Wonderful hotel. Well located and good service. The highlight of our visit was Aaron, the Hotel historian. We had stayed here before but never realized the emphasis the restoration put on Thomas Jefferson. He gave us a fabulous talk on Jefferson and then took us on a tour and pointed out all of the Jefferson aspects including many originally Jefferson signed documents; the parallels to Monticello; and other items too numerous to mention. He was terrific.

Dear arnold f,

Wonderful! I am so pleased to read that you were able to spend part of Saturday morning meeting with Aaron, our in house historian. It sounds like you learned a lot about the property and our connection to our namesake. I will be sure to pass along your kind words to Aaron.

We do hope you will visit us again should you return to DC.

Sincerely,

From check-in to check-out the service and quality of everything was outstanding. Check in was quick and professional yet friendly. Our room was spacious and well appointed and the bed was luxurious. The room has everything you could need (safe, hairdryer, phone charger, internet, generous sized toiletries, morning paper and every other luxury you could need) Our room did not have much of a view being on the backside of the building, but it was very quiet. Rooms with the nicer views likely have the noise of the busy street.

We had a drink in the bar before dinner (the bartender is welcoming and creative) and then a fantastic dinner at the Plume Restaurant. Drinks in the bar are a bit pricey, but they serve nuts and a selection of olives as nibbles. Don't fill up on the treats though if you are headed to dinner at Plume. The fix priced 3 course dinner includes lots of little extras. I couldn't even finish my dessert which is not at all like me! After dinner they had live music in the bar.

For good food, fun drinks, luxurious accommodations and a bit of history all within walking distance of many of Washington's finest sights, The Jefferson is the place to go!

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are quieter, but lack a view.

What a beautiful boutique hotel filled with surprises. We stayed for three nights with our three children in a suite and found it very comfortable. Large walk in closet was nice. Beautiful furnishings and appointments throughout the hotel. We spent a rainy afternoon in the library and it had quite a collection of books along with a fireplace. We ate breakfast and lunch in both restaurants and enjoyed all of our meals. Everything was delicious and presented so elegantly. It is 4 blocks from the White house and we generally walked to most sites in DC ( including the mall) and took a taxi back. The hotel staff was very nice, professional and accommodating to our children. They offer coffee and little muffins in the morning if you wanted to get an early start and they were so yummy. Although it was spring break this hotel never felt busy or rushed. We had lunch at the St Regis further down the street and that hotel, while beautiful felt very hectic and crowded although it was considerably larger. Will definitely stay at the Jefferson again when we are in DC.

We stayed one night at the Jefferson to celebrate my wife's birthday and Mothers Day. While the overall experience was very nice, there were some detail and execution lacking from a true 5-star experience.

First the positives:
From the initial greeting at the door until we left, the staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. The lobby and restaurant are very elegant and our suite was beautifully appointed. We did experience an issue with our air conditioning system that was fixed while we were at dinner.

How it could have been better:
The Jefferson sent a pre-check in questionnaire. Not only does this allow the hotel to individualize the experience, but also sets an expectation for the arriving guest. The expectations set by the questionnaire along with previous experience in similar Preferred Hotels highlighted some of the service disconnects.

As first time guests, I read online how the hotel caters to children with kids sized bath robes, milk & cookies, games, etc. I was expecting as much when the pre-check-in email asked about our daughters age, name, etc. Other than a small (very much appreciated) stuffed animal offered at check-in, there was nothing else age appropriate.

Another disappointing aspect was the suite itself. The room was nice, but small and overlooked the back alleyway. We were pleased until we visited the suite of our friends that we were dining with. On the same floor, same category, but much larger, brighter, and a spectacular view.

Lastly, the hotel wanted to know if we were celebrating any special occasions. I indicated that in addition to Mothers Day, we were also celebrating my wife's birthday. The staff did wish my wife and our friend a Happy Mothers Day, but there was nothing else to acknowledge the day/s. Having stayed at similar luxury properties, I was surprised that not more was done for the mothers especially as we had both dinner and brunch in the hotel restaurant.

As a footnote, I enrolled in the iPrefer loyalty program prior to booking and booked the suite on the hotel website using my iPrefer account. Today I received an email survey asking about how I liked the iPrefer amenities as part of my stay...

This hotel is set up to be a premier luxury property in Washington, however in my opinion the execution of details of each guests' stay is lacking. To me and my family, the true test is when we return to an area, would we choose the same hotel. In this case, we would try something different.

Room Tip: Specify the view, otherwise you may be looking into the alley behind the hotel

While the reviews were excellent, I was still overwhelmed by the attention to detail, the friendliness and the caring of the staff. With its great location and complete offerings from spa to excellent restaurant as well as a house historian, the Jefferson satisfies all your needs and more.
