“A Pleasant Stay in DC”
Reviewed 18 June 2013

We stayed in this hotel in DC for 3 nights in June 2013. Hotel was very clean and very well kept.
Beds were comfortable and room was a decent size (we had just come from New York City where our hotel room was tiny!) Two double beds, flat screen TV, in room safe, mini-fridge. We also liked that the tub/shower and toilet were in a separate room from the sink. This just made it easier for the rest of the group to get ready while someone was in the shower.

Our room was also very quiet. We never heard anyone in the hallways. There was outside traffic and noise but it was very minimal.

We also spent one afternoon at the pool. There were only about 4 other people at the pool at that time, so it was very enjoyable and relaxing. Pool was very clean. The only disappointment was there is no hot tub.

This hotel is located approximately 1 mile from the White House and National Mall. If you don't mind the walk, it's very doable. But, don't think that you are "right across the street" from the historic sites. The National Mall is still very large and a lot to walk around in itself. We choose to drive and park near the National Mall and then walk around the monuments/memorials.

Our only issue during our stay was that we had problems getting in and out of the parking garage. Upon check-in at the hotel, we had told the front desk we would be utilizing self park. Therefore, we should have been able to use our room key to swipe in and out of the parking garage (prompting the daily $25 parking charge to our room). Apparently there were problems with the self park machines because they never worked. Each time we attempted to leave the parking garage, one of the valet staff members or a manager had to come over and swipe us out. It was only a minor inconvenience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a pool view. This will not only give you a view of the pool area but also of the...

Just held a professional gathering at the bar. It is large, quiet and had good service and nice food. That was my experience last year as well. The outdoor pool is one of the nicest in DC area, large and pretty, good for a swimmer like me or for kids. Saw the rooms. Not huge, true, but recently renovated and up to date. This hotel is much closer to the White House and Mall than most of the others, and most of the others that are close by are very expensive. I live here and I know them all. I will be recommending this to my friends.

Room Tip: Personally would like to face the pool but the other views would be fine too.

The hotel is about 4 blocks from the Mc Pherson Metro station so it's very convenient. Also it's on the 14th Street Restaurant and theater area so you can walk to some of the best restaurants in the city. The room had a nice size. It was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. Wi-Fi worked perfectly. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here because it was a relatively good price and relatively close to the things we wanted to see. It was okay - the room was a little small, the internet had issues from time to time, the fan didn't work in the bathroom, etc., but none of the items were "big" items. The staff was nice indeed. We only ate in the bar area restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised with it. Good food indeed. The parking under the hotel is very tight, so I was glad we had rented a Ford Escape. Driving my 3/4 ton truck or Suburban would have made for a very frustrated parking situation. But, when you consider many of the hotels do not have their own parking, again, this was not a big deal.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We picked the location because it is close to some of the attractions. Its on the fringe of the Downtown area. You can walk to the White House and some of the other attractions. We wanted to visit the memorials and museums in the area and for that the location is great. We did not eat at the hotel as we like to try some of the locates restaurants / cafes - there are plenty of places for you to eat.
Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool and Thomas Cirlce. The door to the balcony did not close properly and the room was a little small (I think this room was designed for one person).
Overall hotel was clean and the bed comfortable, its probably ideal if you are staying there for business. Other guests appears well behaved and it was quite at night which is what we seek these days. Did not see any families with kids staying at the hotel. Free wifi provided which was great. Note: The fitness centre does not have any weight machines. Mainly a couple of running machines. They have hand weights but a very limited range.
Summary - check in and check out was easy - enjoyed the stay

Located within walking distance of the convention center and lots of restaurants, this hotel is a good option for those who want to keep costs low but stay in a nice hotel. I had a 2nd floor room facing the pool with a balcony. It was great until a pool party one night was so loud I felt like I was there. The outer door does not muffle ANY sound. The bed was comfortable. The room was small, but OK for one person. I'd stay there again.

We stayed at the Washington Plaza for the weekend. Overall the hotel is clean, the rooms are spacious and well kept. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant, but did have a drink in the lounge that was very relaxing. The staff was friendly and helpful.
However, one item situation is still not sitting right with me. We checked in around 3:30pm. It was a typical 90+' Washington Summer Day. A couple in thier early 20's had come down from thier room and were also at the front desk. They asked for 2 pool passes. The clerk advised them that the pool was full for the day and they were not issuing any other passes. ??? I was a bit shocked by this but my assumption was that the entire Hotel must be at the pool due to the heat.
We checked into our room that was over looking the pool and Thomas Circle. However, there were maybe 15-20 people in the pool area. There were 3 times as many empty chairs as there were occupied chairs. Not sure why the couple was turned away, but I though they needed to work on the hotels system for monitoring the pool activity.
