Description: Rising out of the hilltop, the 200-seat SpringHouse Restaurant will treat diners to a local cuisine served in rustic, casual elegance. The first architectural element guests will see as they enter the main dining room is the inglenook-a large fully-functional walk-in fireplace, which served as the center of the home in medieval times. At SpringHouse, the inglenook serves as a hot appetizer station during dining hours and a classroom during the day. As they pass the inglenook guests will notice handsome bars, rough-hewn beams, hand-forged ironwork, and a magnificent open kitchen, replete with a wood-fired oven and grill. The upstairs bar and dining area will focus on small plates and provide adults a place to relax and gather. Patios with working fireplaces flank the main dining room and upstairs bar. For special events, guests are invited to reserve the Well House-a private 12-seat dining room connected to the restaurant by an underground tunnel.

The food at Springhouse is incredible. The service definitely leaves something to be desired, but is worth the wait if you want an upscale meal on Lake Martin.

This was our second visit to this restaurant. We went shortly after it opened almost two years ago. At the first visit, the service was slow, but we attributed it to opening kinks. The menu and food were excellent. There is an open kitchen, which is alway kinda interesting. We did, however, witness a manager (maybe assistant mgr) reprimand a waitress in front of dining patrons......not good!
At our most recent visit, we were promptly seated, given menus and wine list. After 10 minutes, I noticed that no one had come by to fill our water glasses, etc. At that point, I began to watch the clock. There seemed to be plenty of wait staff and the restaurant was about 2/3 filled with diners. Many scurried past our table, but no one ever stopped. Finally after almost 20 minutes and just about to get up to leave, the water girl came by to fill our glasses and was stunned when told that no one had even come by to start serving our table. Needless to say, things started "popping". Long story, short.........our bottle of wine was "comped" and we were promptly served and profusely apologized to. Again, the menu and dinner selections were excellent.
We may give this restaurant one more chance. The management needs to use this incident as a case study of how to lose customers.
