Great for sight seeing on the mall. Close to the metro and hop on hop off bus. My Mom is elderly and the proximaty really help us to see everything The staff was plesant and helpful.
Only real problem the HVAC was very loud when it was turned on. We were there when we didn't need heat or AC but it would have interfered with my sleep if we had needed it

Room Tip: ASk for the a room on the front side of the hotel as the back side just looks out onto an office bui...

We had a conference at the Capital Hilton last week (some 400 of us), and the hotel was an excellent place to hold that meeting. The conference facilities on the 2nd floor were quite sufficient, with plenty of both large & small rooms to use for different meetings. And the hotel room itself was most satisfactory. Plenty of room, large clean and well lit bathroom. The only "lack" was a minibar, more to keep things cold than for anything else, but we found plenty of ice down the hall. And the Statler bar on the first floor was vey open and accessible.

The hotel is well located just north of the White House and within easy walking distance of the Mall and the subway.

Been here two nights; two to go. Very nice hotel; close to every place I need to be. Nice large room, with 2 double beds, couch, and desk. Executive lounge OK; open for soft drinks, water most of the day 6-10. Haven't tried the evening snack hour yet. Biggest disappointment...large room, but very small bathroom. That wouldn't bother me, except that the only mirror in the room is in the bath. All our friends staying here have one or two more mirrors somewhere else in the room....does anyone know how difficult it is for two people to get ready to go anywhere with one small bath and mirror to be used one at a time??? Asked the front desk if they had a portable mirror....haven't heard a word since. I'm actually thinking of stealing the large one out in the hallway.......actually wouldn't be stealing if I just moved it in here......you think? Would be four stars, but for that....

Hair dryer not so good...need to get some with more power. Nice to have a shower cap replaced every day. Elevators get you up and down pretty quickly, though sometimes difficult to get to the upper floors requiring a key to light up. One time had to get out of elevator on a different floor and try a different elevator. Odd....two of us couldn't get the keys to work.

Room Tip: If you have more than one person, don't take room 899!

The rooms at the Captial Hilton are just very traditional standard rooms, but provide comfort, a well thought out bath room (private water closet and shower) and good lighting. Too many hotels and rentals now have such horrible lighting due to misuse of the new environmentally correct bulbs, but the lighting here is done very well. The Hilton is situated just down the road from the White House and ergo is right in the heart of DC. My only issue is things are so pricey! Two drinks with a tip at the bar are forty bucks. Same thing in NYC I know, but it is IMO a little outrageous for a lobby drink. I love it there but am afraid Hilton is pricing itself out of the everyman market and will be the realm of only the rich and famous. Breakfast in the lobby coffee shop restaurant was excellent, but too generous and too pricey. There are several really good restaurants within walking distance and I recommend PJClarkes for lunch.

Room Tip: I have stayed in various rooms over the years and cannot say I ever caught a badly situated one. May...

As part of a national conference that comprised thousands of attendees from people throughout the US and internationally, the Hilton San Francisco Union Square managed its guests and those "passing through" as they attended sessions with professionalism and kindness - a winning combination. Walkways, water stations, trash receptacles, bathrooms were always clean and well stocked (not a small point with thousands of people using these spaces) and the staff -- every person -- was helpful and professional. The room was lovely and clean, and cleaned in a timely manner, making it comfortable for me to come and go between sessions.

Say what you will about lobbyists, but their expense accounts keep the hotels in ship shape. This is a great business location, and is my first choice when in DC for work... Easy walking distance to business district. They refurbished their lobby within the last year or so and the rooms are in great shape as well. Professional courteous staff.
Also a great tourist location - around the corner from the White House, but a little expensive for my family weekends.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the front. Some of the back rooms face right into other buildings and are dark...

I've traveled to DC for business over the years and have stayed at a number of hotels. This was my first to the Capital Hilton and I was a bit surprised. Most of the DC hotels I used were very old buildings, usually pretty well renovated, but just that -- old, updated hotels. The Capital Hilton was a surprising anomaly.

The room was very well appointed, no indication of a makeover in any way. The bed was extremely comfortable, everything worked. My only issue was the valet parking. We were there for two days and when I checked in, I was told $40 to park. Never once did I assume it was the daily rate! Public garage a block away was $15 a day, had I known, well.... not a chance I would have done the valet thing.

Very nice place to stay when visiting DC. Metro station is only a couple blocks away so it's totally accessible to city transportation and about a 10 minute walk to the Whitehouse. Location, perfect.
