My wife, toddler and I stayed for several days to attend a wedding. The entrance to the hotel was heavily staffed, which lent an impression of luxury. However the back-end service was mediocre. They took an hour to bring a package up to my room, while my in-laws down the hall had a similar experience.
The (casual) restaurant in the basement also had so-so service. We had to ask repeatedly to get our water refilled and have the plates cleared.
Yes the hotel is beautiful, historic, and a well situated. But for the astronomical cost, it'd be great if the staff didn't seem like they were coasting. More
