“Perfect for our two nights...”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We had 2 days vacation so we flew into DCA and stayed at State Plaza. We picked for its price (#1) and for its location (#2). It was very close to all the attractions / exhibits we wanted to see. We were greeted very friendly at our arrival by all the hotel staff we encountered. Everyone here appeared to work well as a team and treated all the guests with the utmost respect. The shower head was magnificent. Bathroom is "dated" as the tile and sink and mirror are old, but very, very well maintained. Hot water is almost instant and is plentiful . Towels soft and luxurious . Has separate vanity and mirror. Kitchen had gas. 4 burner stovetop and refrigerator. HVAC is older but worked very well for us. Would stay here again.

The location of this hotel is its number one asset. It is located on GW's campus and is within walking distance of the White House as well as most of the other major sites in DC. It will be very hard to find a better located hotel in DC for this price! The staff was very helpful and friendly, and I could tell that they really cared about our comfort during our stay. As for the property itself, it is a little dated, but very clean and taken care of. The room was huge and very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We didn't get to use the kitchen but it looked good and certainly was a useful feature to have. I would definitely recommend!

Our three night stay at the State Plaza Hotel was really good. We literally walked everywhere between the Kennedy Centre to the Supreme Court building. It is really close to all of the memorials. There is a grocery store three blocks away in the university area. The hotel has an entrance and lobby on both E & F Street. We arrived at the E St. entrance but our room was in the F St. building so we had to walk through the first building, across a breezeway, through the parking garage into our building - it is not a big deal but I can see how it could be a bit of a turn off for some. I thought we got excellent value at this hotel. We booked two weeks in advance which was quite a saving. I really don't think you can find a better location, and this quality of accommodation for this price. The room was a good size and the king bed had linens and pillows to die for. There is a small separate kitchen with a two chair table set, full fridge, sink and gas stove top. Kitchen equipment is very basic but fine for breakfast and small meals. The bathroom was small but it did have quite a large adjoining dressing room. The rooms were nicely decorated and everything seemed relatively new. Even though the corridors also seemed freshly decorated I think they missed the mark on the colours (industrial grey). The hotel staff dropped off a couple of small bottles of water each evening which was very nice to take out the next day. I did have quite a problem booking with the hotel because I tried to get the "Trip Advisor" Bed & Breakfast that was on offer. The website didn't work and I couldn't get much help on the weekend so had to wait two days. In fairness, the reception girl did get the information and called me on the Monday as promised. She was very good even though I think the B&B offer is not really a deal for TA at all since it is quite a bit more than we paid for our room. The hotel has free WIFI. And, the elevators are very slow!

Room Tip: I am not sure if all the rooms have a kitchenette so you may want to ask for one.

Spent 3 nights at the State Plaza Hotel in Washington, D.C. and the room was very nice. The main room was large and there was a kitchen with a table for 2, a stove, sink, dishes, etc. There was also a separate vanity room next to the bathroom. It was very clean. The staff was very helpful, especially Bekele, who helped us with our luggage and advised where to go and eat. The location was great - very centrally located. Walking distance to most of the attractions. I will definitely return to this hotel.

My relatives stayed here for my cousins graduation, we loved the rooms. Very clean one of my aunt stayed in the renovated rooms. The staff was very attentive and help my family get around DC first time here.
After the ceremony we were so tired that we decided to go the Fstreet Bistro, I wish we would have time to come again. I had the hummus and the Cobb Salad, I love them. The presentation was great.

On arrival we were asked if it was our first time in Washington DC and when we replied it was, we were immediately upgraded. Check in was a breeze and we were astounded when we saw our "room". The bedroom was large but we also had a enormous separate lounge and dining area as well as a kitchen. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel is only a 10 minuter walk from the White House and The Mall area. Staff were very helpful with information. There is a convenience store next door and as breakfast was not included we just bought a few basic supplies and had it in our room. The restaurant was reasonable priced and the food good. Can recommend if looking for a comfortable place in easy walking distance to all the tourist sites.
