“Enjoyed the Plaza”
Reviewed 27 May 2012

Stayed at the Washington Plaza Hotel for one night while in DC for a little rest and relaxation. I checked in about 10:30am and a room was already available for me. The room was spacious, clean, and a little larger than I expected. One of the reasons I chose the hotel was for the outdoor pool and I wasn't disappointed. I've stayed in the area a few times and outdoor pools don't seem to be very common. Fortunately, the pool opened for the season on the day I checked in (hint - if the pool is important, make sure it's scheduled to be open while you are there). The customer service at this hotel was excellent from check-in to checkout. If you're in DC for sightseeing, the hotel is located near Embassy Row and about 5 blocks from the nearest Metro station. The White House is about 10 blocks away. If you bring a car, be prepared to spend about $30 a day to park it at the hotel. The only other negative comment I have is that the satellite signal on my television went out a few times during my stay.

First time in Washington this April and this hotel is lovely. Very friendly staff, clean rooms and beds good size, no noise, and within walking distance of the attractions. The best hotel we have stayed in during our holidays in America so far.

Room Tip: A higher floor and not next to the elevators

I travel to DC about 1 or 2 times a year and had been wanting to stay here for a few years. I stayed here for 2 nights in early April and loved it. The room service is very tasty and they have a decent selection, the hotel is very clean and up to date, and the staff are fantastic.

It is about 4-5 blocks or so from the Metro, so not too bad of a walk. It is also easy to take a cab of course. I read on here to ask for a room on a high floor to avoid street noise, I did request that in the comment section of my online booking and was given a room on 9, which I think may be the top floor. I had absolutely no issue with street noise though!

Room Tip: ask for a room on a higher floor with a view of Thomas Circle

My boyfriend and I made a trip to DC for my birthday weekend. We decided on this hotel because we got a great rate on Hotwire and it was located downtown. We had a queen size room which I am assuming is their smallest room considering you can upgrade to a king size bed for an extra $30.00 a night. We decided to stick with the queen since we weren't going to be in the room much anyway. Our first room was literally right next the elevator. I think we were in there for about 2 minutes before we called to change the room. It was just insanely noisy but the front desk was very understanding and sent a bell hop up right away to give us keys to our new room. The room we stayed in was very small. We are not big people in any way and there was not much room for the two of us. Everything was very clean and tastefully decorated. Other than the size of the room, it was a very nice room. The hotel is located within walking distance of everything and we felt very safe here walking around. There are lots of restaurants and bars near by also. The only thing I did not like about this hotel was that they charge you a parking fee (which we knew about) but then on top of that they charge you a parking tax. I believe when you call and ask they should tell you about the extra tax they charge you per day. Overall this hotel is very nice, clean, small rooms but is located in a nice area and within walking distance of almost anything you would like to see in DC.

Room Tip: When booking the hotel take into consideration the size of the room along with the cost of the parki...

This would have to be one of the best hotels we have stayed at on our 9 week trip to the U.S.A. from Australia. the staff were great, hotel location to all attractions was perfect and convenient. The hotel facilities were the best particularly the lounge bar very relaxing and quiet. Anyone that is looking for a great hotel without the usual tourist circus crowd this is the place for you, very professional and a real pleasure for your stay.

Room Tip: Higher floors are better to escape any noise factors, ask for a room away from noisy lifts. Avoid ro...

Stayed at the Washington Plaza for 3 nights and was totally happy with the hotel. Room was a nice size, with vanity and shower conveniently separated. The concierge was very helpful in suggesting restaurants close by and for arranging tours. As suggested by many reviewers on Trip Advisor, we asked for a room on higher floors with a view over Thomas Circle. It was lovely. If you enjoy walking, you can easily get to the Capitole or Georgetown on foot. All in all, a very good choice at a very reasonable price.

Last minute decision to come to DC post Cherry bloosoms seaso hoping to find cheaper hotels but man, it costs me a bomb having to pay $200 a nite(via internet) without breakfast or transfers (by way of comparison pay same price at Holiday Inn Express on the fringe of city - so what do you want to trade off ?) - convenience or hassle of busing and paying expensive taxi fares.

Pool is under renovation but it is only good for summer. This is a business hotel and fillers like me without per diem choose this hotel because of cleanliness and proximity to major sights (the Mall which is about half hour walk to Smithsonian Nat Hist museum

Overall, if you can get an advance booking through AAA you might get better value/discount from this hotel. I like it because it is near to the Mall and some good eateries named Brown Bag which does reasonable priced sandwiches etc.
