My wife spent many hours researching potential hotels in Washington, D.C. where we might stay during the Christmas holidays (24th-27th). She chose The Jefferson - and we were both so happy with every aspect of our stay.
Our room was absolutely beautiful and we had a great view of the Washington Monument from our bedroom window. Christmas Eve dinner at Plume was outstanding - from the meal itself, to the service and to the incredible ambiance created by the beautiful Christmas decorations. All of the staff went out of their way to make our stay a special one and we so appreciate their treating us as though we were "family."
We look forward to many more stays at The Jefferson when we want to visit nearby family -- or just for a special getaway vacation!

Richard E.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that provides a view of the Washington Monument.

Very fine, and expensive, hotel in a great location. The lobby and rooms are small, but the room had good size closet and bathroom with a great shower. No bathtub. Bose alarm radio with iPod connection, nice TV with cable, no movie channels - they sell those to you, closet safe, high quality mattress, nice desk - but with chair is too close to bed. Has a TV inside the bathroom mirror, which I have never seen before. Fascinating but distracting. Service was excellent - probably the place's best feature. The hotel has a limo that took us to the theatre - after the tip probably the same cost as a cab, but very elegant.

Dear Mark M,

Thank you for choosing The Jefferson during your recent stay in Washington, DC. I am glad that you were able to utilize the hotel’s complimentary car service on your way to the theater and that the hotel’s location met your expectations. I will relay your comment about the desk chair being too close to the bed to our Director of Housekeeping; perhaps we can find a better way to configure that room.

I do hope that you have a great holiday season and we look forward to welcoming you back!

Sincerely,

Being a guest years ago, I was very disappointed in the renovation changes. The rooms now are so cramped. I actually had to upgrade our room 2 steps up to feel like we weren't sleeping in a closet. The gracious lounge area is now small claustrophobic halls and cubicles. The warm bar/lounge area is now a thing of the past. Wish I had stayed at the Willard instead with all it's festive and gracious spaces and warm Christmas decorations. Won't be back.

Room Tip: Do not book a queen room unless you are a sardine.

Dear Lynn W,

While I was happy that you revisited The Jefferson since our 2009 renovation, I was disappointed to read that the changes and improvements that were made to the hotel no longer meet your expectations. Significant changes were made to all of our guest rooms and our public spaces when the hotel was essentially gutted in 2007.

Although our rooms did not meet your requirements, I do hope that our staff was able to make your stay more enjoyable.

Have a very happy holiday season!

Sincerely,

This hotel is remarkable. Its size, service and understated elegance is one of a kind. It is to Washington DC what the Ritz is to Paris or Claridges is to London. Remarkable rooms, bars and restaurants.

This was a great place to stay for a special event. The rooms and service were outstanding. The location is great, too. Everything was perfect. Although we didn't eat dinner in the Plume, the menu looked great. We did enjoy the Quill, and breakfast.

After just four nights we didn't want to leave, wishing we could just live there for the rest of our lives. It's beautiful, elegant and comfy, with no stone left unturned and just 4 blocks to the White House and national mall. We ate at their great restaurant (The Plume), but the hotel is within walking distance of other great places like The Blue Duck Tavern and Founding Farmers and about a 20 minute walk to exquisite Georgetown.
The mostly young staff members are efficient, knowledgeable and eager to please--absolutely professional. A highlight was the incredibly luxurious bar with great bartenders and servers bringing perfect refreshments in an ambience that "reeks of class". Biggest thrill here was the piano man, Peter Robinson, whose evocative and brilliant renditions of standards old and new warmed the little cockles of our hearts as we joyfully sang along--so much fun!
Thanks to everyone at the Jefferson, from the doormen to the maids and all in between, we'll be back. Highly recommended.

This is our favorite hotel in DC where I go at least 6 times a year and have frequented many other 5 star hotels. The service is beyond anything you will find in most U.S hotels. The rooms are small but exquisitly appointed. Everything has a price at the Jefferson but having your shirts and pants pressed and brought back to you in 45 minutes is something to be happy about, the lunch at the greenhouse is lovely with even a special cushion provided for women's pocketbooks . Truly a class act .
