We just returned from our visit to Washington, D.C. (July 29-August1) and we stayed at the Carlyle Suites Hotel due to the high recommendations it received and the good price we were able to get. The hotel was in an excellent location for our purposes. We could have taken the nearby Metro but due to the excessive heat and my 82 year old father-in-law accompanying us we drove most places. There are a small number of parking spots directly behind the hotel for free but they were never available. We were, however, always able to find street parking mindful of the parking restrictions. I understand that tickets are issued freely so we always made sure that we moved our car when needed. We had a king suite. Our 19 year old son slept on the sofa bed. He complained about it as did my husband about our mattress. It was not firm. The only other complaint I had was that we weren't left enough towels so I had to ask the maids for them every day. The last day we never received bath towels. A call to the desk solved that problem quickly. The staff seemed eager to help us. They gave out bottles of water at all times which were greatly appreciated. I booked the room from one of the websites that popped up and it had rooms available while the hotel itself did not. People say some times to call the hotel itself and see if you can get a better price but in this case the hotel had no rooms available and the website did. We also ate breakfast there two mornings. You can eat all you want for $11.95. It's not cheap but the price wasn't bad for a hotel and there was a nice but not an enormous selection including someone making any kind of eggs you want and waffles. If i could get a good price again, I would definitely stay there.
