My husband and I stayed at the Palomar for four nights in January and it was great! I really enjoyed the location of the hotel on P street, a bit off the beat and track from the craziness of Dupont Circle. We have stayed in other hotels in DuPont, and I think the Palomar was the nicest. I don't know if we lucked out or what, but our room was HUGE. It had a hallway leading into the room, and was at least 500 sq feet. We had a lot of space for our 2 duffle bags!
The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, and of course, the wine reception every night was a big hit.
All in all, its a great place and would definitely stay here again.

Thank you so much for your fantastic review ALtravel1223. I am glad you chose our hotel and enjoyed your stay. The Palomar DC does indeed have some of the largest rooms in the city and is in a great location just a short walk or quick cab ride from most of the city’s main attractions. Thank you so much for the kind words about our staff, we pride ourselves on providing the best possible service anywhere and I am glad you enjoyed your experience. Please make sure to contact when you return to Washington, we will be sure to make it another great stay. –Jerry Chou

Small rooms. Nice location though right near dupont. Good resturants walking distance. Philips collection 3 blocks away. Staff is average. Nothing very memorable about the hotel though. Manager lizz anne was nice ( sorry don't think I spelled that right)

Thank you so much for your honest feedback blueh2ogirl. I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the size of your room. The Palomar DC actually has some of the largest rooms in the city. In the future I will recommend that you reservation the Executive room. The Executive room is double the size of our King deluxe room and will for sure be much more spacious and comfortable. Please also reach out to me when you return in the future, I will personally ensure that your stay with us goes flawlessly. –Jerry Chou

We stayed here with our 20 year old daughter. It's a trendy little place in the lobby, but a little dated once you reach the rooms, which are TINY by any standards - even smaller than rooms we have had in Europe, and that's saying something. I think they would be great for a single business person - our daughter was very happy in her room by herself, but my husband is well over 6' tall, and I'm not a midget, so it was a little bit cramped in our room. However, the staff are very nice, helpful and friendly, particularly Phil the Texan concierge, it's in a great location with lots of good restaurants and cafés around, the shower is hot and strong and the bed is very comfortable. We also loved the silly animal print bathrobes.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback Mardi S. I am sorry to read that you were not satisfied with the size of your room. The Hotel Palomar does have some of the most spacious rooms in the city but the larger rooms are the Executive rooms. In the future I would recommend you to reserve one of the Executive class rooms instead of the Deluxe rooms as they are double the size and much more comfortable. Thank you so much kind words about our staff and Philip. I will be sure to share your comments with the team. Please reach out to me when you return to the states, I will be sure to make your stay a 5 star experience. –Jerry Chou

Check-in process:
+ very quick
- didn’t recognize me or asked me if I am a Kimpton InTouch member which I am

Preferences:
- my preferences are low floor and room close to the elevator. They gave me a top floor and the farthest room from the elevator right by the exit

Room curtains:
- my room was facing a narrow street and the curtains didn’t close completely so the neighbors from the opposite house can see you in your hotel bed!!

Light:
- rooms don’t have centralized switch-on / switch-off so each day you have to go to each lamp to turn on the lights and then turn them off one by one before going to sleep
- sockets don’t work for international adapters so bring all your phone, ipad, ipod charged

Room size:
- the room has a good size. But the design looks as if you were in a Flintstones movie including a leopard robe that was so outworn that it must have been worn by every customer since the hotel was opened

Wifi internet access:
+ I had it included in my room rate
- Terrible connection. Never better than “Acceptable” speed

Bathroom:
- no handheld shower, no massage options, no fan available in the bathroom
- who was the designer who placed the paper rolls under the towel hanger?
- they had advertisement in the room saying that it was a female room with female amenities. Well, the amenities were: shampoo, bath was and cotton buds. Don’t men use them as well?

TV:
- only English-speaking US channels

Mini-bar:
- there is no room for personal items. I asked room service to have the mini-bar emptied so that I could put my personal items, and they told me that they would charge me $15 for either emptying or bringing me an empty fridge

Coffee / tea:
- no coffee maker in the room. If you want one they also charge you for it

Other amenities:
+ they provide you with a yoga mat in case you want to exercise in the room. Very convenient

Elevators:
- several elevators available but it takes a long time to catch one

Breakfast:
- there wasn’t any rate available with breakfast so didn’t have breakfast in the hotel since it was very expensive and with few options

Evening social:
- they give you free wine in the afternoon. If you don’t drink alcohol, you have to pay for whatever you want. The wine hour is celebrated in the hall so if you arrive at the same time, be prepared to wait and skip the people in the hall

Shuttle:
- no shuttle available

The area:
+ Dupont Circle underground is a 5-minute walk away
+ Many restaurants in the area
+ Walgreens is a 5-minute walk away

Distance to Ronald Reagan: around 20-30 minutes. Around USD 20-25

We arrived late evening to a great reception - bags unloaded and taken to our room as we were swiftly checked in by bright and helpful staff. As it was New Years day, Urbana (their restaurant) was closed, but we were given restaurant recommendations within walking distance, and they called to check that each was open before we left.
We decided to check the room out before hitting a restaurant and we were really pleased - it was huge, with a capacious wardrobe, chaise, desk, an enormous bed and a window that ran the width of the room. The bathroom too was excellent - everything clean and new, although the bath was a little on the small side (no great shakes, but it was pretty cold and we're a sucker for a good soak to warm up!).
The location in Dupont was great - we walked to restaurants, bars and diners for brunch within minutes - we walked everywhere to be fair - it didn't even take long reach the White House at a leisurely pace.
I can't fault anything at the Palomar. Every member of staff was unfailingly polite and helpful (and gave great recommendations for food, sights and tours), the hotel itself was new and clean and well designed, and the room was superb.
I already want to go back to DC, and when I do will book the Palomar again - highly recommend.

The rooms are huge and immaculately clean, beautifully decorated with a modern look and very comfortable, as is the rest of the hotel. I don't remember exactly what we paid for the room (king size bed), but I think it was around $169-$189 a night and it was well worth it. We did not have any bad experiences with noise or malfunctioning facilities or elevators. Happy hour was a nice treat and the house restaurant was very good, albeit a bit expensive....we were treated like royalty by the staff. The location is wonderful...within walking distance to the underground and to many museums and restaurants....no need to rent a car. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My wife and i stayed at the Palomar this fall for 6 nights and loved the hotel. The front desk staff was warm and helpful and the room was large and comfortable. The location on Dupont Circle is perfect with a number of restaurants nearby and tube access only 2 blocks away.

The only slight negatives - the hallways are a bit dark and the ice machine closet in the hallway was leaky with mold growing not the wall - ughhh.

Overall, we loved our stay here and will return on our next trip to DC.
