We just returned from our long weekend wedding/honeymoon at The Jefferson, and we couldn't be more pleased! The events coordinator was so helpful and understanding; the room was beyond comfortable, as well as updated; the food was wonderful; and the staff was superb. It was exactly what we wanted.

The Book Room gave our small ceremony an elegant backdrop without being stuffy. It was followed by lunch in the Private Cellar which was a perfect continuance of the casual elegance we found throughout the hotel. Being rather obnoxious foodies, Don & I were able to incorporate our own ideas and plate presentation with wonderful menu ideas and wine pairings from the talented kitchen staff. It really was the day we had hoped for.

After the wedding, we received congratulations from each of the hotel staff we encountered for the duration of our stay - an unexpected personal touch.

Our only regret was the lack of opportunity to dine at Plume. The schedule of arrivals and departures of our guests over the weekend gave us only Sunday night to ourselves, and Plume isn't available on Sunday. But Quill was relaxing for an afternoon drink, and The Greenhouse was a convenient and abundant breakfast spot.

Thank you so much for your part in creating a great memory! It was tough to leave, but we will definitely be back.

We stayed here last week and what an amazing experience. The staff and service are excellent, the attention we received was great and they met our needs. The hotel is very classy and our suite was beautiful and spacious, the bathroom is just AWESOME!! As an added bonus we used the hotel car to drive us to the Kennedy Center and the driver was courteous and friendly. I love this hotel and we will definitely be back when in D.C.

We hosted family and friends in town for our wedding over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. The staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming to our guests. They helped out with last minute details, entertained us in their beautiful bar area, and arranged for us to have a special farewell reception in their book room to close out the weekend. Our guests were impressed with rooms, the decor, and location - they felt they had a true DC experience. Thanks so much for being part of a truly great and memorable weekend for us-

We are just about to check out from our quick 1 day stay, visiting one of our children who lives/works in DC. We were offered a reasonably priced upgrade to a suite before arrival and took it. Of all of the "luxury" hotels in which we have stayed throughout the US this will be one of our favorites. The accommodations (and their amenities) were superb. The service from every single employee was genuine and friendly. The overall cost (though perhaps high for some) was a great value. The location is fantastic. We WILL return here on every future trip to DC. dps

It is always easy to criticise and 'things' can always be better but with the Jefferson just three comments, at this time I've forgotten the third, that's how 'bad' it was! The Plume restaurant did not offer 'a la carte', the fare looked wonderful but all that was on offer was a 'prix-fixe'. Over the years I've seen this description many times and usually for budget priced lunches, (there is a restaurant in Soho London that I use often and it is named "Prix-fixe" lovely lunches for a set £10.90 GBP) Check it out, type in 'pix-fixe' in a web search and I lived in the South of France for six years never found a prix-fixe at a high $95USD and I really didn't want six courses! The second, although an excellent bar, the seats without arms were just not comfortable to be 'lounging' in. I still can't remember the third. Overall this hotel and the staff is excellent. A must stay in DC.

Dear percy,

Thank you for taking the time to post about your recent stay at The Jefferson. Plume, our fine dining restaurant has always been structured as either a prix fixe or a full tasting menu, but Quill does offer al a carte items. I apologize that the bar stools were not as comfortable as you had expected them to be, but glad to hear that your overall experience was so positive and that you received excellent service from our staff.

We look forward to welcoming you back!

Location of this hotel is excellent for seeing the major sites of Washington DC and the building does have great character being built in 1923. The hotel was renovated in the last 5 years, and the suite was quite spacious, but the bed is horrible. About as comfortable as a bed from 1923. Quill, the hotel bar, was lively at night but might of had something to do with the time of year. It looked like a lot of late corporate Christmas parties. Also, the food at the hotel's multiple restaurants comes out of one kitchen, so it's pretty much the same across the board and really isn't anything special. The one thing to beware of is the terrible concierge. If you are looking to get a recommendation for a restaurant, trust me, use the reviews on Trip Advisor, it will do a much better job of making suggestions. We left every restaurant they booked for us completely disappointed and found their knowledge of local attractions was pitiful. Overall, comparing the price of a suite ($779 per night + 14% tax) with what you got, I would say it's acceptable, but not great.

Dear GlobalLuxuryTravel,

I appreciate you taking the time to comment about your recent stay with us. While I am happy to read that you enjoyed our location and found it convenient, I was disappointed to read that there were elements of your stay that did not meet your expectations. I apologize that you found our beds to be uncomfortable as they are all rather new. I was also disappointed to read that you did not find our menus to be special. We do have different menus for all of our outlets and while some of the dishes are similar in multiple outlets, due to the fact that we are a small, 96 room property and do have a smaller kitchen than other properties, most of the dishes are unique to each. I will be sure to follow up with the concierge team regarding their restaurant recommendations.

I do hope that if you are in Washington, DC again, you will give us another chance to exceed your expectations.

Sincerely,

This property and accommodations rival any luxury hotel anywhere and it beats it. Why? Welcoming service, historic charm and modern technology. From the understated exterior, on to the room we stayed in, we experienced refinement not stuffiness, just elegance and impeccable appointments with manners. The international staff is most welcoming with a friendly smile and hospitality at the ready. Loved the location, loved the amenities. I would highly recommend it to the discerning traveler looking for charm, comfort, cleanliness, elegance, luxury and location equipped with all the required modern touches and a pleasant genuine smile and hospitable service from its staff.
