“Nice location”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

Good hotel. I stayed on business. There are lots of restaurants near by, you just get out and start walking. The White House is just a short walk away and the metro is close by. It is a very beige hotel, everything is beige! Housekeeping was excellent.

I attended an Annual Conference with several colleagues here.
What a great location, just a couple of blocks away from the White House, and within the I called it 'walking' district of the city, you can just go everywhere walking from this hotel.
We were offered a $30 internet and lounge access per room which we found very accessible and convenient. Lounge had breakfast, and happy hour.
I will definitively come back to this hotel on vacation with the family.

Room Tip: Ask for a view to the white house

Room was nice. Felt a little warm, so adjusted thermostat down. Adjusted it several times, all the way doen to 62, but the room just got hotter. Woke up from the heat in the wee hours but did not want to deal with moving rooms or service person in the middle of the night. Ate at the bar. Good turkey burger, but they compeltely forgot my order of onion rings and when they did come, they were terrible.

My overall experience was good but please see below. Be preepaired to eat someplace else. Very expensive hotel resturant. I realize this is Washington DC, but 2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns toast and coffee should not cost $24.95 for one person. I stayed in this hotel 5 nights and could have easily ate breakfast here each morning. The cost of Breakfast alone could keep me from booking at this hotel again. I could have easily spent $100.00 not including a tip just for breakfast. I was forced to seek other places for breakfast just because of this.

We booked the hotel in 2 parts as the weekend pricing was not offered to conference attendees. The weekend pricing was $119/night and conference pricing was $245/night. Other than having to check in and check out 2x I have nothing negative to say about this hotel.
Check in was very smooth. We were offered $30/night option that included wifi, breakfast and happy hour. Breakfast: Continental with scrambled eggs. The specialty coffee maker was a nice perk. Happy Hour: Finger foods and wine offered for $3/glass.
Room1: 2 queen beds, very comfortable. Corner unit with lots of space but noisy at night as the sounds from K street ran through the room as if the windows were open. We asked to be moved after the 2nd night, the room was smaller but the noise from the street went away completely.
Conference Food: Adequate but the oatmeal could use a make over...it was ok but I've had better. Otherwise everything was very delicious.
Bell Men and Concierge: very very helpful and nice to talk to.
Location: This is a great location. Walking distance from the museums, white house, monuments and we even walked back from Georgetown University.
I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from K Street and stay away from the corner units.

I stayed here in mid-February for a conference that was also held at the hotel. My wife came along and we enjoyed a couple of days on the town before the conference began. The service here was fantastic. The staff always greeted us with a smile and a "hello". The Metro was easy to get to for a day of sightseeing at the Smithsonian. Great restaurants in the immediate area.

I am giving this hotel 5 stars because of one guy - Frank Poku, otherwise I would have given it four stars. I have stayed at this hotel on business before and really liked it. It is a traditional and classic hotel with a very DC feel. It makes you imagine Congressfolk sitting in the dining room and sipping scotch. The hotel is elegant without being showy and the bar is simple. This is not a flashy joint, so if you are looking for action, stay at the W.

They used to have an executive lounge on the 10th floor, but they have since moved that to the first floor. That is very nice and a HUGE improvement from what it was before. You can upgrade for access for a very low price and this will get you breakfast and snacks in the evening. You can also pick up the paper, use their workstations and get coffee and tea.

My husband and I stayed in DC a couple weekends ago, for our anniversary. As always, the services is outstanding from the valet to the housekeeping. We were treated so warmly and Frank checked us in. He also remembered us coming to and from dinner and checked in to make sure everything was good. He offered to help us with restaurants and even bought us a glass of wine to help us celebrate. This is the kind of personalized service that keeps people coming back and one of the reasons I choose to keep my loyalty with Hilton.

Yes - there are plenty of great, cool and fantastic hotels in DC, but this Hilton is consistent, charming and I keep coming back for the people.

Why would I only give it four instead of 5, if it wasn't for Frank. Well, one of the main reasons is the price of parking and the time for valet. You have to request your car anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes. Clearly not an efficient model - This is not normally the time it ends up taking, but that is a lot of planning to have to worry about, just to leave. Also, it costs almost $50 for that snail pace valet service. I have stayed in hotels in Manhattan and San Francisco recently that were a little more than half that price. Plan Accordingly!

Location wise, this place is close to the Metro and only 2 blocks from the White House. There are not as many cool bars and restaurants within a 2 block radius as you may want, so you will have to walk a few blocks. Don't get me wrong, there are places close by, but you have to walk a little bit or hop on the metro if you want a "jumping" neighborhood.

The price of a room at this hotel varies, depending on occupancy. Like every other hotel in the world, the price depends on demand. I have stayed here for $350 a night and $125, for the same standard room. It just depends on what is going on in the city, but it is a great place. I would recommend it to anyone and ask for Frank!

Room Tip: Corner rooms are fantastic and they have a new executive lounge which is very nice.
