“Beautiful Hotel with a Great Staff”
Reviewed 16 August 2011

My Fiancé and I spent a weekend at The Jefferson in DC during August. The Hotel has been beautifully renovated while still maintaining some of the great classic features. The room was clean and chic. The really fabulous thing about the hotel was the staff. We became engaged while at the hotel, and the whole staff made sure to make our evening extra special! They called the restaurant we were going to (a greek place called Kelari) to let them know we were coming and make sure they took great care of us! The dinner was great at Kelari, and when we returned, Nora, from the front desk, had a lovely note and surprise waiting for us! Also, the breakfast here is gorgeous, loved the lemon ricotta pancakes! This hotel is beautiful with a great caring staff.

Well, that's not all they have, but if you are a fan of the kind of water pressure that you need to hold onto something so you don't get blown away, then this is your place.

We have stayed in DC on numerous occasions, and now even more so that our son is attending one of the Universities. We decided to try this old luxe hotel because we had heard that it was completely renovated.
The rooms were tastefully decorated (we stayed in a small suite) and extremely comfortable. The linens were soft and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathrooms were ultra modern and I can honestly say that my room contained the single best shower in a hotel room that I have ever experienced (and I stay at alot of luxury hotels).
The service was accomodating but we had a couple of misses. If they ever married the Ritz, then you wouldn't be able to book a room here because it would be sold out. I am sure that this was a one-off and if it wasn't, I am hopeful that it will catch up.
The service in the bar downstairs was superb (first class) and the bar itself was cozy inside and they also had a brilliant little patio outside. The wine list was outstanding, and I think this was a function of the fact that they have a top notch restaurant at the hotel (which we were unable to book because they weren't open).
Overall, a definite must stay and you have to try it for yourself. We cannot wait to return.

July is a tough month to be in D.C, weather-wise, but my stay at the Jefferson was so perfect, I almost didn't mind the awful heat outside. From the second I walked through the doors of the lobby, I felt welcome. The feeling continued as I went up to my room and found a bottle of chilled water and a bowl of cherries waiting for me. The room was small but very well appointed. The bathroom was lovely. Good size shower, well lit for makeup. Will stay again, takes first place for my list of prefered D.C. hotels over my previous favorite of Park Hyatt..

Every detail of the hotel was beautifully restored and elegant. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive. It was a luxurious weekend at every level. Additionally, the food at the restaurant was delicious and the Sunday morning brunch was also outstanding.

Overall, I would definitely stay at this hotel again. We truly enjoyed our stay! It is a wonderful hotel for a pampered getaway!

An impeccable small hotel, just like it was back in its heyday many years ago. Room not huge, but not tiny either. Fabulous bathroom, bed, linens. Great - and practical - working desk. Location ideal - still a close walk to downtown, but close to bars/restaurants that buzz at night.

Only nit was an excess of hallway noise, but understand, this is like criticizing a picasso because he put on too much red paint in the upper left corner - even if true, it sort of misses the point.

Significantly nicer than the Hay-Adams, stayed at earlier in same week.
