“Nice Hotel, worth a stay”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

The hotel is located in the center of DC, near the white house. Idel location for exploring the city, both north and south of K St.

Rooms are ok, clean, nice. They would also do in a Hilton Garden Inn, but as I said, they do.
Executive Lounge is not as impressive as the one in the Hilton Berlin and not as comfy as the one in the Hilton Malta. But it's nice, spacy, has everything you would expect of it.The food selection is a bit small considering you're in a city like DC.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. In-Room Wifi is free if you're a HHonors Member.

The Capital Hilton was by far the best hotel I've stayed in DC. I highly recommend anyone from out of town (or anyone returning home) to consider staying here. I didn't rent a vehicle during my stay, so accessing the Metro was my main priority when looking for accommodations. The Capital Hilton is conveniently located within 2 blocks of 2 Metro stations.

Great hotel central to anything and everything. With 2 kids under 5 this is the place to stay for convenient access to site seeing locations. The food is of high quality and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Stayed here last week. Hotel was spotless, bathroom was immaculate. It was close to tourist attractions and my client. I would recommend and stay here again. Had breakfast in their restaurant it was a little pricey but the staff were extremely friendly.

The Club lounge is rather spartan and does not really dazzle. Beverages were either warm, had an off taste, or were too limited. Snacks were limited as well and overall quality of food selection was not what you should expect for such a cosmopolitan area like Washington D.C.

The hotel room was spacious, clean and centrally located around the tourist sites and a lot of restaurants. The hotel restaurant is very pricey. The room did have a coffee maker and in room safe but does not have a microwave or refrigerator that most Hilton's have. In addition there is no free in room wifi which comes standard with most Hilton's if you are a HHonor member. It is free if you are in the higher tiers with their programs and there is free wifi in the lobby as well as access to computers in the business area. For all tier levels you have the use of a very nice fitness facility co-located with the hotel. The staff was nice and helpful.

It seemed to be an older hotel than I would have thought, that said Hilton has done what they can to keep it updated. We had booked a Executive King for five nights and got upgraded to a Jr. Suite by using Hiltons upgrade if available program (i.e. agree to pay a little extra for an upgrade if it is available when you check in).

The Good
• Hilton style rooms with newer beds, bedding, carpeting and the usual Hilton amenities like the Hilton alarm clock.

• The check in was speedy, and done by a very friendly and welcoming desk agent.

• Location is about as good as you can get for rooms in this price category.

The Bad
• The Bell Desk. We arrived tired and by cab. A valet greeted the cab, asked if we wanted our bags brought in and we said we did. He brought them to the check-in lane and left. The check in person never asked about bags and only after pulling our bags through the rest of the large lobby did we see the Bell Desk at the very back of the hotel near the elevators. At that point we were 10 feet from the elevators so it would have been silly to ask for help, and with two bored looking workers at the desk no help was offered anyway. During the entire five day stay we walked past the Bell Desk several times and never saw them taking bags to or from the room, they only seemed to manage the bag check room for early and late check-outs. What good is a Bell Desk several hundred feet from the portico?

• Typical of older hotels the rooms seemed small. Even the Jr. Suite was smaller than what you might get at a newer Hilton or even a Hampton Inn, and it was definitely small for a suite. The bathroom was also very tiny, although it had been updated with a nice marble shower. Also like older hotels much of the hallway noise carries into your room. Even with Hilton positing signs at the elevators saying 10 PM is quiet time, few guest must see it, because you could hear practically all guest. As a Hilton Honors member I have in my profile rooms away from the elevator. This is something the hotels have nearly always accommodated, but either this hotel didn’t have rooms available further away from the elevator, or they didn’t bother to see/read my preferences.

• Room service. Staying five days we would have used room service a lot, but after ordering a medium and a medium-well hamburger the first night and getting two burgers that were very rare (nearly completely pink) we didn’t eat much of that meal, and didn’t want to risk wasting more money by trying them again.

• The Executive lounge is really a bad, but it was a disappointment. First they have relocated it to the lobby floor. I had booked an executive level room hoping to be close to it, instead if we had to travel from the 12th floor to the lobby, and all the way across the lobby to get to it. The good part of that is at least no guest we showing up in their pajamas. The food was also rather disappointing. They had fountain soda available but it was very flat tasting, I tried two type incase it was just my first choice that was old, but they were both flat. The breakfast food was slightly below average too. Not very inspired or tasty food.
