great views.

As pretty as the hotel was, it felt like there was something missing. What I mean is, it didn't have anything different about it - it was just a hotel. We checked in, slept and checked out. Nothing really kept us at the hotel. Although there was lots of people coming to eat and have drinks at the hotel, it was all very busy and rushed.

Room Tip: Go for the corner rooms to avoid being by the elevators and to get some quiet time.

I love the location of this hotel. It is on a side street just off Dupont Circle. There are numerous dining options around the hotel including a very good empanada store a block away. This is a boutique hotel so don't expect a huge lobby but it is well designed. The rooms are modern with quirky touches that add to the fun level of this property. We had an executive room which was large by industry standard. The hotel restaurant is very good. Had dinner there one night and found the black squid ink papardelle with lobster very well executed. Only negative part of the hotel is that the elevators are slow!

This hotel had so many little unexpected pleasures. The room was lovely and quiet, bed and linens were all fine. I love staying near Dupont Circle, with easy access to the Metro and all kinds of excellent ethnic restaurants and great shops nearby.

But I especially appreciated that complimentary glass of wine and tasty olives in the lobby after a long day of work, and equally appreciated the coffee in the same location in the morning. I managed to get a quick swim in at the lovely little outdoor pool in back. I have no complaints, and the various perks really add up. I'll be back.

Excellent DC property and great value. Extremely genuine, friendly and accommodating staff. Solid facility, with typical Kimpton freebies like coffee and wine/cheese. Excellent gym for one this size. Elevators are old and slow ... but they reported that an upgrade is in the works.

We wanted to be close to Dupont Circle and decided that the Palomar Hotel was in the perfect location. It was a fine choice in every way - two blocks from Dupont Circle, two blocks from the Phillips Gallery (my favorite!!!), a short walk to lovely breakfast places, and a 20 minute walk through gorgeous neighborhoods in Georgetown. It was also close to the Metro's Red Line which took us to the museums and sites of DC. The hotel was nicely appointed, and while the rooms were on the small side, they were clean, chic, and comfortable. Each morning there was complimentary fresh good coffee, tea and newspapers in the lobby, and we also asked for and got a coffee maker in the our room. There were urns of iced water and juices all morning and afternoon, and from 5-7p.m. the hotel offered complimentary wine and light snacks.

The hotel had a little restaurant where, due to the convenience, we had breakfast on the morning we checked out. It was not good at all, especially compared to the lovely little eating places within steps of the hotel door. Live and learn.

Room Tip: It is a convention center so I would ask for rooms on higher floors. We were on the 4th floor and th...
