“The Hay Adams won't disappoint”

The only faults with the Hay Adams are the ageing rooms and lack of sound insulation which can interrupt sleep. It is stunningly positioned across from the White House (Obama stayed here for two weeks prior to his inauguration) and the service is the best I have encountered in the USA. Room pricing is quite competitive and Breakfast in the hotel restaurant is also a treat (try the fresh berries and Belgian waffle).

We chose to spend New Years Eve and our anniversary at this hotel and what a magnificent experience. The hotel is beauiful and wonderfully appointed. The staff is amazingly friendly and attentive to all of our needs and then some (At the restuarant which was excellent but pricey, they asked if I wanted a dark cloth napkin since a white cloth may leave white fibers on my dark slacks). Our room was the least costly with a view on the next building. The rates go up as the view inproves--of a church steeple or the White House--very expensive The bathrooms are marble covered with beautiful bass fittings. Our room had a large wonderful shower with two types of sprays--I do prefer a tub--so ask for a room with a tub if you so wish. The CD's in the room which run on the Bose system were restful. The restaurant was excellent- but pricey. The mattress was new, thick and unbelieveably comfortable--the linens of the best quality.

What a wonderful way to relax and feel indulged. If you haved themoney, this place is a treat!!

Room Tip: If you want a tub, ask for such a room. if you want a view, ask for one--it can get exoensive.

The quality justifies the expense. Although the room we had was small, it was one of two per floor with a handsome bay window--and a view to the Old Executive Office Building. The space is efficiently and elegantly designed in warm, neutral tones, and all appointments and furnishings are of high quality--down to the Asprey amenities in the bathroom. Everybody on the staff--from the doormen to the receptionist--was extremely friendly and courteous. Had there been a coffee maker in the room or machine available elsewhere (we reluctantly ordered from room service, and it was presented beautifully) and had the Bose docking station not failed to work with my iPod, the experience would have been perfect.

We had one night in town before heading out to the Maryland burbs for a wedding, and wanted to stay right in the middle of things. The Hay-Adams did not disappoint--what a great location! Service was top-notch, property is traditional and very beautiful. Room was gorgeous and while small by modern standards, I actually found it quite roomy for an urban property and for a historic hotel. Bathroom was very nice indeed--I really liked the bath products :)

Breakfast in The Lafayette, while pricey, was still quite a treat. Beautiful room and EXCELLENT service.

Would stay here again in a heartbeat; was sad we had to leave after only one night!

I chose this hotel because it is the closest to the White House and we only had 2 days to visit Washington DC. It was a real treat to stay in such a luxury hotel. Rooms were spacious, the beds were incredibly comfortable and the whole ambiance was one of elegant sophistication. The concierge Jack was a gem and helped us with restaurant reservations and an amazing 4 hour private tour of DC. I guess the highlight was stepping outside of the hotel and walking across the road to the White House gardens.

There's one hotel in Washington DC that captures everything a stay in our Capitol should be, and it's the incomparable Hay Adams Hotel. By its name it tells you of our leaders that have and do stay there, and the atmosphere reflects the care and consideration shown to the world leaders that have come and gone from here.

Do you want some of the best food in DC? Do you also want a varied menu with artistic presentation yet comfortable to eat?

Do you like a small hotel, intimate, a staff that treats each guest as a VIP but is respectful of your privacy? Do you long to have your coffee/tea and breakfast in a restaurant with shafts of sunlight coming into the room that sets you up for the best of days?

The Hay Adams has all this!

Do you want to have a cocktail or small supper available when you don't feel like "going out?" This hotel has a low lite room fitting your needs and it also is a place to meet and greet when that feels right.

Your room or suite envelops you with luxury and warmth, the services are immediate and discreet. The hotel's elegant simplicity calms and centers the busiest traveler. Picture a small wood paneled lobby with comfy chairs and a huge bouquet on a table to greet you. You're there and yet home.

Speaking of home, our national home, the White House, can be viewed from many of the rooms. The Hay Adams is the ultimate location. On the top floor is a dining room used for holidays and special occasions. From there is the most magnificent sight ... the White House is almost your next-door neighbor, all lit up at night with the Washington monument directly behind.

Do treat yourself to this hotel. You'll remember the experience for the rest of your life!

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent. Corner suites are large and sunny if you want to entertain or spread out.

Visited the city of my youth to stay in a hotel that always looked great from the street, turns out it is great thru and thru or is that through and through, how some ever it is spelled it is that. Historic as much of DC is, you couldn't be more centrally located to all the attractions that Washingtom has to offer. Lovely lobby, a great bar one flight down, Off The Record, rooms very comfortable and many of them afford a stunning view of the President's residence. I can't wait to return.
