This little-know museum is off the beaten path, but is very much worth a side trip. Set in beautiful grounds, it houses an excellent interpretation of the nature of Alabama, a state with highly diverse geology, ranging from the Coastal Plain to the ancient crystalline rocks of the Valley and Ridge Province. Alabama's biology is equally diverse. The ANMH takes the visitor through all the varied geology, and all the eco-systems found in the State.
The Anniston Museum of Natural History displays and interprets these sciences well. The exhibits and the explanatory material will be interesting to both children and adults. It is difficult to create displays which convey the information clearly to adults, but which do not go over the heads of children. The AMNH succeeds in making things both interesting and comprehensible to all.
An excellent good museum.
