“ROOM SERVICE GRATUITY RIPOFF”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

Great location. Excellent room service food. However, the hotel adds a 22% gratuity to the room service bill, 17% of which goes to the server, 5% for administrative costs. The administrative cost fee is, in my opinion, a total ripoff.

Thank you for reviewing the Washington Hilton. It's very important to us that our guests feel they received a good value. We provide many dining options throughout the hotel at all different price points. We invite you back on your next trip to DC to allow us to make it right.

They have done a great job remodeling the Washington Hilton. The rooms feel fresh and inviting. The location is great if you want to be near the Dupont Circle or Adams Morgan areas of the city. If you are driving I would recommend that you pay for the hotel parking...we did not, and had a tough time finding space. I would also recommend that you request a room close to the elevators. This is a huge hotel and it is a very long walk if your room is at the other end of the hotel.

This hotel is my favorite place to stay in DC. The hotel staff here is as good as any hotel in the US. From the front desk to the bell captains, they are all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is always very clean. The location in DuPont Circle is perfect for me when I visit. I hope to stay here again soon on my next trip to DC.

The bright spots: staff in executive lounge - especially in the evening; walking distance to metro; walking distance to Phillips Collection. Here are the reasons for the negative rating: I paid for an Executive King room. We were put in room number 3158. I discovered that evening that ALL of the executive rooms were on the 10th floor. We were told when we checked in that the Executive Lounge closed the happy hour buffet at 8 p.m. They closed it that night at 7:30. We were told a continental breakfast was available in the Executive Lounge until 11:00 a.m. Nope. It is available until 10:00. We were given coupons for coffee and pastries at the coffee shop and told they were good until 5:00 p.m. They were only good until 10:00 a.m. We went to the registration desk after the breakfast debacle and reported that we were put in a non-executive king room and reported the misinformation. No offer was made to move us to the executive floor, and we were told the evening happy hour buffet stopped at 7:00 p.m. We found out that night from the executive lounge staff it actually regularly closes at 7:30 p.m. The glass shelves in the bathroom were undusted. The blow dryer in the room had a loose filter, so a chunk of my hair got jerked out by the fan. Bottom line: We paid for a room and amenities that we did not receive and were not offered either to move to the kind of room that we paid for or an adjustment on our bill.

Thank you for your review. The miscommunications you experienced clearly led to a sub par stay that is not to the level of our expectations at the Washington Hilton. Please feel free to call the hotel directly and allow us to make it right. We look forward to having you back at the Washington Hilton in the near future to experience the level of guest satisfaction we typically provide.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights and I just wanted to leave a review about how great this hotel was. For starters the location of this hotel is excellent, it is in close proximity to all of the famous sights in DC. The staff are friendly, the rooms were clean and my view from level 8 was spectacular. The in room dinning food was top notch . Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in DC.

We recently stayed at the Hilton Dupont for 4 nights. We were on the 10th floor in a corner room, double windows with views out over DC which were amazing. We were upgraded to the Hilton Honors Floor after contacting the Hilton Customer Service Team as it was our wedding anniversary. They were so helpful and fast getting back to us. We also had breakfast buffet coupons included and the choice was great, hot great coffee, juice, smoothies, pancakes, omelettes, sausage, yoghurts, cereals, muffins, breads, fruits. Coffee to go if you wanted it.
The room was great really comfy, lovely bathroom, walls bit thin and could hear bit of noise but it is a big hotel so we just used ear plugs. Ask for a room nearer the lift if you don't like walking (after the breakfast we quite enjoyed it :D). Spotlessly clean, couldn't fault it. TV, hairdryer, safe, iron, wash items all in room.
The location is great just a short walk from the metro Dupont Circle on the red line. Be sure to purchase a Smartcard from CVS right next to Panera Bread - its $2 but you will save $1 on every trip you do and its easy to top up at the metro. It is slightly uphill at the end coming back.
There are lots of lovely little different shops nearby and cafes, restaurants etc.
We didn't eat there other than breakfast and as we did so much sightseeing we didn't use the gym.
Really enjoyed our stay here and every member of staff was so helpful.

Room Tip: If you want good views then City facing as you will look out onto the national monument and see the...

The hotel has a pretty good location. We were able to walk about 15 minutes to the metro station and purchase a pass. The food at the hotel sports bar was pretty good. We had the Jack Daniels beef tips. Service was a tad slow but the food appearance was good. We did see other people's food and it looked well cooked and put together. The room was clean and spacious. We paid $100 per night and it was wel worth it. Breakfast at the hotel is expensive ($16 for a belgium waffle) so you can get a better value going elsewhere.

Room Tip: Closer to elevators is ideal for those who dont want to walk far.
