We returned after almost 30 years. Very traditional style as we expected. Room very comfortable, bathroom modest size wise . Amenities classy. Gym very good . Business centre excellent
Greeted on arrival with an offer to have a park view at an extra 200 bucks a night. Demurred immediately dropped to 150!!! all a bit tacky and detracted from the classy proposition.
Mark the Concierge was excellent but generally the rest of the staff were dour and not very friendly . Maybe it's different for their regulars! Glad we have been again..location can't be beaten!

Room Tip: Inside rooms are fine if you are spending all day out sightseeing

I can't think of anything this hotel could do better, it was wonderful from start to finish. We had an amazing suite overlooking the White House, which was furnished in a quite a classical style, but very well maintained and elegant. The staff were very helpful without being intrusive. The concierge made a couple of good restaurant recommendations and gave us some good sightseeing tips. We didn't eat in the hotel because we were out and about, though did try the gym, which was on the small side, but had everything for a basic workout.
I would definitely stay here again.

What an amazing hotel! Dignified and simply beautiful!

Even before we arrived I had a feeling this hotel was going to be special! I had spoken with Francisca at concierge to assist with some pre arrival details and pick up - her service and happy persoanlity was apprecaited!

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and check in was a breeze! My daughter LOVED the backpack full of really great Washington trinkets! The bag became our favourite for the rest of our trip too!

We loved our beautifully deocrated room with 2 double beds...plenty of space for my husabnd, daughter and I - and wonderfully comfortable beds!

We loved the restuarant and 'Off the Record' Bar - both had so much style and personality! We looked forward every morning to seeing Giovani's happy face - such genuine service and lovely man - our daughter even shed a tear when we said good bye to Giovani on our last morning!

The special evening meals in the main restuarant were tremendous! The best food we ate throughout our trip around the US, and coupled with the special service and amazing pianist we were hooked! Absolutely magnificent!

There is simply no better view of the White House, and the location was just perfect to see all the sights of Washington DC.

We would stay here again in a heartbeat! A truly wonderful stay!

The Hay-Adams is a beautifully preserved historic hotel. The turn down service in the evening makes you feel a little spoiled - and that is great for a busy mom! We had a small issue, and the manager was quick to respond. The accommodations and service can't be beat.

The Hay Adams Hotel is a landmark is Washington DC. The ninth floor has a lovely view of the White House, the EEOB and other executive branch buildings. Across the street is Lafayette Park and its enchanting landscaping. The interior of the hotel is wonderfully traditional without excess. Service is impeccable, courteous, and thoughtful. It is baffling why most other hotels don't use this model for training of personnel. A light drizzle, and an umbrella is handed to you for a stroll. A faulty air conditioner and the evening turn down service person asks permission to call from your room for a maintenance person, whio arrives within two minutes. Rooms are immaculately appointed with easy light switches, wall plugs, easiest-to-use safe for valuables I've seen in any hotel room, and ample towels, pillows and divinely comfortable bed. By any measure, this hotel merits a five, but the rooms and bathrooms are so small that two people can barely squeeze around corners, our reservation for a king size bed was instead a queen sized bed, and the HVAC controls are not user-friendly. Room for improvement.

Room Tip: Ask about room size. A quiet room tucked in a corner of a hallway is optimal.

Dear lilacroller,

Thank you for your great review of your recent stay with us! Our team strives to provide those personal touches for each and every guest to ensure they feel well taken care of – I am pleased to hear that you had such excellent interactions with everyone! We are an historic hotel and we do try to preserve much of the history of The Hay-Adams throughout the property, hence why our bathrooms are a bit smaller. However, I do appreciate your candid feedback regarding your room and will share it with the appropriate individuals. Looking forward to serving you again soon.

Sincerely,

Hans Bruland
