Ideally located for all the sights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely big room, with a small kitchenette which is great if you want to save some money and eat in. There is a fantastic health food supermarket which is a short walk away with an amazing selection of food.

We really enjoyed our stay. We chose this property for its Foggy Bottom location and ended up loving it for other reasons. The on-property restaurant/bar, Dish, was much better than expected at a little hotel. The neighborhood is quiet, especially being so close to GWU, GWHospital and the Kennedy Center. Its an 11 minute walk to the Kennedy Center. We could see Watergate buildings from our room. Georgetown is a 15 minute walk. We had to appreciate that the windows opened in this hotel. Everything we encountered was clean and in good working order.

This is a wonderful gem of a residence inn on a quite, leafy street in Foggy Bottom. Believe it or not, it's just 2 blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro and GW, and a mere 4 blocks from the Kennedy Center and the memorials on the Mall. Accommodations were elegant, well appointed, a HUGE room. With a full kitchen (with full size refrigerator!) discreetly tucked around a corner of the room! Not that we needed to use it, but if we'd stayed a week, we would have. Also, we asked for a room with a view at the last minute, and the staff did not disappoint. It was perfect. The restaurant, Dish + Drinks, was a big surprise. The food was top notch. We're from this area, and now consider this our go to inn for a getaway weekend. What a spectacular find.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view and a queen size bed (I think they only have queen size, but they must be...

Greetings SKL2010, we're thrilled that The River Inn will now be your "go to inn for a getaway weekend". Thanks for letting reviewers know that The River Inn is located in a beautiful residential area, how nice our room accommodations are, and how our in house restaurant Dish+Drinks were a pleasant surprise. I know you stayed in a room with a queen size bed, however, we also offer rooms with king size beds so next time you come back, if it's available, it's yours!

Our family stayed here for a couple of days to tour Washington. All I can say is that when we come back to Washington, this will be our place to stay again. The rooms have full size kitchens and even though suite was not the separate bedroom the room was large enough to open a full size pull out bed and not feel like we were on top of each other(2 kids, 2 adults) and the room was very clean.the location was perfect, right up the street from the metro, walking distance to the Lincoln Memorial and other monuments. Five minute walk to Georgetown, Kennedy Center and Watergate Hotel. We were in a residential area which made it very quiet but a block away from numerous restaurants and shopping.

The staff incredible, when you stay ask for Will he will lead in the right direction whatever type of reasoning your are in washington, He lead to excellent restaurants, directions and the best way to tour washington and get the best bang for your buck. Unfortunately, I can't not remember the young women who assisted us but she had blond her in a cute bob. She had the hook up to the best pizza I have tasted and great with the kids.

The final thing we got an excellant price through Hotels.com and the amount we ended up paying was less than 130 a night and that included valet the car. You can't beat that in Washington.

This was a great hotel! Easy to get to and use the Metro - so forget the rental car when in D.C. The hotel was very clean with modern decor in spacious apartment style rooms and comfortable beds. The hotel front desk staff (especially Kacem) was extremely friendly and helpful. We used the free hotel bikes one day to tour all the monuments as well as the river trailway near the hotel. Made for a terrific and enjoyable stay in D.C.

They were happy we had chosen them as our first trip to D.C. so they actually threw in a bottle of wine (a mini one) and some cookies with a hand written note when we entered our suite. That was just cool! And, our corner suite was super huge, looked out over NW D.C. with awesome sunshine from the evening sun. Nice view from 6 floors up like of the Potomac, Georgetown, and the Watergate. Couldn't have asked for better, seriously, because we love it when we have a cozy couch with big TV in one room, and our bedroom is around the corner and in a separate area. And a kitchen, and a dining table, and modern looking desks, I mean you can't beat this. Oh, but you can: they have bikes which are FREE to guests to pedal around the sites of D.C. They were nice enough to ask us to call them every 2 hours and if no one else was waiting for the bikes, we could keep biking. We ended up using them from 10am to 9pm!! That would have cost a small fortune with the 'Capital Bikeshare' program. We we talking to folks around the Jefferson Memorial about this (they were on the Capital bikes) and they couldn't believe it. Then we told them the price of the suite...they were blown over and were speechless. I'm telling you, the River Inn is one heck of nice place to stay in D.C. Trader Joe's is just a block and a half away. The Foggy Bottom Metro is just a block and half away. Georgetown's M street restaurants are way cool and a short bike ride away down K street. So is Kayaking. The whole staff is incredible. The rooms are clean and modern. Why WOULDN'T you stay here? I sure will, let me tell you. The best deal in town. (I'm from N.H.)

Room Tip: I would ask for one of the corner suites.
