First of all, the rates on the weekend make staying in DC a great deal. We were blocks from the Smithsonian Museums and the National Mall. The Metro isn't far at Federal Triangle, and the White House is at the end of the block. There is great shopping right down the street.

The staff at check in was fabulous. They told us all about the hotel and answered all out questions. We stayed enough nights with InterContinental to get free internet. That was our one concern.

Room was clean and large. Hotel was beautiful. Maid service was quick and convenient. We didn't eat in the hotel, but it is close to lots of less expensive places to dine.

We loved it! The beauty, the history, the convenience, the staff - don't question your choice to stay here.

Room Tip: Higher up have better views.

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Willard InterContinental. I am happy you found our location to be convenient. You can receive free internet for any stay in any IHG hotel no matter the number of nights as a IHG Rewards Member. I truly look forward to sharing your kind comments about our maid service with that team as often they our stars in the back scenes and are not recognized. On behalf of the entire staff, i am delighted you enjoyed the city and the hotel. Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We hope to welcome you back in the near future. We also look forward to opening our InterContinental in Memphis in the near future.

We just got home from our visit to Washington DC. This hotel delivered on all aspects. First the lobby, ballrooms and guest rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable. The location cannot be beat. The service was fantastic from the bellman, to the front desk, and the concierge. The on-property restaurants are excellent. The cafe du parc is nice place to grab a quick pastry and a coffee or a beer. Our dinner at the Occidental was romantic and delightful. The room service was prompt, and the food was really good. Close enough to walk to almost all downtown sites, and 2 blocks from the metro. We were able to get 2 queen beds in one room for our family. One added bonus was that we arrived on the red-eye fairly early in the morning. They were able give us a room for early check-in so we could catch a quick map before going out. I really impressed my family by choosing the Willard.

Company party in the ballrooms...food was delicious. Spent the night and the room was great. I really loved that there was a sitting area separate from the sleeping space. Very comfortable all around and the bed was incredible.

The 2 bars downstairs were fun and packed....people were having lots of fun...drinks were pricey as you can imagine. In the morning we wandered into the café for coffee and it was delicious as were the pastries and fresh fruit.

The Red Door Spa is on the 2nd floor and we walked by it a few times as was the fitness center.

Thank you for your positive feedback and for choosing to stay at the Willard. It’s nice to have a night out in the city every now and then and I am glad that we made it worthwhile. Banquet food is not just banquet food when prepared by a highly skilled team of culinary experts who pride themselves with each dish they send out of their kitchen. I may be partially biased, but do believe we have the best coffee and pastries in Washington. The spa is not to be missed next time...relaxation at its best. If we don't take care of ourselves, who will? Walking by the gym after a company party, completely understandable. We hope to welcome you back soon and enjoy the Spring.

My mother came to visit my sister and I who both live in the Washington DC metro area. We decided to go to a concert at the Warner Theatre nearby and stay downtown for the night. Since the Willard is a pretty historic and famous landmark close the White House we chose this hotel. It was WONDERFUL. Upon our arrival the room wasn't quite ready, so after apologizing for the inconvenience they asked if we would like to enjoy a complimentary cocktail at the bar while we waited. We took them up on the offer and went to the Round Robin bar just off the lobby - fantastic! Great service, great atmosphere. I received a text when my room was ready and we headed to our room. It was a very nice spacious room with very comfortable beds. Later in the evening we asked about reservations for Brunch Sunday morning at the Café du Parc. The restaurant was already closed but they still managed to get us penciled in for 12pm. I can not say enough about how hospitable all the staff we came into contact were - something Washington DC is not necessarily known for. This beautiful hotel is great for visitors and locals alike. And if you are interested in its history- there's even a little museum off of the north elevator banks.

Thank you for choosing the Willard InterContinental. I am happy that we were able to take part in the memories made during your mom’s visit. It’s nice to get away, even if it’s just across the bridge. Nothing like a staycation. Café du Parc outdoor seating is officially open! We would love to welcome you back for brunch on the terrace. We have asked our concierge to arrange for some warmer weather as we are ready to say goodbye to the winter! Hope you and your sister enjoy the Cherry Blossom festivities.

The Willard is a superior property that really manages to combine old world charm with contemporary expectations. It is a beautiful property with well appointed rooms, fantastic location, and a wonderful bar called the Round Robin. The place is drenched with history. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you for choosing the Willard and your kindness with this review. We love to be associated with words such as, “superior.” Isn’t it amazing how some of the world’s most famous leaders have sat in that very bar? Come back this summer for a Nats vs. Mets game! We’ll have a cold drink waiting for you at the bar.

We stayed here to be close to the White House and the subway. Our white house tour was changed to another day and the subway was no closer than just walking to the Smithsonian. They made it sound like the Metro was closer than it was. Like all expensive hotels you have to pay for everything, no free internet here and everyone has there hand out for a tip. You can't park your own car so in addition to paying $45 to park you had to tip the guy to get the car. We tried to take our bags up to our room to save that tip and were told "that's not how we do it here." The front desk told me otherwise. I think they just wanted their tips. We are not rich and could only afford to stay there on a weekend night for the special occasion of going to see the white house. As it turned out our tickets were changed so we still ended up having to take the metro in for the early 8 am tour on another day.

We paid the $45 for high tea. The atmosphere was wonderful but the sandwiches and pastries were stale. How disappointing to sped all that money on stale food, The room was nice but very small and on a low floor of course. Us poor folks would never get the nice rooms higher up. The room was strangely shaped. Upon check out she tried to charge me for something from the mini bar that wasn't even there and for internet. We knew better than to do any of those things. Our money went into the pockets of all the staff with their hands out. Some of the rooms on line were $800-1600 a night and I am sure the more expensive rooms were not even advertised for people like us. You would think they could pay the staff enough that they wouldn't be expecting someone like me who probably makes less than they do to provide the tip.

All in all it was quite a disappointment and I felt lied to about the distance to the Metro.

Room Tip: Try staying somewhere else in the area. It will still cost a lot but not kill you like this place d...

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at the Willard. I truly appreciate your comments and the opportunity to address your concerns. The closest metro station is Metro Center which is one block away. However, walking one block on these cold days can seem like an eternity! We would have been more than happy to place you on a higher floor. Please consider becoming an IHG Rewards Club member. Being an IHG Rewards member has many perks such as free internet, room upgrades and complimentary newspaper just to name a few. Assisting our guests is something that we enjoy and apologize if that came off as being aggressive. I hope to welcome you back to the Willard soon.

I just spent two nights at this lovely hotel. It is in a great location, very close to the White House and the National Mall. The lobby and rooms are very beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The room and bathroom were more then enough space. I also enjoyed the Keurig Coffee Maker in the room. The staff was great, helpful, and very kinda without being intrusive at all. I did not eat at the restaurant or bar and cannot comment on those. This was a great place for me to stay in this area. It is one of the more reasonable priced historic hotels downtown, and that is what you are looking for do not hesitate! For free internet, just sign up to be a member of the InterContinental Hotels Group! Overall a good option, if you are ok with not being 'blown away', but completely satisfied and happy.

Thank you for your positive remarks. I’m glad that we were able to satisfy your lodging needs and expectations. I wish we could have given you a break from the cold Colorado weather. You’ll have to come back in the Spring or Summer and enjoy a meal out on the Café du Parc terrace. Looking forward to seeing you again. Go Broncos!
