The guest bedrooms at Lyle are comfortable and calming in neutral colors and feature natural materials including Burl wood art deco headboards, rattan seating and berber carpets. The mattresses and linens were chosen for ultimate comfort while artwork and the majority of furnishings are bespoke. The rooms feel inviting and residential, as do the bright bathrooms with their handmade tiles.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pros: Lovely decor, clean, good location close to many restaurants and sightseeing sites, friendly staff specially valets. Decent menu and prices at the restaurant. Cons: No sitting area in lobby. A little noisy at times but it's a busy hotel...

Hotel's Favourite
My family and I visited DC for a long weekend to celebrate my mother-in-law. Our stay at the Lyle was nothing short of amazing. JOHNNY, the concierge, was the BEST! He treated my family like royalty. The hotel, restaurant and valet were 5 star. Johnny went above and beyond to make my kids and my handicap mother-in-law happy. The rooms were spacious and this was the only hotel to guarantee joined rooms. The food, drinks and Marcus at the restaurant did not disappoint. Thank you for a great experience. JOHNNY, YOU'RE AWESOME!

Response from Lyle Washington DC, Owner at Lyle Washington DC
Responded 11 Oct 2022
Dear 553kindrar, I think we should make this our mojo: Leave Lyle with a Smile! Thank you so much for your kind words. I hope that you give us the honor of being able to take care of you and your family again in the future. Johnny certainly hears "you're awesome" multiple times a day, but another one doesn't hurt :) Until next time, Irene Interiano. Asst. Front Office Manager.

We loved this hotel and will definitely be back! It was cozy, comfortable and it a quiet neighborhood. The rooms were clean and spacious. Walkable to many sites, 10-minute walk to DuPont Metro stop or a short Uber ride.

We stayed three nights for a pleasure trip in D.C. The Lyle misadventure began at check in when we were assigned a room that was not what we had reserved and pre-paid at a rate of $330 per night. At that point we were forced to negotiate with the front desk showing our printed reservation confirmation and pulling up the photo of the reserved room on my iphone. The good news is that once properly checked in we found the room to be very clean and comfortable. Then, after spending our third day touring the City we returned at 5:00PM to find our room had not been serviced forcing us to spend an hour waiting in the lobby while housekeeping cleaned the room. No explanation just a"sorry for the inconvenience" was given. And then comes the real horror hotel experience, the food and restaurant/bar. We had four meals, one dinner in the restaurant, one burger off the bar menu, brunch in the restaurant and finally room service. This food services operation of the Lyle treats hotel guests second and primarily caters to outside customers first. Getting a seat in the restaurant was a battle each time even with reservations made in advance. The noise levels in the bar and restaurant are insanely loud to the point of needing to scream just to hear each other. The bar was a loud drunken party every night. As bad as all that was it was the food that was the worst part of all. Every meal (with the exception of getting a Caesar salad from room service) ranged from tasteless to inedible. We are world travelers and understand any restaurant can have a bad night but this badness is the norm at the Lyle. The final cut was at checkout when we saw for the first time we were being charged a nightly "hotel fee" of $28.00. This never disclosed fee we were told was to pay for the wi-fi, the nespresso coffee machine and two 12oz bottles of water per day. Again we know about "resort fees" at hotels but never have we experienced not being told about them until checkout. Do not stay at the Lyle , ever.

I have two meetings in DC every year - one in the Spring and one in the Fall. I always stay at the Lyle. The hotel itself is old school beautiful. The rooms are well furnished and spacious for an older hotel. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. For the last meeting, we had to switch venues to the Lyle and their staff, especially the tech support, was great. The bar is a great place to hang out after a day of meetings. I highly recommend any of the specialty drinks and the brussel sprouts.

Very nice staff and rooms in a great area. Within walking distance to many restaurants and the Phillips Collection (a must see art museum in what was a private residence). This was my second time staying at the Lyle and will stay there again when in town. All of the staff is very accommodating especially the manager, Kenny. Thanks for a great stay!

Took the whole family for a week during Presidents Day Holiday and it was an absolute 10. The staff was incredible, DC was blast. Highly recommend the Lyle Crocodile upgrade with the teepee for the kiddos, etc. Room was great, breakfast was amazing. Room service and valet were pricey but overall was very fairly priced. Will absolutely return.

This was a repeat visit for me to The Lyle, Washington DC, and it was terrific. We secured a two-bedroom with kitchenette. It was spacious, well-appointed and clean. The beds are so comfortable and the in-room robes are a special touch. Every interaction we had with staff was pleasant -- from the valet to the bellman to the front desk to housekeeping. Family joined us for dinner in the lobby bar one night and we enjoyed lite bites and entrees, as well as tasty beverages (the Bee's Knees was to die for!) The ambience was comfortable and appealing. The hotel location is a plus -- near DuPont Circle, but a bit removed from the noise, convenient but tranquil. We will certainly return!
