Spent Easter weekend here with youngest son and found it to be reasonable value and great room. Staff mostly attentive but thaose in the bar area do need to wake up and serve waiting customers. Would i stay there again, yes.

Our family (two kids, 9 and 7), stayed at the Mayflower for 4 nights. I knew ahead of time (from the Trip Advisor reviews) to ask for a larger room (we were in 968), so I called the day before. Trevor was very helpful on the phone. I also asked for a roll away bed and a mini refrigerator for our room, which they were happy to provide. There was also a fully stocked coffee area for us (that was restocked daily), which we really appreciated.

The hotel is beautiful and grand, and very clean. The location is amazing, very close to the White House, Dupont Circle, great shopping, restaurants and the subway. We discovered Pret A Manger for breakfast every day, just around the corner. Fresh and super fast.

Everyone was so accommodating and pleasant. It was a fantastic stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room, they are happy to accommodate. Not the best view of the city, but that did n...

Spent two nights here while attending a conference. Beautiful lobby, but tired, dated rooms, with scuffed furniture, peeling paint and wallpaper, dusty and kind of sad looking rooms. Front desk staff aren't particularly nice or helpful and the whole place feels like a bus station. Won't be coming back. Marriott brands really need a rebranding. I've stayed in many DC hotels and this one was by far the least pleasant or enjoyable. There is nothing upscale about it.

We spent the weekend in DC and overall we enjoyed our stay at the Mayflower and would stay again. In general, the pros outweighed the cons:

Pros
- The Bellhop was really friendly and helpful, telling us about the hotel and area.
- The room was small, but clean and the mattress was pretty comfortable.
- It's a 30 minute walk to the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial, and about a 10 minute walk to the White House.
- There's a CVS around the corner.
- We liked the candy bar set up around 5pm, and the coffee and tea set up in the morning in the lobby. I'm not sure if this is just for weekends or everyday but it was nice.
- We had the breakfast buffet included at Edgar's and it was delicious! Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, muffins & other pastries and a really good fruit selection, coffee, tea and juice. The waiter was excellent too. I wish other diners didn't behave like animals though. We both kept getting cut off by people acting like the buffet was only open for the next minute. So much for civility. Breakfast ends at 10 am and there was a long, long line outside around 9:30 am. So don't go too close to closing time.
- Aveda toiletries.

Cons
- Our room wasn't ready when checking in so reception asked for our phone number so they could call us when our room was ready. Well, we came back a few hours later and our room was ready - they never called. Why bother asking for a phone number if you won't call?
- There was no in-room safe. That's the biggest con. If we stayed longer than a weekend or had lots of valuables, I'd look elsewhere.
- There were lids and coffee but no cups. We called to ask and got an icy reception that went like this: "Hi this is room -" "yes I know. What do you need." It looked like whoever stopped by just threw a big plastic bag of cups and coffee down. It wasn't nicely set up and just looked like the person was annoyed.
- The water pressure was pretty light, and for some reason either the air conditioning or water dried my skin out.
- I could hear kids next door screaming. Luckily it didn't happen while we were sleeping or early morning.

This hotel has been around since the 1930's when my mom started going there for Greek dances.
My mom called it the gem of DC back in the day. It still is. Best service. Lea Gunderson checked me in on a very busy day in 60 seconds flat. I've been here many times and her commitment to quality service is truly a breath of fresh air.

Stayed here for two nights during spring break and really enjoyed the stay. The staff that I encountered, from the doorman to housekeeping, were all helpful and friendly. We had two rooms and they were both spacious and clean. Hotel was also within walking distance to a variety of attractions and restaurants in the DuPont Circle section of DC.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for five nights during Spring Break and only have positive things to say about the room (not huge but clean and well appointed) and lobby (magnificent). Our check in experience was friendly and the staff at the front door were also very pleasant. In addition, the hotel has hosted many inaugural balls and past presidential visits, the staff seem very eager to share the history. However, where this hotel really exceeds any other hotel experiences was with Rudy, the concierge in the 8th floor Club Lounge. My husband has Marriott status that allows us to access the Club Lounge, without this the hotel experience would probably still be good but this easily put it up to perfection. Rudy helped us plan our itinerary every day and recommended the best restaurants. In addition, at the end of every evening, he was around to ask about the day and put out spectacular deserts and even make some special treats for our two kids.

Room Tip: Stay on the 8th floor if possible for access to the Club Lounge.
