Large modern hotel, great location for doing the tourist sites in Washington, mostly walkable from the hotel. The room we had was large, on the top floor, nice view. Swimming pool was a bonus but became crowded after 5pm. Tried breakfast once, it was buffet style and we found it to be good value. Professional and welcoming staff. Tip:- turn right out of the hotel and walk up 14th street, you will come to neighbourhood bars/cafes/restaurants off the tourist trail.

Room Tip: Upper floors may have less traffic noise, all rooms overlook a fairly busy roundabout. The top floo...

Stayed here for 4 nights. Good location, quiet, safe and accessible. Room service was quick and tasty, the pool was lovely and well maintained. Room was satisfactory- large and did everything I needed it to and had a good view. Would stay here again for sure.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the pool and the circle...great view.

+ Just another hotel in DC. Nothing special about this hotel.
+ Arranged conveniently the local site seeing trips & airport transfers

- Far from attractions and for the same price I would rather opt for some other hotel, so that at least the walking distance is less.

I stayed at the Washington Plaza several years ago and was not impressed. It was shabby and I would not have recommended it then. However, the Plaza has undergone extensive renovations since then and I would definitely recommend it now! I stayed there last June 2012 and again last week (2013). I found the staff to be very helpful, they have a nice restaurant, a beautiful swimming pool with an outdoor bar and tables if you want to eat outside. It is conveniently located. There are several good restaurants nearby, also a Whole Foods if you want to stock the little fridge. Easy walk (for me -- I love to walk) or short cab ride to Dupont Circle and one of my favorite little museums (the Phillips Collection) -- and easy access to anywhere else in the city. There is also a small gym with the basics (treadmill).

Room Tip: I always ask for a higher floor overlooking the pool. But make sure you are high enough otherwise yo...

The location is great, and they have a very nice outdoor pool at lobby level.
I had been here before, and rooms have been nicely renovated. All rooms have the same decor. Some rooms are small, others are really tiny: you have to decide between being able to use the chair or putting your suitcase somewhere. But other rooms are nice and ample.
All rooms come with a little fridge, and there is turn down service. Every evening, they bring you two free water bottles and ice.
Very nice lobby, bar and restaurant. The breakfast buffet is excellent: the usual fare, plus steamed veggies in addition to hash browns. They have an omelet station and nice cheeses, fine cold cuts and even smoked salmon.
One of the receptionists was not too nice, but rest of staff was good.

Room Tip: Don't get the room behind the elevators, it is microscopic and has a very odd vibe (probably the...

This was my first time back (last week) at this hotel in several years and either my memory is fading or they renovated it since my last stay. From management comments on a previous review it seems they have different room styles. I was on the 9th floor and had a very large room by any standards, and downright huge for DC. The furnishing were comfortable although I really just used the bed and the desk chair. My room was very close to the elevators but I could only hear the elevator chimes if I was standing right by the door of my room. They provide a couple of bottles of water each day and they even fill the ice bucket - a real nice touch. I had dinner one evening in the restaurant and the breakfast buffet every morning. Food was good and service was excellent. Prices are typical downtown hotel food prices. The hotel is within walking distance of two Metro stops and the White House. A bit longer walk all the way to the Mall. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and even a couple of shops to pick up snacks and souvenirs. This hotel is also within walking distance of our DC offices and a trade association that I visit a couple of times a year so the Plaza will likely become my regular hotel in DC. In fact I'll be back the last week of July and have already made my reservations.

This hotel is in Thomas Circle within 1 mile of downtown, Within 1/4 mile or less to great eateries. The rooms were a little tired, but very reasonable for Room with 2 comfy double beds. Service was decent.
