We really enjoyed our 5 day stay in Washington and this hotel helped make it fun. Only complaint, no bathtub. Someone could fix the kitchen cupboards so there is a drawer. The neighborhood is lovely with lots of restaurants. After a long day of sightseeing it was fun to spend some time in the bar. great margaritas. The staff were always ready to make recommendations and give directions.

My 90-year old mother and I were in DC to visit my son and the museums. We loved this distinctive and lovely hotel. We had a nice lunch and cocktail at the restaurant. The room was great; as some have mentioned the bathroom is small, but it has an outer mirrored space as well for cosmetics, toiletries, and whatever. If you are depending on cabs, you may want to leave a little time. Usually we got one promptly but it is a somewhat quiet street so there may be a little wait.

What a fab location! We couldn't really fault this hotel! We had a comfortable stay! If you are looking for a great hotel in an upbeat neighbourhood then I can recommend the Carlyle! It's a very safe area with lots of eating places and shops within a short walking distance! As well as the Metro very accessible too!

This art deco hotel is very cool. Our stay was made all the more pleasurable by professionalism and excellent service provided by Abu (the main concierge). We stayed for 3 nights in September 2013. The location of the hotel is good, being close to the metro, the zoo and walking distance (20 mins) of the National mall, The White house etc.. The rooms vary in size but we were very happy with ours, with plenty of room for our 1 yo son to crawl around. The area is safe and there are a reasonable number of restaurants etc. within walking distance. It is well worth having breakfast at the hotel. There are a range of choices, with excellent service. We would definately stay at the Carlyle suites again.

We travel to D.C. from Alaska quite often and unless someone else is paying for our hotel room and FORCES us to stay elsewhere, we always stay at the Carlyle. It's beautiful location on New Hampshire Ave. is in a residential area of DuPont Circle surrounded by incredible trees, lovely old homes and historic apartment buildings. The art-deco Carlyle is a former apartment building so each room has a kitchenette and good sized windows. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the housekeepers are ace. A few blocks from the metro stations, the walk through the beautiful neighborhood offers a welcome start and end to our hustling days in D.C. Beyond the wonderful rooms, the Carlyle team is amazing. Everyone on the front desk strives to make your experience at the Carlyle exceptional and they have NEVER missed with us. We often travel with associates and the feedback we receive from them regarding their stay here is always the same - they simply love it! If you're into a quiet stay in DC, this is the place. Plus there's an awesome dog park half a block up New Hampshire which offers plenty of free evening entertainment. Perfect!

Room Tip: Rooms away from the front of the hotel are super quiet.

Hello verymary,
I am so glad to see the title of your review “Our Favorite Home Away From Home”, this is how we want all of our guests to feel. After a long day of work or sight seeing, everyone deserves an "ouf " walking into the doors just like we all do when we get home after a long day! I agree, the Carlyle is just the place where you do not feel away from home. As you mentioned, the staff is eager to make it happen and will not miss you!
Thank you for sharing these wonderful comments with others, and we shall definitely see you again!

It was the perfect base for our short but sweet stay in Washington, only 15 mins walk from the amazing restaurants and bars of 14th street at night, and 15 mins to the White House to commence our sightseeing by day.

Room Tip: We had room 710 - it was huge for a couple to share and to the rear of the property so very quiet.
